Der hydrostatische Druck des Druckmittels wirkt somit direkt auf das jeweilige Preßband, das diesen Druck als Membran unmittelbar auf die Werkstoffbahn im Preßspalt überträgt, die sich ihrerseits auf das gegenüberliegende Preßband abstützt. Die einander gegenüberliegenden Druckkammern beider Preßbänder müssen daher mit dem gleichen Druck beaufschlagt sein. Die Werkstoffbahn beginnt somit ihren Durchlauf durch die Presse drucklos, gelangt in der Preßzone in Zonen der jeweils eingestellten Drücke und verläßt die Presse wieder drucklos.The materials are generally fed to the entry point of the double belt press without pressure. Für den Teil der Presse, der in Bandlaufrichtung vor der Zone eines höheren Druckes liegt, bedeutet das, daß der fließfähige Werkstoff entgegen der Bandlaufrichtung zurückströmen möchte. Dem kann nur durch Zähigkeitskräfte entgegengewirkt werden, wobei es im Bereich des Druckaufbaues eine Relativgeschwindigkeit zwischen Werkstoff und Preßbändern entgegen der Transportrichtung gibt, mittels derer der Druck im Werkstoff aufgebaut wird und die dafür sorgt, daß ein Druck schon vor dem Erreichen der jeweiligen Druckzone herrscht. Dies steht im Widerspruch zum Prinzip der isobaren Presse, bei der in einer Druckzone überall gleicher Druck herrschen soll. Durch den vorzeitigen Druckaufbau legen sich die Preßbänder an Druckkammerwände, Dichtungen oder Wärmeübertragungsbrücken an. Dies ist insbesondere deshalb nachteilig, da die genannten Maschinenteile nicht für Gleitung unter hohem Druck ausgelegt sind und dabei überhöhtem Verschleiß unterliegen.If the material web in the double belt press is in a flowable state, then it wants to flow according to the pressure gradient. Zur Lösung des Problems wird in EP-A-544.645 vorgeschlagen, die Preßbänder mit je einem Rollenbett abzustützen. Da jedoch auf der Werkstoffseite eine flächenhafte Kraft herrscht, auf der Stützseite aber nur ein Liniendruck über die Drucklinien zwischen Band und Stützrollen übertragen wird, setzt die sich in diesen Berührungslinien ergebende Hertzsche Pressung diesem Prinzip sehr enge Grenzen. Sowohl die Bandoberflächen, als auch die Stützrollen werden durch die Hertzsche Pressung in den Berührungslinien ständig wechselnd bis nahe an die Streckgrenzen beansprucht, was insbesonders bei den Preßbändern alsbald zu Ermüdungserscheinungen führt. Dadurch gleiten die Preßbänder mit nur geringer Reibung auf dem fluiden Druckmittel und nicht auf festen Elementen. Das in den Ringraum (13) überfließende Druckmittel kann beispielsweise abgesaugt und in den Druckmittelkreislauf rückgeführt werden.
