Description

The property right is a new RDS radio receiver, in particular an RDS car radio.

Program type identifiers are also provided in the radio data system defined at the beginning of 1984 and now established between the radio transmitters and correspondingly equipped radio receivers. Section 4.3 of the system definition states that the identifier makes it possible to program receivers in such a way that they only react to program contributions of the desired type, i. H. just play them through the speaker.

As a rule, only a limited installation space with a narrow access area is available for installing car radios in motor vehicles. After installing the car radio, this access area is covered by the device cap. The surface of this device cap only has enough space for a small number of controls. It is therefore known, by means of a so-called mode switch, to assign individual or all operating elements in the distinguishable modes to different switching functions and also to indicate the mode which is switched on in the display of the car radio.

The actuation of one of the operating elements while a certain mode is switched on is recorded in the memory associated with the mode. Another mode can then be selected using the mode switch without the previously selected setting of the operator being lost. To change the operation in the exited mode, this exited mode must be called up again using the mode switch.

The object of the invention was to integrate a special program type mode (PTY mode) into an existing car radio and to make it easier to operate the device in PTY mode, assign the necessary switching functions to the existing controls.

The invention for solving this problem is characterized by the features of the patent claim.

Anhand eines in

  • Figur 1 dargestellten Blockschaltbildes
wird die Erfindung näher erläutert.Using an in
  • Figure 1 shown block diagram
the invention is explained in more detail.

The block diagram shows the switching stages listed below which are important for the invention. An RF stage 2 is coupled to an antenna 1, the tuning unit of which comprises 3 station keys 11 and an automatic search function 19. The HF stage is connected to an IF stage 4, from which the LF signal can be tapped, which is fed to a LF amplifier 6 via a controlled switch 5 and reproduced via a loudspeaker 7.

Zugleich steuert der Ausgang der Vergleichsstufe 9 den Schalter 5.An RDS decoder 8 is connected in front of the switch 5 and has, among other things, outputs for the program type identifiers PTY contained in the RDS signal and for the program chain identifier PI. The PTY output is connected to a comparison stage 9, the control output of which is connected to the automatic transmitter search function 19. At the same time, the output of comparison stage 9 controls switch 5.

The second input of the comparison stage 9 is connected to memories 10a, 10b ... which are assigned to the station buttons 11a, 11b ... in the program type PTY mode. A program type identifier PTY can be read into each of the memories 10. For this purpose, the memories 10 are connected to an identification generator 12, which is controlled by a rocker 13 becomes. The program type identifier called up via the rocker 13 is shown on the display 14. This display is also connected to the tuning unit 3 to show the set frequency.

Each station button 11 is assigned frequency memory 15 and transmitter chain identifier memory (PI memory) 16, which are connected to the automatic station search 19 or the PI output of the RDS decoder 18.

Furthermore, a ring counter 17 is assigned to each station key 11, which counts the number of key actuations and successively calls the PI memories 16. In addition, comparison stage 9 is connected to the counter input of the ring counter.

A circuit constructed in this way serves to achieve the object on which the invention is based in the following way.

The solution was based on the consideration that a certain car radio user does not pay the same interest to all types of programs offered. It is therefore not necessary to be able to access all 31 program types available in the RDS system in the same way and easily. For this reason, the station buttons were selected for quick selection of the preferred program type.

In the PTY mode set with the mode switch 18, memories 10 are connected to each station key, in which one of the PTY identifiers can be stored. A PTY identifier generator 12 is switched from identifier to identifier in PTY mode by means of a rocker switch 13, with which the next respective transmitter is sought in normal radio mode. If one of the preferred identifiers is reached and the station button 11 is pressed within a predetermined period of time after actuation of the rocker switch 13, with which the preferred program type is later called up If so, the identifier reached is stored in the station key memory 10.

When the station button is pressed later, a station search is triggered with the automatic search 19 in the FM range, in the course of which the first station that broadcasts the stored program type is set. Its frequency can be stored in the frequency memory 15. It is also shown on the display. By pressing the station button again, the second transmitter can be set that transmits the desired program type.

If other identifiers are stored for other station buttons, the frequency memory of the other station buttons, which are now program buttons, can always be updated when initiating a search, regardless of which station button is used.

The storage of the different transmitter frequencies that broadcast the same program type is particularly advantageous if these transmitters are assigned to different program chains. Each program chain is assigned a specific PI code in the radio data system. If stations of the same program type PTY but different transmitter chains PI are found in the aforementioned search run, it is advisable to also store the PI codes assigned to the transmitter frequencies and to order these frequencies in the memories according to the PI code. The transmitter chains can then be called up one after the other by repeatedly pressing the station / program type button. For this purpose, the number of operations is counted in a ring counter 17, which is connected to the station program key 11, and a different PI code is called up each time the ring counter is set.

If a driver listens to a certain type of program for a longer period of time, one of the stored stations can now choose his program type have changed. If the program key, under which these stations were previously stored, is pressed and the comparison stage determines that the program type identifier is no longer correct when this station is received, then the comparison stage 9 automatically switches the assigned ring counter 17 to the next position, ie to a station on another station chain that may still be broadcasting the desired program type. If the desired program can still not be received via any of the stored stations, then a new search run is triggered over the entire frequency spectrum, the frequency memories being updated.
