Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a makeup assembly using a fluid makeup product capable of hardening by evaporation of a solvent, in particular a makeup assembly using a mascara.
  • the makeup assemblies using a fluid product comprise a reservoir of fluid makeup product and a cap closing the reservoir and carrying, at the end of a rod, an applicator member of said fluid makeup product.
  • the rod enters the reservoir when the makeup assembly is closed, so as to immerse the applicator member in the fluid product.
  • the applicator member can be constituted by a brush, a brush of the cylindrical or conical brush type, a flexible and tapered element, generally called "feather", of conical or cylindroconical shape having or not a flocked surface, or a foam or felt tip.
  • Certain plastics such as polyesters, used to manufacture the tank, have a non-negligible permeability to certain solvents of the fluid product and, consequently, during storage, the solvent tends to evaporate or escape through the tank walls.
  • the fluid product therefore tends to harden during storage and can no longer, after a certain storage time, be removed satisfactorily using the applicator member.
  • drying can cause deterioration of the fluid product.
  • This problem is particularly important in the case of mascara compositions, since these contain only a very small amount of solvent, this solvent is most often water: mascara contains, for example, from 5 to 15% by weight of water.
  • EP-AO 163 323 relates to an applicator assembly for mascara, comprising at the bottom of the part containing the mascara, a chamber provided with wiping lips.
  • the chamber can be filled with the same cosmetic as the rest of the tank or with another substance (cleaning agent and / or disinfectant), or simply with air.
  • the mascara brush can enter the room to clean or wash charge with an aseptic liquid. Furthermore, the action of the wiping lips during the movements of entry and exit of the brush prevents the formation of a deposit of mascara on the brush.
  • said product is brought into contact, in the reservoir, with a retention element loaded with solvent, and capable of releasing this solvent over time, to refluidify gradually the makeup product.
  • the present invention therefore relates to a makeup assembly using a fluid makeup product capable of hardening by evaporation of a solvent, said assembly comprising a reservoir for containing said fluid product and a cap carrying a rod provided with a penetrating applicator member. in the reservoir, so that in the closed position of the makeup assembly, the applicator member is immersed in the fluid product, the reservoir containing a retention element loaded with cosmetically acceptable solvent and capable of releasing this solvent during the time to fluidize the fluid which is in contact with the fluid M and which is arranged in the reservoir between the bottom of the latter and the applicator member.
  • the retention element is advantageously of cylindrical shape. It may also be totally or partially crossed by a conical or cylindrical recess and, in this case, the applicator element is preferably at least partially disposed inside the retention element.
  • the retention element can be introduced directly into the bottom of the tank; in this case, it advantageously has an external shape complementary to that of the bottom of the tank, so as to be held there by simple friction.
  • it can, for example, be contained in an adaptable hollow plug, in particular by screwing or snap-fastening, on the bottom of the tank; under these conditions, it is possible to change or recharge the retention element in a cosmetically acceptable solvent, when it is too dry to be able to release solvent into the fluid product.
  • a filter for regulating the passage of the solvent is disposed between the retention element and the end of the applicator member.
  • the filter is, in particular, constituted by a weft made of a polyamide such as that corresponding to the trade name of "Nylon".
  • This filter can be fixed on a ring, which is introduced into the tank. It is also possible to fix it directly on the retention element, by peripheral bonding or using a circlip.
  • the filter is preferably fixed to said plug using a ring or by gluing.
  • the retention element is made up of any material capable of absorbing a solvent. It can be made of a porous solid material such as a cellulose pad, a natural or synthetic sponge, a porous stone, a porous ceramic or a porous plastic. It can also consist of a semi-rigid aqueous gel, which does not tend to flow into the reservoir; in the latter case, the retention element is preferably prepared directly in the tank by introducing an aqueous solution into the tank containing the gelling agent and modifying the conditions, for example pH, to cause the formation of the gel.
  • the gelling agent is, for example, carboxymethylcellulose or a product sold under the trade name "CARBOPOL" by the company GOODRICH BF Chemical Company.
