Abstract

The lens consists of sub-assemblies (5, 6) which are moulded onto one another and have coupling elements on their adjacent edges (51, 61) which extend along the plane of the lens. The coupling elements comprises a male component (54) which has, in its cross-section, a flat face (540) which lies parallel to the plane of the lens, and a curved surface (541) which extends from the edge of the lens in a direction parallel to its plane and then curves round to join the flat surface at right angles. The female component is shaped to fit together with the male one. The flat surface can extend from either the inside or outside of the lens, and the curved surface is in the shape of an arc of a circle.

Description

The present invention relates to a window for a vehicle lighting or signaling device.

Elle concerne également un dispositif ainsi équipé.It also relates to a device thus equipped.

It is common to equip the rear signaling devices of vehicles with a window having zones of different colors. Thus, the same lens can cover the brake, reversing and change of direction boxes and for this purpose includes subsets of respective red, colorless and amber colors.

One technique for making this type of ice cream is to use an injection molding machine that allows parts of different colors to be molded simultaneously.

Another technique consists in first molding a sub-assembly of the ice, then placing it in the mold of the second sub-assembly.

To do this, it is necessary to provide on the edges or edges of the different parts of the glass mutual fastening means.

Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view of the region where these two sub-assemblies are provided with attachment means. The references 20 and 30 respectively designate their external faces (intended to be turned towards the outside) while the references 22 and 32 designate their internal faces.

On their edges 21, respectively 31, the two parts of glass comprise, at the level of a peripheral shoulder 23, respectively 33, a tenon 24 and a complementary mortise 34, the tenon having a dovetail shape.

If this technique is satisfactory with regard to the attachment of the two sub-assemblies to one another, it nevertheless has certain drawbacks.

Indeed, the dovetail shape generates complex areas, difficult and expensive to scan and then machine in the manufacturing mold of the corresponding part.

In FIG. 3 are shown partially in section, the two parts of molds 4 and 4 ′ necessary for the manufacture of the periphery of the subassembly 2.

The reference P designates the joint plane, that is to say the junction between the two parts 4 and 4 ′ of the mold. In particular, the area P1 called "docking of the joint plane" is difficult to obtain without generating visible appearance defects on the glass finally obtained.

Furthermore, these dovetail attachment means are difficult to machine in the corner areas of the glass.

The present invention aims to overcome these drawbacks.

Thus, an objective of the invention is to provide a lens formed from overmolded subassemblies whose mutual attachment means are of a simpler form than the dovetail and, therefore, to facilitate the design and the manufacture of the corresponding mold.

Glass for a vehicle lighting or signaling device according to the invention, which consists of at least two sub-assemblies overmolded on each other and comprising, on their adjacent edges, means for mutual attachment which extend substantially along the plane of the glass, is remarkable in that these attachment means comprise a male part having, in cross section, a face that is essentially straight and parallel to the plane of the glass and a curvilinear face which s extends from said edge in a direction substantially parallel to the plane of the glass to join said face in a direction substantially perpendicular, and a female part of complementary shape.

Selon d'autres caractéristiques avantageuses mais non limitatives :

  • la face s'étend du côté externe de ladite glace ;
  • la face s'étend du côté interne de ladite glace ;
  • la face curviligne forme sensiblement un arc de cercle ;
According to other advantageous but non-limiting characteristics:
  • the face extends from the external side of said glass;
  • the face extends from the internal side of said glass;
  • the curvilinear face substantially forms an arc of a circle;
  • at least a corner part of said subassemblies is devoid of attachment means.

The invention also relates to a vehicle lighting or signaling device equipped with a window conforming to one or other of the characteristics described above.

  • la figure 4 est une vue en coupe verticale et partielle d'une glace conforme à l'invention, dans la région où elle comporte des moyens d'accrochage ;
  • la figure 5 est également une vue en coupe verticale et partielle d'un moule utilisé pour le moulage du sous-ensemble de glace comportant une partie mâle d'accrochage ;
  • les figures 6 et 7 sont des vues, respectivement en coupe et de face, d'une glace conforme à l'invention, la coupe de la figure 6 étant réalisée selon la plan VI-VI de la figure 7 ;
Other characteristics and advantages of the present invention will appear on reading the following description of a preferred embodiment. This description will be made with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
  • Figure 4 is a vertical and partial sectional view of a glass according to the invention, in the region where it comprises attachment means;
  • Figure 5 is also a vertical and partial sectional view of a mold used for molding the ice sub-assembly comprising a male hooking part;
  • Figures 6 and 7 are views, respectively in section and from the front, of a glass according to the invention, the section of Figure 6 being made along the plane VI-VI of Figure 7;
  • Figure 8 is a schematic front view of a glass in which the sub-assemblies which form it are devoid of attachment means in the corners.

As shown in FIG. 4, the two sub-assemblies 5 and 6 forming the glass of the invention comprise mutual attachment means 54 and 64. The respective external faces have been designated by the references 50 and 60, that is ie those intended to be turned outwards when the glass is in place on a lighting or signaling device. References 52 and 62 correspond to their internal faces.

Their peripheral part is formed by a shoulder 53, respectively 63, constituting an excess thickness of material directed on the internal side of the crystal.

The attachment means mentioned above extend over the respective edges or edges 51 and 61 of the subassemblies, substantially in the plane of the glass.

The male part 54 comprises, seen along the section of FIG. 4, a face 540 which is substantially straight and parallel to the plane of the glass.

It also has a curved face 541 which starts from the edge 51 in a direction substantially parallel to the plane of the glass to join the face 540 substantially perpendicular thereto.

Dans le mode de réalisation présenté, la face 541 a une forme complémentaire de celle de la partie 64.In the embodiment presented, the face 541 has a shape complementary to that of the part 64.

In another embodiment, the face 540 could be arranged on the side of the external face of the ice sub-assemblies 5 and 6 so that the male part 54 would be inverted with respect to the embodiment of FIG. 4.

Note the simplicity of the shape of these attachment means compared to those already known at the dovetail.

This also has a positive effect on the mold necessary for the production of the male part.

La figure 5 représente, partiellement et en coupe, un tel moule, dont les deux parties ont été désignées 7 et 7'.FIG. 5 represents, partially and in section, such a mold, the two parts of which have been designated 7 and 7 ′.

It will be noted that the junction plane P of the two parts 7 and 7 ′ coincides with that of the face 540 of the male member. Therefore, the part 7 simply rests on the part 7 'and we no longer encounter the problem linked to the area P1 of docking of the joint plane, since it is no longer necessary to coincide so very precise both parts of the mold.

The simplification of the geometry of the attachment means makes it possible to reduce the design times, in particular the time necessary for the digitization of the part and makes it possible to simplify the mold. This simplification is even more important if the glass is strongly arched and is molded in a mold which uses one or more moving parts, such as, for example, a cam.

In Figures 6 and 7 is shown a glass according to the invention, comprising three sub-assemblies 5, 6, 7. The sub-assembly 7 is for example molded first. The sub-assembly 6 constitutes the first overmolding, while the sub-assembly 5 constitutes the second.

The colors of these subsets 5, 6 and 7 are, for example, respectively crystal, amber and red, corresponding to the reversing lights, flashing and brake lights.

In the embodiment of Figure 8, the sub-assemblies are devoid of attachment means in certain angles.

The tightness of the glass is guaranteed by the contact surface of the sub-assemblies, the total thickness of the glass being unchanged.

Mechanical resistance is ensured by the faces fitted with attachment means. The absence of attachment means is not visible in the case where the subassembly carrying the female part in a darker color than that which carries the male part.
