Abstract

A control system for office machines, in particular copiers or the like, includes a replacement component which must be exchanged after a specific level of use, the system includes at least one detector of level-of-service and a display unit for the level of use associated with the detector to display the level of use and/or any crossing of an upper limit of level of use. Die Erfindung betrifft ein Steuerungssystem für Büromaschinen, insbesondere Kopiergeräte oder dergleichen, mit wenigstens einem nach einem bestimmten Benutzungsumfang auszuwechselnden Verbrauchsteil und mit wenigstens einer Benutzungsumfangs-Erfassungseinrichtung und einer mit dieser verbundenen Anzeigeeinheit für den Benutzungsumfang oder/und für eine Überschreitung einer Benutzungsumfangsgrenze.The invention relates to a control system for office machines, in particular copying machines or the like, with at least one consumable part to be replaced according to a specific scope of use and with at least one scope of use detection device and a display unit connected thereto for the scope of use or / and for exceeding a scope of use limit.

Bei Büromaschinen der angesprochenen Art mit nach einem bestimmten Benutzungsumfang auszuwechselndem Verbrauchsteil entsteht das Problem, daß in manchen Fällen das neu eingebaute Verbrauchsteil nicht den für einen ordnungsgemäßen Betrieb maßgeblichen Hersteller-Spezifikationen genügt. Dies ist beispielsweise bei den modernen Kopiergeräten der Fall, die nach dem elektrophotographischen Verfahren arbeiten, und bei denen die Photoleitertrommel, die Fixierwalzen sowie die Wischer nach einer jeweils vorgegebenen Kopieranzahl zu wechseln sind, um eine Mindestqualität der Kopien zu gewährleisten und den Kopierprozeß nicht dauerhaft zu beeinträchtigen. Dem Benutzer des Kopiergeräts, der von einer Anzeigeeinheit, z. B. in Form eines Kopienzählers, die Information erhalten hat, daß die seit dem letzten Verbrauchsmaterialwechsel angefertigte Kopienanzahl die vorgegebene Maximalzahl überschreitet, wird gegenwärtig freigestellt, ob der den Austausch des Verbrauchsteils durch den Service veranlaßt oder nicht. Eine wesentliche Überschreitung der Einsatzzeiten über die vorgesehene Lebensdauer von Verbrauchsteilen hinweg kann zu Folgeschäden an anderen Verbrauchsteilen oder zu bleibenden Schäden am Gerät führen. Darüber hinaus ist es für die Hersteller von Verbrauchsteilen unter den gegenwärtigen Bedingungen außerordentlich schwierig, statistische Aussagen zum Qualitätsverhalten und zur tatsächlichen Lebensdauer von Verbrauchsteilen zu erhalten. Der Kopiergerätebenutzer ist bislang gegen den Einbau von nicht originalen Verbrauchsmaterialien bzw. von nicht vom Hersteller freigegebenen Verbrauchsmaterialien nicht geschützt. Auch bei anderen Büromaschinen mit Verbrauchsteilen, wie z. B. Druckern oder Plottern mit Druckkopf bzw. Die Rücksetzung setzt jedoch zum einen das Vorhandensein des Schlüssel-Datenträgers voraus, der vom Büromaschinenhersteller ausschließlich seinen eigenen Ersatzteilen beigegeben wird bzw. Ersatzteilen anderer Zulieferer, die nach Qualitätsprüfung vom Büromaschinenhersteller freigegeben worden sind. Schlüssel-Datenträger, insbesondere Magnet- oder Chip-Karten lassen sich ohne allzu großen Aufwand fälschungssicher herstellen. Die Rücksetzung der Benutzungs-Erfassungseinrichtung nur nach vorheriger Überprüfung des Berechtigungscodes mit positivem Ergebnis stellt sicher, daß nur vom Hersteller hierfür vorgesehene Schlüssel-Datenträger die Benutzungsumfangs-Erfassungseinrichtung rücksetzen. Kopienzahl) auswechseln zu können, ist jedem Verbrauchsteil eine eigene Benutzungsumfangs-Erfassungseinrichtung (hier in Form eines Kopienzählers) zugeordnet. Der Kopienzähler kann mechanisch oder elektromechanisch oder elektronisch ausgebildet sein. Zur Kontrolle des jeweiligen Benutzungsstandes ist jeder Erfassungseinrichtung und damit jedem der genannten Verbrauchsteile eine Anzeigeeinheit für die Kopienzahl zugeordnet. Die Anzeigeeinheit für die Photoleitertrommel 12 ist mit 22 bezeichnet, die für die obere Fixierwalze 14 mit 24, die für die Fixierwalze 16 mit 26 und für die Reinigungswischer 18 und 20 mit 28 bzw. 30 und die für den Entwickler 21 mit 31.     when a coded data carrier is introduced into the read/write unit the control system detects the current status of a device for detecting irregular operational conditions, in particular paper jams, and stores this on the coded data carrier (block 76).

    when a coded carrier is introduced into the read/write unit the control system detects the current status of a device for detecting regular operational conditions, e.g. the use of different paper trays or different reproduction scales, and stores this on the coded data carrier (block 76).
