Definitions
- the present invention relates to a float flushing mechanism and axially controlled by a push button, for a toilet flush tank.
- the invention relates to a flushing device of the kind described in document FR-A-2,580,694 and comprising a valve intended to be applied on the edge of the drain orifice formed in the bottom of the flushing tank. of water, this valve being mounted at the lower end or at the lower part of a tubular rod open at its opposite ends, so as to constitute a overflow tube allowing the evacuation of a possible overflow which could , for example, result from the faulty closing of the valve controlling the admission of water into the tank; above the valve is arranged a float, for example, constituted by the swollen lower part of said rod; this device also preferably comprising an external envelope comprising a bulged lower part or external bell intended to be fixedly installed in said tank and in which is housed with an axial movement ability, the internal float.
- valve or float-float movable assembly or assembly that is to say the opening of the drain or evacuation orifice of the flushing tank, is obtained by means of a pull button or push button device, the latter having the advantage of being less exposed to accidental or malicious tearing and of being able to be more easily arranged so as to ensure its inviolability.
- Hunting mechanisms controlled by push-button with vertical displacement are, for example, described in documents EP-A-0.124.458, EP-A-0.128.847, FR-A-2.591.250 and FR-A-2.580 .694.
- a device for actuating the flow valve comprising a control push-button with vertical movement, integral with a pushing member capable of sliding. axially and pivot laterally in a limited way, on either side of its sliding axis, so as to act on one or the other of the arms of a tilting lever, one of the arms of this lever being connected , via transmission members, to the flow valve, so that depending on whether the pushing member presses on one or the other of the arms of the pivoting lever, an upward pulling action is exerted causing the lifting of said valve or a downward pushing action causing the lowering of the latter in the direction of its seat.
- This device making it possible to interrupt the emptying, has the drawback of requiring the use of a relatively large number of parts to ensure the mechanical connection between the control push-button and the flow valve, which complicates the construction of the hunting mechanisms and adversely affects their cost price.
- these mechanical connection parts work with different movements (longitudinal movements, circular movements, or combination of these two movements, and with significant forces and friction, which promotes their jamming and blocking of the mechanism.
- the object of the invention is in particular to remedy these drawbacks, by producing an extremely simple flushing mechanism, which preferably uses a push-button control device with vertical displacement of the kind described in the document FR-A-2.591.250 and thanks to which there is no mechanical connection between the tubular rod carrying the valve and the lifting member thereof, so that the movements of these movable component parts of the flushing mechanism , cannot contradict each other.
- this objective is achieved by means of a flushing mechanism of the kind mentioned above, controlled by a push button, this flushing mechanism being mainly remarkable in that the float is equipped with a shutter movable axially and vertically, this shutter being able to be pressed against its seat constituted by the edge of the lower orifice of the overflow tube, under the thrust of the valve lifting member and under the pressure of the water evacuating from the tank, or away from said seat under the impulse of a thrust member secured to the transmission rod, so as to allow entry of water into said float causing the fall of the latter and the interruption of the hunting process.
- this flushing mechanism makes it possible to interrupt, at will, the emptying of the flushing tank, when it is estimated that the washing or rinsing of the bowl is carried out before all of the the water contained in said tank has not been removed, that is to say before the completion of the normal flushing process.
- this flushing mechanism is extremely simple, so that it can be produced very economically, in all suitable plastics, while all of its movable members move coaxially, without friction or with very low friction, c that is to say, in conditions favoring a good and lasting operation.
- This flushing mechanism comprises, in known manner, an outer casing designated as a whole by the reference 1 and comprising a cylindrical upper portion or vertical extension tube 2 and a bulged lower portion or external bell 3, also cylindrical and whose diameter is significantly higher than that of said extension tube; this outer envelope being intended to be fixedly installed in the flushing tank, as described in the remainder of this description.
- a "overflow" tube 4 comprising a lower orifice D and an upper orifice E, so as to allow automatic discharge of any excess that could result from the faulty closing of the tap controlling the admission of water to the tank.
