Definitions
- the invention relates to a lock for closing, in particular a door, a cabinet or an electrical switchgear cabinet, comprising a base in the form of a plate for fixing to the door, a rotating shaft extending perpendicular to the base and passing through an orifice in the door, said shaft having an internal end arranged on the internal side of the door and an external end arranged on the opposite side of the door, a handle in the form of a lever for operating the lock having an end hinged to said outer end of the shaft on a transverse axis perpendicular to the shaft and a free end, a locking member integral with said inner end of the shaft and capable of occupying a locking position and a unlocking position of the door, the passage from one position to the other being controlled by the rotation of the shaft maneuvered by the operating lever.
- a lock of the kind mentioned has a small projection in the closed position, and the handle or the operating lever is largely fitted or retracted inside a housing formed in the base fixed to the door. It is possible to prevent the operation of the lever, in this case the opening of the door by blocking the operating lever in its nested position in the housing, and it has already been proposed to block the free end of the lever. operated by a lock system. The possibilities of breaking such a lock are thus reduced, since the operating lever is held by its two ends in its housing.
- a known lock comprises for this purpose a cylinder or barrel controlled by a key and disposed in the vicinity of the rotary shaft. The locking movement is transmitted by a drawer system at the free end of the operating lever, but this system is complicated and exposed to faults.
- Another known lock for example from document US-A-2,377,301, comprises a cylinder controlled by a key, fixed at the free end of the operating lever and cooperating with the base for retain this free end in the nested position in the housing provided in the base.
- This relatively bulky cylinder complicates the gripping of the operating lever and constitutes a difficulty which is difficult to accept.
- the present invention aims to allow the realization of a simplified lock, allowing the blocking of the operating lever in its housing by simple means, not increasing the size of the lever or the lock.
- the lock according to the invention comprises a lock capable of cooperating with the free end of the operating lever so as to maintain, in the locked position, the lever in the folded position towards the base and to release the lever in the unlocked position; it is characterized in that the lock is pivotally mounted on an axis parallel to the base and secured to the base to allow passage from the locking position to the unlocking position and vice versa by a simple pivoting of the lock.
- the lock is arranged on the fixed part, in this case on the base of the lock, and by simple pivoting can come into the locking or unlocking position of the free end of the operating lever.
- the lock is equipped with a locking means, in particular a cylinder or barrel controlled by a key, making it possible to maintain the lock in the locking position, preventing any extraction of the operating lever.
- the lock advantageously has a hooking spout against which abuts the free end of the operating lever, when the latter is introduced into its housing, the continued movement of the lever pivoting the lock towards the locking position. The same hooking spout can block the free end of the lever by cooperating with a retaining stop integral with this end.
- a simple rotation of the key locks the lock in its locked position and thus prevents any extraction of the operating lever from its housing.
- the lock passes through an opening or an opening in the door and extends on either side of the latter, so as to limit the projection in particular on the outside, which can be equivalent to or less than that of the base.
- a cover can be slidably mounted on the free end of the operating lever to cover the lock in the lever locking position. This cover protects the lock by improving the aesthetics and a simple sliding movement allows the lock to be released, in particular the key insertion hole.
- a spring biases the latch in the unlocked position, the pivoting movement of the latch automatically generating a partial extraction of the operating lever from its housing in the base. The gripping of the lever is thus facilitated and any false maneuver is excluded.
- the pivoting movement of the latch in the locking position takes place against the return spring by fitting the operating lever into the base.
- the tightness of the lock is easily achieved at the two orifices of the door by insertion of seals, the cover contributing to the improvement of this tightness.
- the lock preferably comprises a cremone bolt, the toothed pinion of which is wedged on the internal end of the rotary shaft.
- a base 10 in the form of an elongated plate of molded material, or in zamak, is fixed to a door 11 schematically represented by a sheet having two rectangular orifices 12, capped by the base 10.
