Definitions
- the invention relates to a belt buckle for webbing restraint systems, in which the shoulder straps pass into the lap belt as they pass through the lock, in particular for child bucket seats, consisting of a lock housing with a locking mechanism and two belt strap holding pieces that can be connected to the mechanism and can be separated at the push of a button, each of which are provided with a slot inclined at an angle of essentially 45 ° to the central longitudinal axis of the lock for the passage of the respective webbing and which are arranged in connection with the lock housing in such a way that - seen in a lateral projection - they are partially set back relative to the plug side of the lock housing.
- Such a buckle is known for example from WO-A 86 033 86 and described in detail in connection with FIG. 4 there.
- the two webbing holding pieces are designed and arranged with respect to the lock housing in such a way that they are placed relative to one another form small body contact surface, their slots for guiding the straps are often also placed unfavorably.
- the webbing holding pieces connected to the lock housing protrude very far beyond the lock housing, in particular also laterally.
- These laterally protruding webbing holding pieces not only cause the lock to exert an uncomfortable fit on the body of the person secured by the webbing retention system as well as an undesirable pressure on the body, but they represent a punctual loading for the body, especially under extreme loads, since they do not have sufficient contact surface on the body, but in this area a considerable force is introduced into the system.
- this can also result in a problem-free passage of the belt straps through the holding pieces.
- the invention has for its object to improve a generic buckle in such a way that the aforementioned disadvantages are avoided and a buckle with a compact structure and as even a pressure distribution on the body is achieved with perfect passage of the straps.
- webbing holding pieces if they lie against one another as intended and are connected to the lock housing, extend essentially without clearance to the lock housing first along the plug-in side and then at least partially along the two long sides of the lock housing, so that they with the lock housing form a substantially closed contact surface.
- the belt strap holding pieces extend along the long sides between half to three quarters of the length of the long sides of the belt buckle.
- the slots of the webbing holding pieces are set back by one third to half their length in relation to the housing plug side arranged.
- Such a buckle viewed from above, has an approximately butterfly-like appearance and is therefore compact in construction, although an enlarged contact surface is achieved by means of the strap holding pieces, because these are designed to be larger, but without having larger dimensions outwards.
- the straps now extending essentially from the central longitudinal axis of the lock and extending adjacent to and along the lock housing are particularly suitable for wide straps.
- the butterfly-shaped outline of the entire lock thus results in a reduced contact pressure on the body of a person secured with this lock.
- the special angular position of the slots in the webbing holding pieces ensures that the webbing runs perfectly through the slots under all circumstances. Pinching or clamping the belt in the end areas of the slots is now safely avoided.
- the proposed slot position relative to the lock housing and the resulting higher arrangement of the lock housing with respect to the holding pieces also enables the lock housing to have more scope for its assembly, that is to say the distance between the lock housing and its lower attachment point on the restraint system is increased. The position of the entire lock in the restraint system and in relation to the person to be secured can thus be optimized.
- the belt buckle generally designated 1, consists of a lock housing 2, which contains the usual lock mechanism, not shown, which is unlocked by means of a release button 3, and of two belt strap holding pieces 4 and 5 for holding and guiding a belt strap or two belt strap sections 6 and 7.
- the belt buckle shown is used in connection with belt webbing restraint systems in which the shoulder belt straps 8, 9 pass into the lap belt 10 as they pass through the holding pieces locked with the lock housing 2, as shown in the drawing.
- Such belt systems are generally used in connection with child bucket seats that are used in motor vehicles.
- the lap belt is guided through slots in the bucket seat and then runs around the outside of the bucket seat.
- the lap belt sections 10 can also be attached laterally to the bucket seat.
- the webbing sections 8 and 9 usually extend further upward and form the shoulder straps, while the lock housing 2 has a lower eyelet 11 for the attachment of a separate, generally short piece of webbing.
- the one belt strap holding piece 4 made of plastic has a customary, recessed metal tongue 12 which interacts with the mentioned locking mechanism
- the other belt strap holding piece 5 made entirely of plastic has an extension 13 has a passage 14 and is arranged with the extension on the tongue 12 with a plug seat.
- both holding pieces 4, 5 can also have a tongue, in which case both tongues engage in the locking mechanism.
- the belt strap holding pieces 4, 5 are designed in such a way that, in the intended plug-in position, they laterally extend away from the lock housing 2 along the housing plug side 15 or from the central longitudinal axis 16 of the lock 1 and then along the long sides 17 and 18 extend the lock housing. In the case shown, only the holding piece 5 adjoins the housing on the plug side, but the other holding piece 4 can also adjoin the plug side 15 of the housing 2, for example if it has its own tongue.
