In order to improve a connecting piece (10) with the features mentioned in the introduction, such that the connection of two frame bars (11) is of a satisfactory appearance in the connecting region and is also satisfactory from a technical standpoint, in particular as regards the sealing against moisture, it is designed such that the sealing layer is concealed by an outwardly projecting covering-plate edge, and that the covering plate (19) bears on the overhang. <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a connecting piece for angularly abutting frame bars, in particular for door and window frames, which is inserted into an end face of a cavity of a first frame bar and fastened to an outer wall of a second frame bar between the ends thereof, and which is a particularly beveled rollover of the has facing the second frame bar and partially covering the end face of the first frame bar, the surface facing the rollover of the second frame bar is provided with an elastic sealing layer.

Ferner bieten häufig die Schnittkanten des ersten Rahmenstabs eine unschöne Ansicht, weil sieA connector with the aforementioned features is known from FR 25 61 301 A1. The cover plate of this connecting piece has, on its surface facing the first frame rod, a plurality of projections which engage in chambers of the first frame rod designed as a hollow chamber profile in order to improve the connection strength. With such connecting pieces, there are increasing demands on the connection quality and the good appearance of such a connection between two frame bars, as well as on the sealing against moisture in the connection area. For example, changes in length of the first frame rod can have the effect that undesirably wide gaps appear in the joint area of its end face at the connecting slot. These can be unevenly wide even with slight skew. Furthermore, the cut edges of the first frame bar often offer an unsightly view because they

Have edge breaks that result from sawing off the first frame bar.

In contrast, the invention has for its object to improve a connector with the features mentioned so that the connection of two frame bars in the connection area looks flawless and is also technically flawless, especially with regard to sealing against moisture.

This object is achieved in that the sealing layer is hidden from an externally projecting cover plate edge, and in that the cover plate rests on the flap.

It is important for the invention that the sealing layer is not visible from the outside. For this purpose, the cover plate edge is used, which can be designed so that it completely covers the sealing layer. Since the sealing layer is pressed by the cover plate due to the load from the first profile rod onto the narrow, in particular beveled edge of the rollover, it is important that the pressure is limited, for which purpose the cover plate rests on the rollover. If the pressure of the cover plate on the sealing layer is increased beyond a predetermined size, the corresponding forces are absorbed by the cover plate resting on the flap.

The above-mentioned object is also achieved in that the sealing layer is hidden by an outer cover plate edge which is formed by the underside of the cover plate, this underside being flat over the entire width of the flap, but with an inwardly opening angle, and in that the cover plate rests directly on the flap.

Such a configuration of the connecting piece permits comparatively large tolerances between the connecting piece and the adjacent rollover of the second frame rod, but nevertheless allows the cover plate to rest on the rollover and thus the desired direct support.

It is expedient to design the connecting piece in such a way that the cover plate edge is formed by a bead of the cover plate lying on the narrow surface of the flap and runs over its entire length. The bulge resting on the narrow surface of the flap ensures that the cover plate is supported with a low surface pressure and thus with little risk of damage to the narrow surface of the flap. If the cover plate is designed in the sense of a slope compensation of the narrow edge of the flap, i.e. essentially wedge-shaped in cross section, the comparatively thin connection point between the cover plate and the remaining area of the connecting piece is comparatively little loaded due to the full-surface support on the narrow surface of the flap.

In order to give the connecting area an attractive appearance, the connecting piece is designed so that the cover plate is rounded concavely or convexly at least over part of the edge height at its front edge, which is freely visible between the profile bars, or is chamfered towards the rollover.

A further advantageous embodiment of the connecting piece is to be seen in the fact that in its area encompassing the stop-side upper edge of the flap up to the cover plate, its body surfaces maintain a distance from the flap. Tolerances of the components involved in this area can thus be neglected. In particular, the top edge of the flap is not acted upon by the connecting piece and in this area there is space for a stop seal of the flap.

In the above-described case of the distance of the connecting piece from the flap, it is advantageous if the connecting piece is designed such that the sealing layer extends from below the cover plate around the stop-side upper edge of the flap to its stop-side surface, the distance between the cover plate and the overlap filled by the sealing layer is, however, in the area of a stop seal of the flap leaves space for this stop seal. The result is an optimal seal in the area of the rollover without impairing the sealing effect of the stop seal.

