Description

The present invention relates to surge protective devices intended for the protection of power lines, in particular of medium voltage overhead lines.

Devices of this type are known in which the insulating element disposed between the two capsules or terminal connection electrodes is constituted by a stack of varistors based on zinc oxide (Zn0) maintained under axial pressure. In known constructions, this stack and the elastic pressure means are contained inside a rigid tube made of an insulating material, itself sheathed by a plastic envelope, the assembly formed by said tube and envelope giving the aforementioned stacking the mechanical strength and sealing necessary for the practical use of the device.

It goes without saying that the presence of the rigid tube and of the elastic pressure means complicates and increases the cost of manufacturing the surge protective devices. We have therefore thought of dispensing with them by operating the direct mechanical assembly of the varistors and the terminal electrodes, the rigid assembly thus obtained then being simply sheathed in an insulating protective envelope. Such an assembly can in principle be carried out by bonding, but it is obviously necessary to use an adhesive of a conductive nature in order to allow the passage of current in the stack; However, tests have shown that conductive adhesives age very badly, to the point that many of the surge arresters thus produced quickly lose their effectiveness.

C'est à cet inconvénient qu'entend remédier la présente invention, laquelle a pour objet le dispositif parafoudre défini à la revendication 1.It is to this drawback that the present invention intends to remedy, which relates to the arrester device defined in claim 1.

In fact, the invention consists in placing between the facing faces of the constituent elements (varistors and electrodes) of the insulation stack, intermediate parts with corrugated profile which by crushing provide the electrical connection and which are profiled to provide free areas suitable for receiving the layer of glue necessary for the mutual assembly of the aforementioned elements.

It is understood that one thus dispenses with any conductive glue and that one can have recourse to any adhesive substance, to the point that bonding can in certain cases be ensured by the synthetic material which is overmolded on the insulation stack to constitute the waterproof protective envelope.

The appended drawing, given by way of example, will allow a better understanding of the invention, the characteristics which it presents and the advantages which it is capable of providing:

Fig. 1 is a schematic axial section of a lightning arrester device established in accordance with the present invention.

Fig. 2 is a perspective view illustrating a first embodiment of the invention, the parts being shown before assembly.

Fig. 3 is a vertical section showing the parts after assembly by pressing and gluing.

Fig. 4 and 5, respectively 6 and 7, similarly represent two alternative embodiments.

Fig. 8 to 11 illustrate a second embodiment of the invention.

The device shown in fig. 1 essentially comprises an insulating element formed by the rigid and resistant assembly of a stack of varistors 1 maintained under pressure between two terminal connection electrodes 2, which element 1-2 is covered in a sealed manner by an insulating envelope 3 which with annular projections 3a is directly obtained by overmoulding a synthetic material on said member.

It should be noted here that if in the following developments, the assembly method according to the invention has been described and illustrated as interesting two superimposed varistors 1, the explanations must be considered valid with regard to the assembly of each of the electrodes 2 with the varistor 1 at the end.

The mode of implementation shown in fig. 2 and 3 uses a spacer 4 formed by a washer with a corrugated profile, the outside diameter of which is slightly smaller than that of each of the varistors 1. On the transverse face of each of these, a layer of glue 5 in the form of a disc, the diameter of which is less than the inside diameter of the corrugated washer 4.

It is understood that if an axial pressure is applied to the two varistors 1 superimposed with the interposition of the washer 4, the assembly shown in FIG. 3 and it can be seen that the washer 4 is crushed between the two varistors 1, linked to each other by the glue coming from the discs 5. The electrical connection is ensured in very good conditions by the washer 4 in the crushed state, while the bonding in 5 makes it possible to obtain a rigid and resistant assembly.

The variant according to fig. 4 and 5 is distinguished from the above embodiment only in that each adhesive disc 5 is lined with an adhesive ring 50 which surrounds the washer 4.

6 and 7, the adhesive layer 5 is in the form of two rigid pads which occupy the opening of the corrugated washer 4 and which cooperate with an intermediate disc 6, capable of being made either of an elastomer or of aluminum . This central disc 6 is intended to improve, by crushing, the elastic pressure effect exerted on the varistors 1.

8 to 11 another embodiment of the invention, according to which the intermediate piece provided between the faces facing the varistors 1 is constituted by an insert 40 comprising a central part integral with radial branches (in number four in the example considered), each of these branches having a wavy profile. Fig. 10 shows the assembly obtained after axial pressure and crushing of the corrugated profile of the insert 40. It was further assumed that the bonding was here ensured by the synthetic material which is overmolded on the insulating body of the arrester for the realization of the outer casing 3, which material is introduced at 30 between the branches of the insert 40.

It goes without saying that the shape of the intermediate piece 4 or 40 can vary to a large extent, provided that this piece, due to the elastic deformability of its constituent material and having regard to its initial profile, is capable of collapsing during bonding to guarantee a good connection and that said conformation ensures the distribution of the mechanical assembly and electrical connection zones.