  • the retention element is a reservoir closed by a semi-permeable membrane, the solvent contained in the reservoir being able to pass through the semi-permeable membrane only in the form of vapor.
  • the solvent for the makeup fluid and the cosmetically acceptable solvent introduced into the retention material may be different but are preferably identical so as not to modify the properties of the makeup fluid. It is understood that the cosmetically acceptable solvent depends on the nature of the makeup fluid product and that any cosmetically acceptable solvent making it possible to thin the makeup product can be used.
  • the cosmetically acceptable solvent is, most often, water. However, it can also be constituted by a polar solvent, more particularly polyethylene glycol.
  • the cosmetically acceptable solvent can also be gelled; it can, for example, be gelled in the porous solid material by loading this material with a solvent containing the gelling agent and by modifying the conditions to form the gel in situ.
  • the embodiment used depends on the porous solid material used.
  • the makeup assembly shown in FIG. 1 uses a mascara and is designated by 1 as a whole; it has a generally elongated cylindrical shape and comprises a cap 2 and a reservoir 3. Inside the cap 2 is fixed, by fitting, a rod 4 which carries, according to the embodiment shown, a brush 5 at its opposite end at the end of attachment to the cap.
  • the reservoir 3 is closed at one of its ends by a bottom 6 and the opposite end is open.
  • a wringer 7 part of which is pressed into the tank 3 and carries the wiping lips 7 a ; the other part of the wiper is arranged outside the reservoir 3 and carries on its outer wall an external screw pitch 8 which cooperates with an internal screw pitch 9 of the cap 2.
  • a porous solid retention element 10 which has a cylindrical shape.
  • This element 10 consists of a pad of cellulosic material loaded with water.
  • a filter 11 mounted on a ring 11 a ; the filter 11 is constituted by a fine nylon weft.
  • the reservoir 3 is filled with mascara M. It can therefore be seen that the mascara is in contact, via the filter 11, with the retention element 10 which is loaded with water.
  • the mascara dries out, because part of the water it contains crosses the walls of the reservoir 3 and, possibly also, part of the solvent is evaporated during the opening of the together to sample mascara.
  • part of the water contained in the retention element 10 migrates into the mascara M through the filter 11 and restores the mascara M to a suitable fluidity so that it can be removed. using the brush 5.
  • the porous element 10 is introduced into the reservoir 3 and it is loaded with water beforehand.
  • the ring 11 a carrying the filter 11 is then introduced, then the mascara is poured into the reservoir 3.
  • the wiper 7 is fixed to the open end of the reservoir 3 and the cap carrying the rod 4 and the brush is screwed 5.
  • FIG. 2 represents a second embodiment of a makeup set for mascara according to the invention.
  • Constituent elements which are analogous or have a function similar to those described in connection with FIG. 1, will be designated by references equal to the sum of the number 100 and the reference used for the corresponding element in Figure 1; their description will not be repeated or will be made succinctly.
  • the retention element 110 is contained in a hollow plug 106 which is forced into the reservoir 103 at the end opposite the cap 102 so as to form the bottom of the tank 103.
  • the filter 111 is fixed on the side wall of the plug 106 on the end of said plug which is inside the tank; in this way, it is stretched in the vicinity of the surface of the retention element 110 which is contained in the hollow plug 106.
  • the plug 106 containing the retention element 110 loaded with water and carrying the filter 111 is introduced at the end of the reservoir 103 and the reservoir 103 is filled with mascara M
  • the wiper 107 is then placed, then it is closed using the cap 102 which carries the rod 104 and the brush 105.
  • the cap 106 can be removed and then, or else replaced on the reservoir by a new cap 106 containing a new retention element 110 loaded with solvent, or replace the retention element 110 in the cap with a new identical or different retention element loaded with solvent, or else simply load with solvent the retention element 110 contained in the cap 106.
  • the solvent used is water, as is frequently the case for mascara, it is very easy for the user of the makeup set to saturate, as often as desired, the retention element.