- the valve 5 On the lower end of this tube, is fixed the valve 5 for closing the tank emptying orifice.
- This valve is, for example, constituted by a seal in the form of a circular crown and made of rubber or other similar material, installed in a peripheral groove that has a mount 4a constituting the lower end of the overflow tube 4 and the edge of the opening D.
- the lower portion of the overflow tube is shaped so as to constitute a float, which can advantageously be formed by the lower bulged portion 6 of said tube, the base of this float being placed above and at a reduced distance from the plane in which it is located. the upper face of the valve 5.
- the float 6 is housed, concentrically, in the outer bell 3 and an annular space or passage A is reserved between the cylindrical side walls of these two members.
- the upper part of the overflow tube 4 is housed, also concentrically, in the upper portion 2 of the outer casing 1, and an annular passage B is formed between the cylindrical side walls of said tube and said upper portion .
- This base designated as a whole by the reference 15, comprises a central orifice C, the upper circular edge 16 of which constitutes the seat of the valve 5.
- the base 15 When the hunting mechanism is positioned inside a hunting tank itself fixed on a toilet bowl, the base 15 is installed fixedly, by means of a nut (not shown) screwed onto the threaded lower cylindrical portion 15a of said base, in the orifice 17 that has the bottom 18 of the tank (partially shown in Figures 1 to 5). In this way, the central opening C of the base 15 constitutes the emptying orifice of said tank.
- the seal between the bottom 18 of the tank and the seat or bearing face of the base 15 is achieved by means of an intermediate annular seal 19 made of rubber or other suitable material.
- the base of the outer bell 3 and the base 15 are arranged in a complementary manner or provided with complementary joining means allowing them to be rigidly assembled, in a removable manner, while allowing the passage of water between said base and said base.
- the base 15 is, for example, provided with three guide and locking forks 20 spaced 120 degrees and between the branches of which the base of the outer bell 3 is engaged and retained, the internal branches 20a of these locking forks 20 and the collar 20b to which they are attached by their apex being provided with vertical ribs 20c serving as guides for the float 6, during the vertical movements thereof.
- the float is equipped with a shutter 21 movable axially and vertically and capable of being pressed against its seat constituted by the edge of the lower orifice D of the overflow tube 4, under the thrust of the tilting member 13 allowing the valve 5 to be raised or under the pressure of the water discharging from the tank, thereby ensuring the buoyancy of said float.
- the transmission rod 12 is provided with a pushing member 22 allowing the shutter 21 to be lowered and the lower orifice D to be opened, when the float 6 is in the raised buoyancy position. , so as to allow water to enter said float, causing it to submerge and the valve 5 to fall back onto its seat 16.
- the pushing member 22 is, for example, constituted by a ring wedged on the transmission rod 12, in the lower portion of it.
- the shutter 21 advantageously comprises a tubular body 23, preferably cylindrical, the top of which is closed by an upper wall 24 in which is formed a hole 25 for the passage of the transmission rod 12.
- the tubular body 23 is provided with an opercular flange 26 constituting a valve whose seat is formed by the lower face of the mounting 4a of the valve 5 delimiting the lower opening D of the overflow tube 4.
- This valve 26 can be formed in one piece with said tubular body.
- the body 23 of the shutter 21 comprises at least one and, preferably, two vertical partitions 27, parallel dividing the interior space of the body into several chambers, for example into three chambers 28, 29, 30.
- the intermediate chamber 29 includes the hole 25 for passage of the transmission rod 12, while the two lateral chambers 28 and 30 of equal volume and arranged symmetrically on each side of the chamber 29 are closed in leaktight manner at their top by the wall 24 and thus constitute air pockets improving the buoyancy of the shutter 21 and of the float 6.
- the body 23 is provided, externally and laterally, with stop fins 31 disposed at a distance from the opercular flange 26.
- stop fins 31 are housed in the float 6 and, when the shutter 21 is distant from its seat, they abut against the internal edge of the orifice D ( Figure 5).