It is advantageous if the surface of the cover plate facing the first frame rod is flat. Dimensional tolerances due to projections provided on the cover plate for engagement in the first frame rod are eliminated. The assembly is simplified. The surrounding edge can lie tightly tolerated on the outer circumference of the first frame rod.

The connecting piece is designed such that the surface of the cover plate facing the first frame rod is or are provided with an elastic sealing layer. If the surface facing the first frame bar is provided with an elastic sealing layer, this means a considerably improved sealing in the joint area between the two frame bars. The elastic sealing layer provided can be pressed together as required so that the seal is conveyed through it. A complete seal against external moisture can be achieved. The consequent change in the gap width between the two frame bars is irrelevant, since the gap can be covered by the surrounding edge.

It is possible for the first frame rod to be encompassed or covered on the outside by the surrounding edge. As a result, existing inaccuracies can be covered in the region of the adjacent end face of the first frame rod on the connecting piece. For example, edge breaks on the first frame bar no longer play a role. Even slight skewed cuts when the first frame bar is cut to length can be hidden behind the surrounding edge, which optically ensures an appealing exterior of the connection area of the two frame bars. If the length of the first frame bar changes slightly as a result of thermal stresses, this is not visible to the outside through an enlarged gap, for example, since the surrounding edge covers the gap between the two frame bars. Ultimately, there is also the risk of pollution reduced in the joint area of the two frame bars and improved the tightness of the joint by covering the gap. The surrounding edge can also influence the stability of the connection to a not inconsiderable extent by helping to absorb displacement and torsional stresses.

The design of the proposed elastic sealing layers is adapted to the required circumstances. For example, an elastic sealing layer is a sealing disk which is adapted to the surface of the cover plate and is placed between the peripheral edge or glued to the surface. In this sense, it is advantageous if the elastic sealing layer is firmly connected to the cover plate. But it is also possible to achieve this firm connection of the elastic sealing layer with the cover plate in that the elastic sealing layer consists of molded plastic, which has a different from the supporting area of the cover plate, namely less dimensional stability, in order to improve the sealing effect when the two frame bars are pressed together.

If the connecting piece is formed with molded elastic sealing layers, it should expediently be designed such that the sealing layers present above and below the cover plate are formed in one piece by means of holes in the cover plate. The one-piece nature of the sealing layers present on both sides of the cover plate ensures secure cohesion even when the connection strength between the sealing layers and the other body surfaces of the connecting piece is not strong.

The connecting piece can be designed such that it consists of two sections to be connected, each associated with one of the frame rods, that the cover plate is attached to the second section assigned to the second frame bar, and that the first section assigned to the first frame bar is on the bearing surface of the cover plate that is left free from the first frame bar. The The bipartite nature of the connector has the advantage that the two frame rods can each be assembled with a section of the connector in order to then be assembled into the respective frame configuration. It must be ensured that the tightness of the parting plane between the two parts or the frame bars is guaranteed. For this purpose, the cover plate can be used if it is attached to the second section such that the first section rests on the support surface of the cover plate, which faces the first frame rod. It is achieved in that the seal is not only between the first frame bar and the cover plate, but also between the first section of this frame bar and the second section.

In order to bring about further improvements in the seals in the region of the connecting piece, the latter is designed such that retaining strips for frame sealing pieces or frame sealing pieces are fastened to the side faces of the second partial piece. With the help of the retaining strips, frame seals can also be held exactly in the area of the connecting piece, or frame sealing pieces in the corner area between the connecting piece and the adjacent corner areas improve the sealing.

The connector 10 shown in FIG. 2, preferably made of plastic, consists of two sections 27, 26, which are shown in perspective in FIG. The connecting piece 10 serves to connect the first frame bar 11 to the second frame bar 12, only short lengths of each of the two frame bars 11, 12 being shown.

The frame rod 11 shown in FIG. 1 is essentially a multi-chambered hollow profile rod with a central cavity 14 into which a projection 32 of the first section 27 can be inserted. The projection 32 has the visible outer ribs 33 parallel to the frame rod, the outer edges of which adjoin the inner walls of the cavity and thus ensure a cross-sectionally fitting fit of the section 27 or of the projection 32 within the end face of the cavity 14. The connection-side configuration of the end of the frame rod 11 is such that it surrounds the coupling body 34 of the section 27 on the outside, the end face 18 of the first frame rod 11 essentially being seated on the coupling body 35 of the second section 26.

