Abstract

1. A chair with coupled backrest-seat adjustment subject to spring action, the seat (2) and backrest (3) thereof being attached to a support (4), the support (4) possessing a support arm (6) which is connected to a vertical tube (5) and has the seat (2) mounted thereto so as to be capable of swivelling up and down, as well as a back support (8) firmly connected to the backrest (3) and support arm (6) by way of a sliding-pivot bearing (7), the sliding-pivot bearing (7) on the one hand having a guide slot (9) or like guide members and on the other hand a guide element (10) engaging therein, characterized in that the slidable guide element (10) is connected to a first detent member (11) and the support arm is connected to a second detent member (12) of a click-stop device and that arresting projections (13) and arresting recesses (14) of the detent members are oriented transversely to the direction of shift and have stop faces (15) acting in the direction of shift, said arresting projections and arresting recesses being devised for the stop faces (15) to be clamped with static friction locking the click-stop device when the seat (2) is unweighted or weighted only at the front and the backrest (3) is at the same time unweighted.