- the holding pieces 4, 5 preferably extend over a part of the long sides 17, 18, specifically over a section which corresponds to approximately half to three quarters of the length of the long sides of the lock housing 2.
- areas 19, 20 are formed on the holding pieces, which represent additional contact surfaces for supporting the entire lock on the body of a person and have a pressure-reducing effect.
- the holding pieces 4, 5 each have a customary slot 21 or 22 for the passage of the webbing sections 6, 7. These slots form an angle of essentially 45 ° with the central longitudinal axis 16 of the lock, as shown in the drawing.
- the slots are further arranged so that they are set back with respect to the plug-in side 15 of the housing 2, such that - as seen in a lateral projection - they partially overlap with the lock housing. This coverage is preferably one third to half the length of the slots.
- the slots 21, 22 are adjoined on both sides by recessed webbing guides 23 and 24, the end faces 25 and 26 of which in the direction of the respective running direction of the relevant webbing sections 8, 9; 10 run to support the guidance of the webbing sections.

Description
The invention relates to a belt buckle for webbing restraint systems, in which the shoulder straps pass into the lap belt as they pass through the lock, in particular for child bucket seats, consisting of a lock housing with a locking mechanism and two belt strap holding pieces that can be connected to the mechanism and can be separated at the push of a button, each of which are provided with a slot inclined at an angle of essentially 45 ° to the central longitudinal axis of the lock for the passage of the respective webbing and which are arranged in connection with the lock housing in such a way that - seen in a lateral projection - they are partially set back relative to the plug side of the lock housing.
Such a buckle is known for example from WO-A 86 033 86 and described in detail in connection with FIG. 4 there.
In the belt buckles of the aforementioned type used in practice, the two webbing holding pieces are designed and arranged with respect to the lock housing in such a way that they are placed relative to one another form small body contact surface, their slots for guiding the straps are often also placed unfavorably. Furthermore, the webbing holding pieces connected to the lock housing protrude very far beyond the lock housing, in particular also laterally. These laterally protruding webbing holding pieces not only cause the lock to exert an uncomfortable fit on the body of the person secured by the webbing retention system as well as an undesirable pressure on the body, but they represent a punctual loading for the body, especially under extreme loads, since they do not have sufficient contact surface on the body, but in this area a considerable force is introduced into the system. Among other things, this can also result in a problem-free passage of the belt straps through the holding pieces.
Proceeding from this, the invention has for its object to improve a generic buckle in such a way that the aforementioned disadvantages are avoided and a buckle with a compact structure and as even a pressure distribution on the body is achieved with perfect passage of the straps.
This object is achieved according to the invention in that the webbing holding pieces, if they lie against one another as intended and are connected to the lock housing, extend essentially without clearance to the lock housing first along the plug-in side and then at least partially along the two long sides of the lock housing, so that they with the lock housing form a substantially closed contact surface.
In a preferred embodiment of the belt buckle according to the invention, the belt strap holding pieces extend along the long sides between half to three quarters of the length of the long sides of the belt buckle. The slots of the webbing holding pieces are set back by one third to half their length in relation to the housing plug side arranged.
Such a buckle, viewed from above, has an approximately butterfly-like appearance and is therefore compact in construction, although an enlarged contact surface is achieved by means of the strap holding pieces, because these are designed to be larger, but without having larger dimensions outwards. The straps now extending essentially from the central longitudinal axis of the lock and extending adjacent to and along the lock housing are particularly suitable for wide straps. The butterfly-shaped outline of the entire lock thus results in a reduced contact pressure on the body of a person secured with this lock.
Furthermore, the special angular position of the slots in the webbing holding pieces ensures that the webbing runs perfectly through the slots under all circumstances. Pinching or clamping the belt in the end areas of the slots is now safely avoided. The proposed slot position relative to the lock housing and the resulting higher arrangement of the lock housing with respect to the holding pieces also enables the lock housing to have more scope for its assembly, that is to say the distance between the lock housing and its lower attachment point on the restraint system is increased. The position of the entire lock in the restraint system and in relation to the person to be secured can thus be optimized.
The invention is explained below with reference to an embodiment shown in the accompanying single drawing.
The belt buckle, generally designated 1, consists of a
The belt buckle shown is used in connection with belt webbing restraint systems in which the shoulder belt straps 8, 9 pass into the
In the case shown, the one belt
The belt
The
The
24 an, deren Endflächen 25 bzw. The
