Definitions

  • the present invention relates to plugs, electrical sockets and relates more particularly to a device automatically ensuring the disengagement or uncoupling of such a plug from the electrical outlet in which it is positioned, and this, following a movement or a force applied to said record or one of its elements.
  • any electrical plug associated with an appliance is very often subjected to significant efforts, in particular by means of the electric cable connecting them, when the user wishes to disengage it from the electrical outlet in which it is positioned.
  • the standards in force in practically all countries, covering both plugs and sockets, impose a minimum separation force to remove a plug from a corresponding socket.
  • the user uses a greater separation force and, for reasons of convenience, applies it to the cable rather than to the plug with the consequence that the conductors are stretched, damaged. or even broken, causing a great risk of short circuit and / or electric shock.
  • Belgian patent BE-A-100 4 372 of the applicant describes a mechanical device facilitating the disengagement of an electrical plug from a socket by proposing a thrust member mounted between said plug and said socket, actuated by a mounted control element on the plug or on the socket and having an appropriate gear reduction in order to reduce the effort required.
  • this device greatly reduces the risk of short-circuit and / or electrocution, it requires the presence of the user near the plug-socket connection to be actuated.
  • American patent 4,045,106 proposes an automatic disengagement system, controlled remotely by the cable, but without reduction of the effort to be supplied, so that the user must provide an effort at least equal to the minimum separation force for arm the device which does not provide any advantage.
  • the proposed system requires that the cable passes through a sleeve forming an appropriate angle with the support of the plug, which complicates the production thereof while being operative only if the cable is moved laterally.
  • the proposed device very significantly increases the dimensions of the standard plug with which it is associated since it slides inside a housing.
  • the spring ensuring the disengagement movement impedes the actuation of this movement so that a stable limit, minimum to this actuation cannot be easily guaranteed and a fortiori adjusted at the discretion of the manufacturer.
  • the torsional movement of the conductors relative to their attachment can only weaken the latter.
  • the object of the present invention is to remedy the aforementioned drawbacks by proposing simple, effective and reliable means for automatically ensuring the disengagement of a plug from the socket in which it has been positioned, when an element of the plug undergoes displacement. or the electric cable to which the plug is connected undergoes a given minimum traction.
  • a second object of the invention is to ensure that, when actuated by the cable, the disengagement control remains operational regardless of the angle that the cable takes relative to the axis of symmetry of the plug. and especially when they are coaxial.
  • Another object of the invention is to ensure that these means hardly increase the size of the plug, especially from the point of view of diameter.
  • Another object of the invention is to ensure that these means can be easily implemented by any user, that is to say that their use is simple and does not require any particular effort.
  • Another object of the invention is to propose means for which the trigger threshold is fairly precise and easily adjustable.
  • Another object of the invention is to propose means applicable to any file approved by the standards in force.
  • Another object of the invention is to prevent any insertion of a plug fitted with such disengagement means into an electrical outlet in the event that the latter is not in the operative position.
  • Another object of the invention is to propose means that are easy to mass produce and of a limited number so as to allow easy and rapid assembly.
  • Another object is to propose means making it possible to connect the conductors of a cable to the contact pins as usual in any standard removable plug.
  • Another object of the invention is to propose means which, once assembled, cannot be easily dismantled by a user.
  • Another object of the invention is to propose means actuated by a tensile force applied to the electric cable.
  • the device which is the subject of the invention is here incorporated into an electrical plug 1 and in particular a plug meeting the various standards in force in European countries.
  • This sheet 1 comprises, like any standard sheet, a support 10, a lateral surface of revolution or housing 14, and further, in accordance with the invention, a control handle 30, a trigger system 50 (FIGS. 4, 5) and at least one pushing member 70.
  • the removable support 10 comprises the contact pins 12 (earth included) to which the conductors of a standard electric cable 90 are connected and is fixed to the housing 14 by a screw 16.
  • the housing 14 is of substantially cylindrical shape and its peripheral surface located near the support 10 meets the required standards; in particular two guide rails 18 are provided. At its other end, the housing 14 allows the passage of the cable 90.
  • housings 20 intended to receive and guide movable pushing members 70.
  • the length of the displacement of these in the housings corresponds substantially to the length of the contact pins 12.
  • a control handle 30, also of cylindrical shape, is mounted coaxially on the housing 14 and is guided in rotation by means of at least two pins 32, 34 cooperating with a groove 22 formed at the periphery of the housing 14.
  • the shapes of the exterior surfaces of the housing 14 and interior of the control handle 30 provide a chamber 40 in which are accommodated elastic means 42, for example a spiral spring, attached respectively to the housing 14 and to the control handle 30 of such so that one of these elements, for example the control handle 30, is rotated under or against the action of these elastic means while the other, for example the housing 14, is held stationary .