- a rotary shaft 13 is mounted at rotation in the base 10 extending perpendicularly to the door 11 through the orifice 12.
- On the internal end 14 of the rotary shaft 13 is wedged a toothed pinion of a cremone bolt housing designated by the general reference 16.
- the outer end 17 of the rotary shaft 13 carries an axis 18 perpendicular to the shaft 13 and serving as an axis of articulation of the upper end 20 of a handle or operating lever 19.
- a movement of pivoting of the lever 19 around the axis 18 allows a separation, respectively a bringing together of the lever of the base 10, which has on the side of the lever 19, a housing 21 of conjugate shape in which the lever 19 can partially or entirely s' follow suit.
- a pivoting of this lever in a plane parallel to that of the door 11 requires a rotation of the rotary shaft 13 and a control of the cremone bolt 16.
- the lower end 22 of the operating lever 19 cooperates with a lock 23 pivotally mounted by a pin 24 on the base 10.
- the pin 24 is disposed perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the base 10.
- the lock 23 has a hooking beak 25 which is engaged by the free lower end 22 of the lever 19 during the introduction of the lever 19 into its housing 21, this hooking beak 25 further cooperating with a retaining stop 26 carried by the free end 22.
- the retaining stop 26 retains the hooking spout 25 and thus prevents extraction of the lever 19 from its housing 21.
- the lock 23 is fitted with a barrel cylinder 27 receiving a key 28.
- the cylinder 27 controls a cam 29 for locking the lock 23, which cam can be pivoted into the locked position by rotation of the key 28.
- the lock 23 extends through port 12 of the door 11, the side of the key 28 being oriented outwards in slight projection, lower than that of the base 10 on this side of the door.
- the locking cam 29 is disposed on the inside of the door 11.
- a return spring 30 in the form of a folded blade or of another type biases the latch 23 in the pivoted position shown in FIG. 4, releasing the free end 22 of the lever 19.
- Such pivoting is authorized when the locking cam 29 is in the inactive position and during this movement, the hooking spout 25 pushes the free end 22 of the lever 19 to extract the latter from its housing 21. In In this position, it is instinctive and easy to grab the lever 19 and completely extract it to rotate the rotary shaft 13.
- the operating lever 19 is short enough so that its free end 22 does not block the orifice of the introduction of the key 28 in the locking position shown in Figure 2.
- a cover 33 is slidably mounted on the lever 19 , and by simple sliding this cover 33 can be brought in the extension of the lever 19 to fully cover the lock 23.
- the base 10 is fixed to the door 11 by screws 31 with interposition of a seal.
- the base 10 and the operating lever 19 are made of molded material, or of zamak, and in the locked position, the lock constitutes only a slight projection on the external face of the door 11.
- the lock according to the invention operates as follows: In the locking position, the operating lever 19 is fitted into the housing 21, and the latch 23 in the locking position according to FIG. 2, is locked by the locking cam 29.
- the cover 33 covers the cylinder 27 and it is almost impossible to extract the lever 19 from its housing 21, its two ends 20, 22 being held respectively by the shaft 13 and the hooking spout 25.
- the key 28 allows rotation of the locking cam 29 to release the latch 23 which under the action of the return spring 30 pivots clockwise in FIG. 2 to eject the free end 22 of the housing 21 through the spout 25.
- the latch 23 may include an automatic latching bolt holding the latch 23 in the locked position as soon as it is pivoted under the action of the operating lever 19.
- the actuation of the key 28 in this case causes the retraction of the bolt and release of the bolt 23.
- the system for locking the bolt 23 can also be of a different type, and the arrangement of the pin 24 can be chosen so that the forces of gravity tend to pivot the bolt 23 by replacing or supplementing the force of the return spring 30. It is also possible to associate the operating lever 19 with an extraction spring from the housing 21.
- the invention is of course in no way limited to the mode of implementation more particularly described and it extends to locks controlling other locking members than cremone bolts, in which the lever 19 would fit onto the base 10 .

