Abstract

A torque spanner contains an elongated outer housing (50), an inner part (54) extending in the outer housing (50) and pivotably connected thereto in the vicinity of a first end of the torque spanner, a gripping part (52) arranged at the second end of the torque spanner, a tool (58) arranged at the first end of the torque spanner on the outer housing (50), and a spring-loaded toggle mechanism (82) which acts between the gripping part (52) and the outer housing (50) carrying the tool (58) and which is released when a torque transmitted to the tool (58) via the gripping part (52), the toggle mechanism (82) and the outer housing (50) is exceeded, and permits a pivoting movement between outer housing (50) and inner part (54). The inner part (54) is rigidly fastened to the gripping part (52). <IMAGE>
