Claims (7)
- Cylinder covered with a printing blanket which is held upon the cylinder (1) by completely surrounding this cylinder without any interruption in the manner of a sleeve and which comprises a base layer (4) adhesively bonded onto the external surface (1a) of the cylinder (1), characterized in that the said base layer without any interruption is made from cellular rubber, has a modulus of elasticity in compression lying between about 0.1 and 100 megapascals (MPa) and is associated towards its surface opposite to that adhesively bonded onto the cylinder (1) with other layers without any interruption (5, 6) excluding fabrics and comprising at least one layer of hard elastomer (5) which is reinforced with fibers and which is associated with a lithographic or printing layer (6).
- Cylinder according to claim 1, characterized in that the base layer (4) of cellular rubber has a thickness lying between about 0.1 and 8 mm and is made fast to the external surface (1a) of the cylinder (1) by a layer of adhesive (3) with a thickness lying between about 0.01 and 0.2 mm and the aforesaid layer of hard elastomer (5) has a thickness lying between about 0.05 and 0.5 mm.
- Cylinder according to claim 2, characterized in that the aforesaid base layer (4) has a thickness equal to about 2.5 mm and the aforesaid layer of hard elastomer (5) has a thickness of about 0.25 mm.
- Cylinder according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the modulus of elasticity in compression of the layer of cellular rubber (4) is equal to about 9 megapascals.
- Cylinder according to one of the foregoing claims, characterized in that the volume percentage of the gas enclosed in the layer of cellular rubber (4) preferably in closed cells is lying between about 10 and 80%.
- Cylinder according to claim 5, characterized in that the aforesaid gas volume percentage is lying between about 12 and 15%.
- Cylinder according to claim 1, characterized in that the thickness of the lithographic layer (6) is equal to or below 0.25 mm.
