Description
The invention relates to a heat exchanger, in particular for motor vehicles, of the type comprising a bundle of finned tubes immobilized relative to a collector-water box assembly.
Already known, from FR-A-2 560 368, a heat exchanger of this type in which the ends of the tubes are sealingly mounted in the holes of a collector on which a water box is fixed, and in which immobilization means are provided to oppose a relative movement, in particular by pivoting or twisting, of the bundle of tubes relative to the manifold.
In heat exchangers of the aforementioned type, the seal between the ends of the tubes and the edges of the manifold holes is generally ensured by a sheet of elastomer or similar material which covers the manifold and which has collars each of which is engaged between a end of a tube and the edge of a manifold hole.
When such a heat exchanger is handled before or during its mounting in a vehicle, or when it has been mounted in a vehicle, relative movements, in particular by pivoting or twisting, of the bundle of tubes may occur. to the collector. These movements, which are likely to occur especially in heat exchangers with a single row of aligned tubes, are detrimental to the seal between the ends of the tubes and the edges of the manifold holes.
The immobilization means provided in document FR-A-2 560 368 make it possible to establish a rigid connection between the beam and the collector, which is thus opposed to the relative displacements mentioned previously.
However, in this known heat exchanger, the immobilization means require to practice notches along the longitudinal edges of the fins or else to provide aligned openings formed through them, which means that structural fins have to be used. particular.
In addition, the means for immobilizing the aforementioned document comprise tabs molded in one piece with the water box or with the collector, or else fingers molded in one piece with the collector, which makes it necessary to manufacture specific parts by plastic molding.
The object of the invention is in particular to overcome the drawbacks mentioned above.
It is in particular an object of the invention to provide a heat exchanger of the type mentioned above, which uses standard fins.
It is also an object of the invention to provide such a heat exchanger which does not require or practically no modifications to the collector-water box assembly.
It is also an object of the invention to provide such a heat exchanger which can be manufactured easily and at low cost.
The invention proposes, for this purpose, a heat exchanger of the type comprising a bundle of tubes provided with fins, in which the ends of the tubes are sealingly mounted in the holes of a manifold, on which a box is fixed. water, and in which immobilization means are provided to oppose relative movement, in particular by pivoting or twisting, of the beam relative to the collector, said immobilization means comprising at least one attached element, interposed between the harness and the collector-water box assembly, comprising a first part suitable for bearing on the manifold-water box assembly and a second part extending parallel to the direction of the tubes of the bundle and suitable for bearing on opposite longitudinal edges of a group of several fins, adjacent to the manifold, characterized in that the immobilization means comprise at least one pair of opposite elements, each of which comprises a first part in the form of a leg suitable for being fixed to the water box (28) and a second part in the form of legs s' extending parallel to the direction of the bundle tubes.
Because the heat exchanger uses at least one insert to immobilize the beam relative to the collector, it is not necessary to provide fins of particular structure or to modify the structure of the collector-water box assembly .
It is thus possible to use standard fins. When mounting the heat exchanger, it suffices to interpose at least one immobilizing element between the bundle and the collector-water box assembly.
Advantageously, the first part and the second part of each element extend in substantially parallel planes with one another and these two parts are connected by a web.
The first part of each element is advantageously fixed to a boss of the water box, for example by means of a screw or other similar fixing member.
In a second embodiment of the invention, the immobilization means comprise a plate capable of being interposed flat between the collector and the group of fins, this plate having at least one opening for the passage of tubes of the bundle and with at least two attached legs perpendicular to the plate and adapted to bear respectively on two opposite longitudinal sides of the beam.
It is sufficient, during assembly of the heat exchanger, to interpose this plate between the bundle and the collector to ensure then immobilization of the beam relative to the collector-water box assembly.
In a first variant, the plate is adapted to bear under a peripheral rim projecting from the collector.
In another variant, the plate is suitable for bearing under a central part of the collector, which is framed by a projecting peripheral rim.
The plate and the legs which depend on it are advantageously formed in one piece, either from a stamped metal sheet, or by molding of a suitable plastic.
- la figure 1 est une vue partielle en coupe transversale d'un échangeur de chaleur selon une première forme de réalisation de l'invention;
- la figure 2 est une vue partielle en coupe transversale d'un échangeur de chaleur selon une seconde forme de réalisation de l'invention;

- Figure 1 is a partial cross-sectional view of a heat exchanger according to a first embodiment of the invention;
- Figure 2 is a partial cross-sectional view of a heat exchanger according to a second embodiment of the invention;
- Figure 3 is a partial cross-sectional view, along line III-III of Figure 4, of a heat exchanger according to a third embodiment of the invention, which constitutes a variant of the embodiment of the Figure 2; and
- Figure 4 is a partial elevational view of the immobilizing plate of the heat exchanger of Figure 3, applied to the fins of the bundle.
The heat exchanger partially shown in FIG. 1 comprises a
The collector, as just described so far, is of a conventional structure. Another collector-water box assembly of similar structure is generally mounted at the other end of the tubes.
Because the heat exchanger comprises a single row of tubes, it can happen that the collector-water box assembly moves, by pivoting or twisting, which can cause cuts at the
The invention makes it possible to overcome these drawbacks by means of immobilization which, in the example, comprise at least one pair of
The
In this first embodiment of the invention, it is possible to use a manifold and standard fins. It suffices simply to provide a water box with a particular structure comprising at least one pair of bosses.
In the embodiment of Figure 2, to which we now refer, the heat exchanger includes fins, a manifold and a standard type water box.
Immobilization between the
The
The
In the example, the
The invention thus makes it possible to produce, in a particularly simple manner, a heat exchanger in which the bundle of tubes is perfectly immobilized relative to the manifold-water box assembly. This prevents the appearance of relative movements likely to occur especially in the heat exchangers with a single row of tubes.
The invention applies very particularly to heat exchangers for motor vehicles, in particular to engine cooling radiators, or to passenger compartment heating radiators.
