Description

The invention relates to a program-controlled washing machine according to the preamble of patent claim 1.

Washing machines of this type are generally known. In such washing machines, in order to reduce the wash liquor still contained in the wash items after each wash cycle and thus to increase the efficiency of this wash cycle, the wash items are spun at the end of each wash cycle. The laundry drum containing the laundry is operated during the spin cycle at a high rotational speed, which is approximately in the order of magnitude of 800 to 1200 rpm. During the spin cycle, the mixture of water and detergent, which is expelled from the laundry or spun material and passes through the perforated laundry drum jacket, often develops foam in the lower part of the tub after a spin cycle of a few seconds, which reduces the function the emptying pump is considerably impeded and the pumping process is even temporarily interrupted.

From FR-A-15 01 393 a washing machine with a heated tub and a device for preventing overflowing is known, in which an electrode triggering a switch contact is attached in the tub somewhat above the highest possible washing water level. If excessive foaming occurs in the tub during the washing process, the foam in the tub inevitably rises and acts on the electrode attached there. With the foam applied to the electrode the switching contact closes the circuit to a device which then switches off the tub heater. In this washing machine, this device has the task of preventing the suds container from foaming during the heating process of the washing liquor by interrupting the suds heating process.

In contrast, the invention has for its object to design a program-controlled washing machine of the type mentioned in such a way that at the earliest possible time after completion of the washing process with the maximum possible highest drum speed, the laundry without the risk of further pumping out of the detergent foam formation in the tub can be thrown.

The solution to this problem according to the invention is that the output signals of the measuring device are an indication of foam formation during the spin cycle and that these output signals represent control variables for the drive motor of the laundry drum and thus for the control of the spin speed.

With the invention it is achieved that the laundry drum is only run up to a higher spin speed when there is practically no appreciable foam and that an automatic speed adjustment for the laundry drum is carried out in the event of undesirable foam development. This has the advantage that the centrifugal run-up takes place without so-called water splashing in the laundry drum, which results in a considerable reduction in noise. By detecting or querying the respective foam limit in the tub, a purely function-dependent pumping out of the liquor is possible, as a result of which an optimal dewatering and thus an excellent washing effect of the laundry is achieved. As a result of the improved pumping performance and good dewatering of the items to be washed, it is possible to ramp up extremely quickly to the maximum spin speed of, for example, 850 rpm.

Further advantageous design variants of the measuring device for foam detection and further expedient operating steps to prevent foam formation or breakdown of foam formed in the tub are specified in the subclaims.

The invention is described in more detail below on the basis of an exemplary embodiment illustrated in the drawing.

With 1 the laundry drum of a washing machine, not shown, is referred to, which is rotatably housed in a tub 2 (washing tub). The laundry drum 1 is provided in the usual manner on its entire outer surface with perforations for the passage of water or washing and rinsing liquor and can be driven by a motor either in the washing cycle or in the spin cycle. This laundry drum can therefore also perform the spin cycle of the laundry, which usually ends a washing program or rinsing program. From the bottom of the tub 2 there is a drain line 3 with an intermediate drain pump 4. After the drain pump 4, the drain line 3 merges into a drain line 3 '. During the entire washing and also rinsing process, the perforated laundry drum 1 containing the laundry is partially immersed in the wash liquor (wash liquor, rinsing water) present in the tub. The drive motor 5 and thus the drive 6 for the laundry drum 1 are controlled via an electrical regulating and control unit 7. The drain line 3 goes between the drain pump 4 and the tub 2 from a measuring pipeline 8, which contains a measuring device 9 for the liquor level in the tub 2 which responds to the water pressure in the laundry drum 1 or the tub 2. An analog or pneumatic pressure sensor advantageously serves as the measuring device 9, which is connected in parallel to the liquor or lye level in the laundry drum 1 or the lye container 2. It would also be conceivable to use a pressure-independent device as the measuring device for detecting the formation of foam. The regulating and control unit 7 is preceded by a level comparator 10 and a control element 11 influencing the current for the drive motor 5 is connected downstream. The level comparator 10, which is connected to the measuring device 9, receives its data from the measuring device 9, the output signals (level signals) of which are an indication of the foam formation or the foam development in the tub 2 during the spinning process. These output signals represent a controlled variable for the drive motor 5 of the laundry drum 1 and thus for the regulation or influencing of the spin speed for the laundry drum 1. The electrical control unit 7 for the drive motor 5 can be assigned further control elements through which the circuit of the Drive motor of a mechanically controlled program switching mechanism and / or the circuit of a clutch magnet for the program crossing distances of the program switching mechanism can additionally be interrupted or closed.

With the measuring device 9 and the regulating and control unit 7 described, the aim is to ensure that the laundry as soon as possible after the end of the washing process with the maximum possible highest drum speed, regardless of the respective type and amount of laundry as well as the type and amount of detergent can be dewatered without swirling existing wash liquor from the last wash cycle. This prevents excessive foam from forming in the laundry drum. This has the further advantage that the residual liquor can now be pumped out completely and a good rinsing effect can be achieved with reduced water consumption.

The operation of the washing machine described with a so-called foam brake according to the flow chart in Fig. 2 is now as follows:

In order to prevent excessive foam from forming in the laundry drum or in the tub 2 after the beginning or after the spinning process has started, the initially low initial spin speed for the laundry drum after a gentle start in small steps, e.g. B. 50 rpm, only increased if no increase in the water pressure in the tub 2 is measured or registered via the analog pressure sensor 9 connected in parallel with the liquor or liquor level and thus consequently no further increase or there is an increase in foam formation, d. that is, an existing certain low foam limit in the laundry drum or the tub for a certain period of z. B. is equal to or falls below a second. However, if the foam limit in the laundry drum or in the tub is not undershot for a long time, the speed of the laundry drum drive motor 5 via the described regulating and control unit 7 in connection with the control element 11 in small steps, e.g. B. 50 U / min, until the foam limit has returned to a certain low level and remains below. However, if a certain critical foam limit is not exceeded at a drum speed of around 100 rpm or when the centrifugal setpoint is activated, the spinning process is stopped immediately and a rinsing process repeated or interposed. The analog pressure sensor 9 used in the washing machine described makes it possible for all washing levels to be detected therewith; H. any level between 35 mm water column (foam level limit) and 300 mm water column (safety level limit) can be controlled.

The spin cycle is also interrupted and the amount of rinsing water in the subsequent rinse cycle is increased if the foam limit is no longer undershot at a predetermined or specified washing drum speed. Furthermore, the spinning process is stopped as well the duration of the rinse cycle of the subsequent rinse cycle is extended and / or the reversing process (movement mechanism for shifting the items to be washed) increases during the subsequent rinse cycle if the foam limits are no longer undershot at a predetermined wash drum speed.

Another process step is that the drum speed is reduced until the drum comes to a standstill when the foam is present and then accelerated again to at least 100 rpm for a predetermined period of time. This washing drum speed reduction and acceleration is expediently repeated several times, although the number of these repetitions is limited depending on the type of laundry or choice of washing program. The predetermined laundry drum speed reduction steps and / or laundry drum speed acceleration steps can, depending on the type of laundry, program selection and / or number of spin cycle value additions, be appropriately multiplied by a corresponding factor. The laundry drum speed reduction and / or acceleration can be increased degressively or progressively. The program-specific spin duration in the individual processes shown is only started when a predetermined or specified washing drum minimum speed and / or minimum startup period has been exceeded.