- the presence of the stop fins limits the downward travel of the shutter 21, and the movement of the water which flows towards the emptying orifice C acts on the upper face of the opercular flange 26 and contributes to accelerating the movement of fall of the moving element and the closing of said orifice.
- the seat 16 of the valve 5 and the upper edge of the resistance arm 13a of the rocking lever 13 are reciprocally positioned, so that when the movable assembly constituted by the overflow tube 4, the float 6 and the valve 5 is in position low inactivity, it rests, via the underside of said valve, on the edge of the drain orifice C, while the opercular flange 26 is slightly away from its seat 4a, so as to reserve a space F between the latter and said seat and to open the lower overflow orifice D, said opercular flange resting on the upper edge of said resistance arm 13a of the rocking lever 13, this arrangement being more particularly shown in FIG. 6.
- the transmission rod 12 is lowered and the lever 13 is tilted, including the resistance arm 13a pivots upwards, causing, firstly, the lifting of the shutter 21 which closes the orifice D and, secondly, the lifting of the valve 5 and of the moving element 4-5-6.
- the water flows towards the drain orifice C through the openings 32 formed between the base of the bell 3 and the upper surface of the base 15 and, passing under the float 6, communicates an additional upward movement to said float, the upward movement is stopped by the thrust ring 22 which abuts the top 24 of the shutter 21 ( Figure 2), the latter remaining pressed against its seat under the effect of the pressure of the water which cannot enter in the float.
- the mobile assembly 4-5-6 remains in the high position as long as the buoyancy of the float remains ensured; at the end of emptying, the water level gradually drops and said movable assembly 4-5-6 naturally falls back into its rest position (FIG. 1) when there is no more water in the tank and the float 6 sustentatin is no longer guaranteed.
- This operation can be repeated several times during the same drain and this at any time.

Description
The present invention relates to a float flushing mechanism and axially controlled by a push button, for a toilet flush tank.
More specifically, the invention relates to a flushing device of the kind described in document FR-A-2,580,694 and comprising a valve intended to be applied on the edge of the drain orifice formed in the bottom of the flushing tank. of water, this valve being mounted at the lower end or at the lower part of a tubular rod open at its opposite ends, so as to constitute a overflow tube allowing the evacuation of a possible overflow which could , for example, result from the faulty closing of the valve controlling the admission of water into the tank; above the valve is arranged a float, for example, constituted by the swollen lower part of said rod; this device also preferably comprising an external envelope comprising a bulged lower part or external bell intended to be fixedly installed in said tank and in which is housed with an axial movement ability, the internal float.
Mechanisms like this are simple in design and work very satisfactorily. In addition, their component parts not being subjected to significant efforts, they can be executed very economically in any suitable rigid plastic material.
The lifting of the valve or float-float movable assembly or assembly, that is to say the opening of the drain or evacuation orifice of the flushing tank, is obtained by means of a pull button or push button device, the latter having the advantage of being less exposed to accidental or malicious tearing and of being able to be more easily arranged so as to ensure its inviolability.
According to these mechanisms, when the control push-button has been pressed and the flushing process has started, this process cannot be interrupted any more and the valve does not fall back into its seat until the tank has been completely emptied. Such an often desirable result can also constitute a drawback when an amount of water substantially less than the capacity of the tank is sufficient to obtain a good rinsing of the bowl. This therefore results in the use of excessive amounts of water which is regrettable both for the user and for the community.
Attempts have been made (FR-A-2,548,328) to overcome this drawback by a device for actuating the flow valve, comprising a control push-button with vertical movement, integral with a pushing member capable of sliding. axially and pivot laterally in a limited way, on either side of its sliding axis, so as to act on one or the other of the arms of a tilting lever, one of the arms of this lever being connected , via transmission members, to the flow valve, so that depending on whether the pushing member presses on one or the other of the arms of the pivoting lever, an upward pulling action is exerted causing the lifting of said valve or a downward pushing action causing the lowering of the latter in the direction of its seat.
