Claims (5)

  1. Switching device for interrupting a circuit,
    - wherein there is arranged at least one three-pole module (13) which has a main current path (1) with at least one contact point (2) which can be switched by means of at least one tripping element or manually operated element, if applicable with interconnection of a latching mechanism;
    - wherein the switching device has two terminal ends (14, 15) so that when the contact point (2) is opened, one current path between two electric poles is formed per terminal end;
    - wherein the three-pole module or three-pole modules each has or have a forked branch (7), which with its fork ends is connected upstream and downstream of the contact point (2), with the forks each having a current-limiting device (8; 18).
  2. Switching device according to claim 1,
    characterised in that the current-limiting devices (8; 18) in the forks of the branch (7) are realized as at least two arc-quenching devices.
  3. Switching device according to claim 1 or 2,
    characterised in that the branches (7) of a plurality of modules (13) are each brought out to electrically homopolar terminals (17).
  4. Switching device according to claim 1 or 2,
    characterised in that two three-pole modules (13) are linked with their branches (7) and each form, with their other two poles, two electrical terminals at each terminal end.
  5. Switching device according to one of the claims 2 to 4, characterised in that an additional current-limiting element (21) is arranged in the line section of a branch (7).