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a lock for closing, in particular a door, a cabinet or an electrical switchgear cabinet, comprising a base in the form of a plate for fixing to the door, a rotating shaft extending perpendicular to the base and passing through an orifice in the door, said shaft having an internal end arranged on the internal side of the door and an external end arranged on the opposite side of the door, a handle in the form of a lever for operating the lock having an end hinged to said outer end of the shaft on a transverse axis perpendicular to the shaft and a free end, a locking member integral with said inner end of the shaft and capable of occupying a locking position and a unlocking position of the door, the passage from one position to the other being controlled by the rotation of the shaft maneuvered by the operating lever.
A lock of the kind mentioned, has a small projection in the closed position, and the handle or the operating lever is largely fitted or retracted inside a housing formed in the base fixed to the door. A known lock comprises for this purpose a cylinder or barrel controlled by a key and disposed in the vicinity of the rotary shaft. The locking movement is transmitted by a drawer system at the free end of the operating lever, but this system is complicated and exposed to faults. Another known lock, for example from document US-A-2,377,301, comprises a cylinder controlled by a key, fixed at the free end of the operating lever and cooperating with the base for retain this free end in the nested position in the housing provided in the base. This relatively bulky cylinder complicates the gripping of the operating lever and constitutes a difficulty which is difficult to accept.
The present invention aims to allow the realization of a simplified lock, allowing the blocking of the operating lever in its housing by simple means, not increasing the size of the lever or the lock.
The lock according to the invention comprises a lock capable of cooperating with the free end of the operating lever so as to maintain, in the locked position, the lever in the folded position towards the base and to release the lever in the unlocked position; it is characterized in that the lock is pivotally mounted on an axis parallel to the base and secured to the base to allow passage from the locking position to the unlocking position and vice versa by a simple pivoting of the lock.
The lock is arranged on the fixed part, in this case on the base of the lock, and by simple pivoting can come into the locking or unlocking position of the free end of the operating lever. The lock is equipped with a locking means, in particular a cylinder or barrel controlled by a key, making it possible to maintain the lock in the locking position, preventing any extraction of the operating lever. The lock advantageously has a hooking spout against which abuts the free end of the operating lever, when the latter is introduced into its housing, the continued movement of the lever pivoting the lock towards the locking position. The same hooking spout can block the free end of the lever by cooperating with a retaining stop integral with this end. A simple rotation of the key locks the lock in its locked position and thus prevents any extraction of the operating lever from its housing. The lock passes through an opening or an opening in the door and extends on either side of the latter, so as to limit the projection in particular on the outside, which can be equivalent to or less than that of the base. A cover can be slidably mounted on the free end of the operating lever to cover the lock in the lever locking position. This cover protects the lock by improving the aesthetics and a simple sliding movement allows the lock to be released, in particular the key insertion hole. A spring biases the latch in the unlocked position, the pivoting movement of the latch automatically generating a partial extraction of the operating lever from its housing in the base. The gripping of the lever is thus facilitated and any false maneuver is excluded. The pivoting movement of the latch in the locking position takes place against the return spring by fitting the operating lever into the base.
The tightness of the lock is easily achieved at the two orifices of the door by insertion of seals, the cover contributing to the improvement of this tightness. The lock preferably comprises a cremone bolt, the toothed pinion of which is wedged on the internal end of the rotary shaft.
- Figure 1 is a schematic perspective view of a lock according to the invention, shown in the closed position.
- Figure 2 is an axial sectional view of a lock according to Figure 1, mounted on a door.
- Figure 3 is a left view of Figure 2.
- Figure 4 is a view similar to that of Figure 2, showing the operating lever unlocked in different positions.
- Figure 5 is a schematic perspective view of the lock.
The lock according to the invention operates as follows:
In the locking position, the
The invention is of course in no way limited to the mode of implementation more particularly described and it extends to locks controlling other locking members than cremone bolts, in which the