The coupling body 35 of the second section 26 is adapted to the outer wall 15 of the second frame rod 12, so that there is a positive fit between the two ends 16 thereof. The coupling body 35 is assembled with the frame rod 12 by means of connecting screws 36 which are screwed through connecting holes 39 into the outer wall 15 of the second frame rod 12. The connection of the first coupling piece 33 in the second coupling piece 35 and also with the first frame rod 11 takes place after the assembly of the two sections 27, 26 by a connecting bolt 37, not shown, which also connects the side walls 29 of the second coupling piece 35 to the side walls of the frame 11 can enforce to hold all components together. When designing the connecting piece 10 for assembling the two sections 27, 26 or the two frame rods 11, 12, reference can be made to those in European patent application 93 107 809.1 described coupling means are used, which are not described again here to avoid repetition. The same also applies to the sealing means described there, which are required so that moisture, which is located on the upper side surface of the first frame bar 11, for example when it is arranged horizontally, cannot reach the area below the horizontal frame bar 11 and cause damage there, for example for penetration of moisture into the area between insulating glass panes.

The connecting piece 10 is designed in a special way in that it has a cover plate 19 with which a part of the end face of the first frame rod 11 can be partially covered, in the region of the two flaps 17 of the first frame rod 11. Furthermore, the cover plate 19 designed so that it rests on the bevelled outer surface of the flap 17 of the second frame rod 12. Since a wedge-shaped gap is formed between this tapered outer surface of the flap 17 of the second frame bar 12 and the end face 18 of the first frame bar 11, which is cut to length transversely by a strand, the cover plate 19 is correspondingly wedge-shaped in cross-section, as can be seen from FIG. The cover plate 19 can therefore close this wedge-shaped gap. It is thereby achieved that the first frame rod 11 can be cut off perpendicular to its longitudinal axis in the region of the end face 18 adjoining the cover plate 19, which facilitates the manufacture of the end face 18. If the outer surface of the flap 17 is not beveled, the cover plate 19 is formed with a corresponding rectangular cross section.

It can be seen from the figures that the face 22 of the cover plate 19 facing the end face 18 is flat. This flat surface 22 is surmounted by a peripheral edge 21 which is provided on the outer circumference 20 of the cover plate 19. The cover plate 19 and its surrounding edge 21 are dimensioned such that they enclose the first frame rod 11 as tightly as possible on the outside. This can be seen from FIGS. 2, 3, in which the lower and outer edge position line of the first frame bar 11 is drawn with dashed lines. As a result, the gap 38 that inevitably results between the end face 18 and the flat face 22 of the cover plate 19 is properly covered. Possible changes in length, crooked cuts or edge breakouts of the first frame rod 11 play no role in the tightness and for the handsome appearance of the connection of the frame rods in the connection area.

In order to increase the tightness of the connection of the frame rods 11, 12 in the area of the cover plate 19, an elastic sealing layer 24 is provided on the flat surface 22 and the cover plate 19 has a underside on the underside, that is to say the flap 17 of the frame rod 12 Further elastic sealing layer 25. Both elastic sealing layers 24, 25 can already be firmly connected to the relevant outer surfaces of the cover plate 19 during the production of the connecting piece 10 or during the production of the second partial piece 26, for example by clamping into the peripheral edge 21, by sticking or by spraying, the material of the elastic sealing layer being a plastic that connects to the material of the cover plate 19. The sealing layer 25 is arranged so that its visible edge 25 'is hidden by an outer circumferential cover plate edge 19'.

The frame bar 12 shown in FIG. 4 has a frame rollover 17, this parallel retaining strips 43 for a center seal and an outer edge strip 44, all of which project vertically from the outer wall 15 of the second frame bar 12 and pass longitudinally parallel to the bar. In the area between the flap 17 and the bar 44, the section 26 of a connecting piece 10 is installed, which can be fastened to the frame rod 12 with connecting holes 39. The section 26 has a cover plate 19 which overlaps the frame flap 17 and on which the first frame rod 11 to be connected is aligned with its frame flaps 17, cf. Fig.1, can be supported in a manner not shown.

The design of the cover plate 19 varies in some respects. However, all variations have in common that the stop-side upper edge 17 ″ of the flap 17 is at a distance from the section 26 or from the cover plate 19. The relevant free space extends around the upper edge 17 '' on the one hand to between the cover plate 19 and the narrow surface 17 'of the flap 17 and on the other hand up to the stop-side surface 17''' of the flap 17 to such an extent that it also extends in the area of a profile groove 45 Attachment of a sealing profile is available.

