Description

The invention relates to an intake silencer with an air filter, in particular for two-stroke internal combustion engines, consisting of a rigid housing which is divided by a partition into two chambers which are connected by at least two pipes passing through the partition, the first larger chamber having an inlet pipe and one Has filter insert and the connecting tubes connecting the two chambers have different diameters and / or lengths.

Such an intake silencer is already known (AT-B 235 089). In addition to the two chambers, namely the so-called clean air chamber and the secondary damper chamber, a primary damper chamber and an intermediate damper chamber are also provided, the one connecting pipe as a clean air pipe merging into a diffuser section which leads to the outlet or is connected to the carburetor. This connecting tube has only slit-shaped openings within the second chamber, namely the secondary damper chamber and the primary damper chamber. A second shorter connecting pipe with a smaller diameter extends from the Clean air chamber only in the intermediate damper chamber, which has no outlet opening. So there is a comparatively complicated sheet metal design in which increased pressure losses are to be expected. Since the muffler is only flowed through in one direction, there is insufficient damping due to the lack of appropriate reflections.

The invention is therefore based on the object of providing an intake silencer of the type described at the outset which, with a comparatively simple construction, ensures good sound absorption even with high engine output.

The invention achieves the object in that the second chamber has an outlet pipe and that the inlet pipe consists of a diffuser divided into two or more channels of different lengths.

Since the inlet pipe is designed as a diffuser, there are lower pressure losses without having to enlarge the diameter and thereby achieve poorer acoustic values. The channels of different lengths in the diffuser make a significant contribution to improving the damping caused by interference. Due to the different dimensions of the actual connecting pipes, the formation of pronounced natural frequencies is suppressed, which also improves noise damping. In addition, there is a simplified construction, since there are really only two chambers.

Volumina erzielt. In a further embodiment of the invention, the inlet pipe forming the diffuser is arranged opposite the connecting pipes or these opposite the outlet pipe in the sense of reversing the direction of flow in the first and / or second chamber. As a result, the damping is improved by additional reflections without increasing the cross sections or volumes.

It is also particularly expedient if an insulating insert which is separated from the housing wall by an air gap is provided in the second chamber. This insulating insert reduces the sound transmission to the housing and thus the sound radiation from the housing surface.

Different lengths of the pipes or channels are achieved in the simplest way in that the outlet end of the inlet pipe and at least one of the two ends of the connecting pipes each have an edge which is oblique to the pipe axis.

In the drawing, the subject matter of the invention is shown in one embodiment, namely show

Fig. 2
an associated cross section along the line II-II of FIG. 1st

The intake silencer has a rigid housing 1, which is divided into two chambers 1a, 1b by a partition 2. The partition 2 is interrupted by three connecting pipes 3, 4, 5, which lead from the chamber 1a into the chamber 1b. The chamber 1a has an inlet pipe 6 which forms a diffuser which is divided into four channels 8 of different lengths by a cross-shaped insert 7. The different length of these channels 8 will achieved in that the outlet end of the inlet tube 6 has an edge 9 inclined to the tube axis. An air filter 10 is inserted in the chamber 1a.

The three connecting pipes 3, 4, 5 have different diameters and, due to their likewise inclined edge 9a, also have different lengths. An outlet connection 11 leads from the chamber 1b to the internal combustion engine. The arrangement of the inlet pipe 6 with respect to the connecting pipes 3, 4, 5 or the latter with respect to the outlet connection 11 is provided such that the direction of flow of the sucked-in air reverses both in the first larger chamber 1a and in the second chamber 1b. In the second chamber 1b, an insulation insert 12 is provided which is separated from the housing wall by an air gap in order to reduce the sound transmission to the housing 1 and thus to radiate sound from the housing surface.
