Definitions

• Such materials are available as under the name “DAN”, e.g., "DAN 200" from Shell Oil Company. If increased solubility or lower melting temperatures of the "crystalline" secondary (2,3) alkyl sulfate surfactants is desired, the formulator may wish to employ mixtures of such surfactants having a mixture of alkyl chain lengths. Thus, a mixture of C12-C18 alkyl chains will provide an increase in solubility over a secondary (2,3) alkyl sulfate wherein the alkyl chain is, say, entirely C16.
