Description

When operations must be carried out at specific locations, an overhead crane with a telescopic mast is used, the elementary drums of which develop towards the ground. Such a device is used, for example, for aircraft maintenance, the operator being mounted on a platform or nacelle in cantilever associated with the lower part of the last barrel with respect to which it can change orientation.

This movement of the platform or nacelle causes torsions and bending forces on the barrels, so much so that means must be provided to absorb these forces without affecting the proper functioning of the assembly.

For other applications, it has been proposed in DE-C-921 172 and FR-A-2 448 606, telescopic assemblies also comprising several elements movable relative to each other by means of cables and pulleys as well as guide means.

The solutions described in these documents, even if a person skilled in the art thought of transposing them for the production of a telescopic mast for overhead traveling cranes, do not however make it possible to produce a light structure capable of absorbing the forces due to the rotation of the platform as well as ensuring the resumption of bending forces when the nacelle is mounted cantilevered.

The invention makes it possible to solve these problems and relates to an improvement to the masts subject of DE-C-3 528 996, the mast according to the invention being characterized in that the pulleys for the passage of the auxiliary cables are located on three nonadjacent faces of the barrels distributed angularly in a regular manner with respect to the geometric axis of these barrels and in that the means for guiding the latter are disposed on three other nonadjacent faces.

In a preferred embodiment, the barrels are produced by means of a tubular lattice frame with a hexagonal section, three partitions of each barrel not adjacent carrying the guides, while the pulleys are supported by the other three partitions.

The appended drawing, given by way of example, will allow a better understanding of the invention, the characteristics which it presents and the advantages which it is capable of providing:
  • - Figure 1 is a general view of an overhead crane provided with a vertical mast established in accordance with the invention and whose telescopic elements have been shown in section;

Fig. 4 is a partial view in large scale of one of the telescopic elements in the isolated state.

There is shown in fig. 1 an overhead crane 1 intended to move by means of wheels 2 supported on raceways 3, said overhead crane being provided with a carriage 4 suitable for moving transversely by means of wheels 5, relative to the main beam of the overhead crane.

In the embodiment shown, the carriage 4 is secured to a telescopic mast 6 produced by means of a number of drums sliding one inside the other.

The chassis of the carriage 4 is associated with a fixed barrel 7 in which a first barrel 8 can slide, which encloses a second barrel 9 in which an extreme barrel 10 can move, the lower end of which is secured to a platform or nacelle 11. The barrel 10 is integral with an orientation ring 11a which cooperates with a pinion 12 carried by a geared motor 13 to ensure the rotation of the platform or nacelle relative to the barrel 10.

De manière semblable, un second câble 16 est attaché par un de ses bouts 16a à l'extrémité supérieure du fût 8, puis il passe autour d'une poulie 17 associée au fût 9, son autre bout 16b étant fixé à l'extrémité supérieure du dernier fût 10.In the known manner, the sliding of the barrels is carried out by means of auxiliary cables 14 whose ends are attached to the upper end on the one hand of any barrel and on the other hand of that of the barrel located at the outside of the one around him directly. In other words, one of the ends 14a of the cable 14 is attached to the carriage 4, then this cable passes around a pulley 15 carried by the interior of the barrel 8 located immediately inside that 7, then the other end 14b of this cable is attached to the top of the barrel 9 located in that 8. Similarly, a second cable 16 is attached by one of its ends 16a to the upper end of the barrel 8, then it passes around a pulley 17 associated with the barrel 9, its other end 16b being fixed to the upper end of the last barrel 10.

According to the invention, each barrel has in cross section the shape of a hexagon, so that there are three cables 14 and three cables 16 located opposite three non-adjacent faces and angularly distributed so regular with respect to the geometric axis of the barrels.

The other three faces of the latter are intended for their angular guidance. For this purpose, the partitions of the drums which are not arranged opposite the pulleys 15 and 17, that is to say those which are placed between the three aforementioned faces carry on their outer walls a guide rail 18. These rails are respectively carried by the drums 8, 9 and 10 (fig. 2). The internal walls of the corresponding partitions of the drums 7, 8 and 9 carry two superimposed rows of rollers 19 which roll on the rails 18.

3 the position of the two rows of rollers 19 of each barrel 7 to 9, as well as that of the pulleys 15 and 17 associated respectively with the barrels 9 and 8. It consists in that the two rows of rollers are practically at the free end of each drums 7, 8 and 9. The pulleys 15 and 17 are advantageously located in the lower part of drums 8 and 9.

In the embodiment shown, the deployment of the drums is carried out by gravity. Main cables 20 leave from a winch 4a of the carriage 4 to cooperate with pulleys 21 mounted at the top of the barrel 10, in order to control the speed of movement synchronized by gravity of said barrels. On the contrary, during the contraction of the mast, the main cables 20 are wound in the known manner so as to reassemble the barrel 10 which, via the cables 16 and 14, ensures the synchronized movement of the barrels upwards. We will not return to this way of proceeding, which is well known in practice.

2 and 4 all the drums are produced by means of several tubular lattice partitions, of longitudinal coupling boxes 22 forming the assembly elements of the transverse and oblique tubes 23 at each of the angles of the drums. It is observed that each box 22 is produced by means of two tubes of rectangular or similar section 23a, 23b oriented obliquely and joined by means of two sheets, one internal 23c and the other external 23d.

3.So that the lattice frameworks do not appear, the outer faces of the drums can be coated with solid panels illustrated more particularly in FIG. 3.

A telescopic mast for an overhead crane has thus been produced which has a structure capable of absorbing the forces due to the rotation of the platform by means of a guide on three rails fixed to the faces of a tubular lattice frame allowing significant weight gain, said guide also ensuring the resumption of bending forces when the nacelle 11 is mounted cantilevered.