  • elastic means 42 for example a spiral spring
  • the inner surface of the control handle 30 also includes two helical grooves 36 intended to trap a stud 72 carried by each pushing member 70 in order to control its movement inside the housing 20 provided for this purpose. As shown in Figures 1 and 2, the length of the control handle 30 is such that it always covers part of the pushing members 70 so as to keep them in their respective housings.
  • control handle 30 in one direction or the other about its axis of symmetry ensures the displacement of the pushing members 70, either towards the support 10 or in the opposite direction.
  • FIGS. 4 to 6 show a trigger system 50, in the present case, linked to the cable 90 and acting on the control handle 30.
  • This trigger system 50 mainly comprises a body 52 connected to the support 10 via two oblong openings 54, through from which pass pins 11 forming part of the support 10.
  • the body 52 has a fixing or stopping system 56 provided with screws 58 making it possible to pinch the cable 90 as usual in any removable electrical plug.
  • the conductors 92 form a slight loop so as to allow the movement of the body 52 inside the housing 14 without any effort being imparted to their connection, made using a screw 13, on each contact pin 12.
  • the architecture of this trigger system 50 allows, when the support 10 is removed from the housing 14, its pivoting around the pins 11 freeing access to the screws 13 and thus facilitating the user connecting the conductors 92 to the contact pins 12.
  • the body 52 has a flexible tab 60 carrying a pawl 62 and two lateral guide surfaces 66 cooperating with profiles provided for this purpose in the interior surface of the housing 14 (see figure 6).
  • the device which is the subject of the invention is as shown in FIG. 1.
  • the pushing members 70 and more particularly their shoulders 74 prohibit the insertion of the plug into a socket.
  • corresponding 100 shown diagrammatically and partially in FIG. 2A because said shoulders 74, positioned outside the standardized profile of the support 10 and of the socket 100, abut on the external peripheral surface 102 of the socket 100 before the contact pins 12 can enter the body of the socket.
  • the object of the invention device is then in the position shown in Figures 2, 4 and 6, that is to say in the position called “armed”; the pawl 62 retaining the control handle 30 against the elastic means 42.
  • the pushing members 70 having been moved back, the plug 1 can then be completely inserted into a socket 100 (see FIG. 2A).
  • the device thus remains in this position as long as sufficient traction is not exerted on the cable.
  • the threshold of this traction is in particular determined by the characteristics of the elastic means 80, for example a spring, positioned between the bottom of the housing 14 and the trigger system 50 and maintaining the latter in the position shown in FIG. 4.
  • the pawl 62 disappears, thereby releasing the stud 32 and therefore the control handle 30 to the action of the elastic means 42 (FIG. 5).
  • the handle rotates around its axis of symmetry in the clockwise direction (view of the socket) and the grooves 36 force the pins 72 and therefore the pushing members 70 to move towards the support 10.
  • the shoulders 74 of said thrust members pressing on the external peripheral surface 102 of the socket 100 they remain stationary and therefore by reaction, it is the housing 14, the support 10 and the contact pins 12 which move away from the bottom of the socket 100 as indicated by the arrow F in the figure 2A.
  • the pushing members 70 At the end of movement, the pushing members 70 have returned to the position shown in FIG. 1 and the plug 1 is then completely disengaged from the electrical outlet 100 since the length of movement of the pushing members 70 corresponds to that of the pins contact 12.
  • these means can be made using rubber in order to protect the plug from splashing water or possibly make it waterproof depending on the type of device with which it is associated.
  • the elastic means 42 can be easily manipulated by any user and in the example described, their compression value is approximately one third of the value fixed by the standards to manually disengage a plug from a socket.
  • the profile and the periphery, preferably rounded, of the orifice made in the housing 14 for the passage of the cable allow actuation of the device up to an angle of about 80 ° between the cable and the axis of symmetry of the plug.
  • the housing 14 being of a diameter imposed by the standards, it is seen that the proposed arrangement makes it possible to obtain a plug of a length fairly close to those standard available on the market while the increase in diameter due to the handle of command 30 is only very limited and located at the rear end of the plug. This allows its easy use in so-called "multi-outlet” devices.
  • the support 10 is a removable standard support available on the market.
  • the support 10 and the housing 14 can advantageously be made completely integral.
  • the slots allowing the assembly of the different parts and in particular of the control handle 30 are located in places such that during movement they cannot be reached which prevents the user from being able to disassemble the together easily.
  • the triggering system Rather than linking the triggering system to the cable, it can easily be arranged so that it is actuated by a push button situated, for example, on the housing 14 of the plug.
  • the push button would act directly on the pawl 62, the element 50 remaining fixed; the triggering threshold then being provided by elastic means applied to the pawl 62 itself.
  • the device which is the subject of the invention is advantageously incorporated into the plug, it is advantageous for mobile vehicles for the device to be incorporated into the socket so that the disengagement takes place at the level of the mobile vehicle.
  • the electric cable connecting the vehicle to the current source advantageously remains linked to the latter and the presence of a socket (female) at the end of the cable prevents, after disengagement, that foreign bodies do not easily come into contact with live parts.