This device making it possible to interrupt the emptying, has the drawback of requiring the use of a relatively large number of parts to ensure the mechanical connection between the control push-button and the flow valve, which complicates the construction of the hunting mechanisms and adversely affects their cost price. On the other hand, these mechanical connection parts work with different movements (longitudinal movements, circular movements, or combination of these two movements, and with significant forces and friction, which promotes their jamming and blocking of the mechanism.
The object of the invention is in particular to remedy these drawbacks, by producing an extremely simple flushing mechanism, which preferably uses a push-button control device with vertical displacement of the kind described in the document FR-A-2.591.250 and thanks to which there is no mechanical connection between the tubular rod carrying the valve and the lifting member thereof, so that the movements of these movable component parts of the flushing mechanism , cannot contradict each other.
According to the invention, this objective is achieved by means of a flushing mechanism of the kind mentioned above, controlled by a push button, this flushing mechanism being mainly remarkable in that the float is equipped with a shutter movable axially and vertically, this shutter being able to be pressed against its seat constituted by the edge of the lower orifice of the overflow tube, under the thrust of the valve lifting member and under the pressure of the water evacuating from the tank, or away from said seat under the impulse of a thrust member secured to the transmission rod, so as to allow entry of water into said float causing the fall of the latter and the interruption of the hunting process.
As explained in the remainder of this presentation, this flushing mechanism makes it possible to interrupt, at will, the emptying of the flushing tank, when it is estimated that the washing or rinsing of the bowl is carried out before all of the the water contained in said tank has not been removed, that is to say before the completion of the normal flushing process. In addition, this flushing mechanism is extremely simple, so that it can be produced very economically, in all suitable plastics, while all of its movable members move coaxially, without friction or with very low friction, c that is to say, in conditions favoring a good and lasting operation.

This flushing mechanism comprises, in known manner, an outer casing designated as a whole by the
The lower portion of the overflow tube is shaped so as to constitute a float, which can advantageously be formed by the lower bulged

- a
push button 7, axially and vertically movable, this push button being housed in acup 8 called to be fixedly installed in thehole 9 that has the cover 10 of the flush tanks for the passage of the rod of the control devices; thiscup 8 is, for example, integral a tubular rod (not shown) with an external thread through which it is screwed into the nut formed by the cap forming the top of theouter casing 1; - a spring 11 acting in compression and tending to push the
push button 7 outwards, that is to say upwards; this spring being for example wedged, by means of its opposite ends, on the one hand, against the underside of said push button and, on the other hand, against the bottom of thecup 8; - an
axial transmission rod 12 integral in axial translation with the push-button 7 and which can be connected to the latter via its upper end; this transmission rod passing longitudinally through the moving assembly 4-5-6; - and a
lifting member 13 mounted with a pivotability at the lower end of thetransmission rod 12 and arranged below thevalve 5; this member is, for example constituted by a cam or by a small lever of the first type, the oscillation axis of which is carried by across-member 14 fixedly disposed through the evacuation orifice of the base described below, au- below the valve seat.
This base, designated as a whole by the
When the hunting mechanism is positioned inside a hunting tank itself fixed on a toilet bowl, the
According to the invention, the float is equipped with a
The
On the other hand, the
The operation of the flushing mechanism according to the invention is described below.
L'eau remplit également les espaces A et B.During the filling or inactivity period (Figure 1), the movable assembly 4-5-6 of the mechanism is in the low position, the
By pressing the push-
When the
During a complete emptying of the tank, the mobile assembly 4-5-6 remains in the high position as long as the buoyancy of the float remains ensured; at the end of emptying, the water level gradually drops and said movable assembly 4-5-6 naturally falls back into its rest position (FIG. 1) when there is no more water in the tank and the
When it is desired to interrupt the emptying when the level N 'of the water is at any intermediate height, the push-
This operation can be repeated several times during the same drain and this at any time.