Furthermore, all cover plates 19 have in common that they rest directly on the flap 17 or on its narrow surface 17 '. 4 to 10 full-surface supports are shown. The underside 19 ″ ″ of the cover plates 19 is formed in each case by a bead which extends from the region of the end edge 19 ″ in the direction of the upper edge 17 ″ and has approximately the width of half the narrow surface 17 ′ of the flap 17. This bead of the cover plate 19, which is to be regarded as the cover plate edge 19 'according to FIG. 3, runs over its entire length. With the full-surface support on the narrow surface 17 ', the position of the cover plate 19, which extends over a considerable length of the flap 17 according to FIG. 1, is well stabilized, although the upper edge 17' 'has clearance or distance from the body surfaces 40 of the section 26 or the cover plate 19, which in the wedge-shaped cross-sectional shape of the cover plate 19 as a result of the oblique configuration of the narrow surface 17 'results in a comparatively weak transition point 46. Due to the full-surface support of the cover plate 19 on the narrow surface 17 ', this transition point 46 is not disproportionately loaded.

In comparison to this configuration described above, FIG. 11 shows a cover plate 19, the underside 19 '''of which is un-stepped or even over its entire width, as is the surface 17' of the flap 17. However, the underside 19 '''is in one Angle to the narrow surface 17 'arranged, which opens inwards. A wedge-shaped gap is formed, but a cover plate edge 19 'can serve as a direct support on the flap 17.

The cover plates 19 of FIGS. 4 to 8 have on their outer circumference the peripheral edge 21 already described for FIGS. 1 to 3, which projects parallel to the first frame rod 11. 4 and 8, it is left open how this frame rod 11 is assembled with the cover plates 19. 5 shows an outer circumference of the first frame rod 11, the circumferential edge 27 being aligned on the outside with the outer surface of the frame rod 11, that is to say it is embedded in a corresponding recess in the frame rod 11. The recess is e.g. made by milling. In FIGS. 6, 7, the encircling edge 21 is let into the frame rod 11 on the inside, so it is an inner encirclement into a recess in the frame rod 11, which can also be milled out. 6 shows that the frame rod 11 is milled out only over the height of the peripheral edge 21 and accordingly leaves the front edge 19 ″ exposed, the frame rod 11 extends according to FIG. 7 over the entire front side 19 ″ of the cover plate 19 and covers it perfect, also sideways. As a result, there is no need to see any of the connector as a whole.

If the front edge 19 ″ is left free by the frame rod 11, there are possibilities of different configurations which can serve for optical adaptation or refinement. At least part of the edge height of the front edge 19 ″ can be designed in its shape. Figures 5, 6 and 10 show front edges 19 '' with a concave design, i.e. with a fillet. FIG. 9 shows a front edge 19 ″ with a convex rounding, that is to say seen from the observer with a curvature, and FIGS. 8 and 11 show front edges 19 ″, which consist of two surface sections, one at an angle to the other and approximately perpendicular to the Narrow area 17 'stands. In FIG. 4, the end face 19 ″ is extended in that there is a strip on the cover plate 19 covering the upper edge of the window outside.

This completely fills the space in this area out. As a result, a complete seal is provided between the cover plate 19 and the flap 17, the sealing layer 25 not being able to be disproportionately pressed together with the cover plate edge 19 'on the flap 17 because of the support of the cover plate 19 when the frame rod 11 is pulled against the surface 22 becomes. Furthermore, the sealing layer 25 extends vertically parallel to the flap 17 and then up to its stop-side surface 17 ″ ″, a space being left below the upper edge 17 ″ for the installation of a stop seal 41, which is fastened with a fastening rib 41 ′ in the Channel 45 is clamped and with its sealing lip 41 '' in front of section 26 there is enough space.

B. beim Herstellen von Dichtungsschichten 24,25 beim Anspritzen an das Teil 26.4 to 11 show that the cover plate 19 has holes 42. 5 shows such a hole 42 clearly in the section of a cover plate 19. FIG. 11 shows that the cover plate 19 can have a sealing layer 24 on its flat surface 22, which is integrally connected to the sealing layer 25 through a hole 42 or more holes can stand. The one-piece results from z. B. in the production of sealing layers 24, 25 when molded onto the part 26.
