- a particularly suitable casting compound is silicone rubber.
- the vibrating system 1 is excited by an electronic circuit 3 to produce ultrasonic vibrations in the MHz range and atomizes the medicament 5 applied to the vibrating system 1 through the cartridge 4.
- the electronic circuit is supplied with electrical energy via the rechargeable battery pack 6.
- the device can be recharged with the integrated rechargeable battery by additionally routing the contacts 7 outwards in parallel.
- the battery pack is removable, replaceable and rechargeable even without the device by means of a sliding device 8.
- the dosing cartridge 4 filled with pharmaceutical liquid is movably mounted in the upper housing part 9.
- the cartridge moves to the vibrator.
- a magnet 11 attached to the cartridge closes a switch 12 attached to the lower part 13 of the device.
- the magnetic switch 11, 12 makes it possible to - close the lower housing part 13 in a liquid-tight manner to the upper housing part 9.
- the electronics are activated and the ultrasound atomizer is supplied with energy after an electronically specified period of time.
- the time span is dimensioned such that there is sufficient time between actuation of the magnetic switch and the start of atomization.
- the cartridge After closing the magnetic switch, the cartridge is moved forward, i.e. in the direction of the oscillation system, finally moves and strikes the thickened part of the body against a wall 14. Since the mechanical resistance of the plastic spring 15 is lower than the spring 21 integrated in the cartridge, the pressure on the cartridge by the operator continues to exert pressure on it only now slightly compressed and a precisely dosed amount of drug 5 is dispensed. By relieving the pressure on the cartridge, it moves back to its starting position. Abstract
Description
The invention relates to an ultrasonic pocket atomizer, in particular for atomizing medicinal products for inhalation purposes, with a removable and rechargeable battery pack, with a piezoelectric vibrating system, with an electronic circuit, with a power supply to the piezoelectric vibrating system, with a storage container, with metering option and with a feed for the liquid to be atomized to the vibration system and with a housing.
In the case of diseases of the lungs and bronchial area, it is often desirable to inhale the drugs or their active ingredients. There are spray and spray guns and mechanical hand-held nebulizers on the market with which it is possible to atomize the drug as an aerosol. These devices do not produce a particularly fine distribution of the aerosol and no homogeneous mixtures of aerosol and air. Mechanical hand-held nebulizers also require a lot of force to actuate the pump ball.
Known aerosol spray cans have the disadvantage of generating a cold stimulus when applied. The side effects of the propellant gases are also harmful. Finally, the very high speed of the aerosol leads to difficulties in the coordination between the actuation of the spray can and the inhalation by the patient. This is especially true when used to treat the airways and lungs. In general, the high speeds of the drug particles, as they are common to all devices that work with propellant gases, mean that a certain proportion of the aerosol does not get into the lungs, but instead, for example, hangs in the esophagus or previously on the walls of the oral cavity remains.
Ultrasonic atomizing devices are also suitable for atomizing liquids. From DE-PS 2 032 433 a device with a piezoelectric vibration system is known, with which sufficiently large vibration amplitudes can be achieved. With such atomizing devices, it is possible to produce very fine droplets with a relatively homogeneous distributor of the droplet size. An ultrasonic atomizer device, in the version as a hand-held device, with such a piezoelectric oscillation system with an excitation electronics, is known from DE-PS 2 239 950. But here, too, the aerosol is accelerated by an artificially generated air flow. In addition, this device only allows moderate distribution of the aerosol in the air flow and no metering of the same.
From DE-AS 2 537 765 a medical inhalation device for the treatment of diseases of the respiratory tract is known. In this device, low-voltage excitation electronics and a piezoelectric vibration system are arranged in a liquid-tight protective housing. The sound transmitter is attached to the sound transmitter by means of a retaining ring in the area of a vibration node line. This device is switched on via a position-dependent switch and can therefore only be operated in this position. When this inhalation device is operated, the heavier aerosol particles fall down out of the aerosol due to gravity and into the interior of the housing, where they are collected and returned. For this purpose, the housing is also designed as a liquid container. It is a peculiarity of this inhalation device that only a small percentage of the aerosol particles remaining in the suspension get into the bronchi and lungs. Sterile storage of the drug is not possible here.
Finally, French patent specification 2,444,504 discloses an ultrasonic nebulizing device suitable for medical use, in which no amount of liquid is sprayed onto a nebulizer element via a baffle by means of a pushbutton from a closed, depressible medicament container. In this device, pressing the pushbutton also turns on the excitation electronics. The device contains a replaceable battery set for supplying the excitation electronics. It is a peculiarity of this device that only a small percentage of the aerosol gets into the lungs. Also, the internal wiring of the device becomes contaminated with medication over time. Disinfection of all surfaces that come into contact with the drug is not possible with this device.
However, all of these currently known ultrasound devices are not yet sufficient for the treatment of the respiratory tract. Improvements are particularly desirable with regard to the droplet size spectrum and the exact dosage of medication, but also with regard to readiness for use and handling.
The invention is therefore to give up ', seeks to provide a portable in the pocket Ultrascnallzerstäubungsgerät which a predominantly suspendable and respirable Aeroso! generated and therefore also suitable for application before: drugs in the trachiobronchial space and in the lungs. The application should be done without propellant gas and there should be no cold stimulus. For medical use, the readiness for use of the ultrasonic pocket atomizer should also be easy to check and, if necessary, quickly recoverable. All internal surfaces that come into contact with the medication should also be accessible for cleaning or disinfection.
The object is solved by the features of
The fact that the housing is divided into a lower housing part and an upper housing part and the piezoelectric vibrating system together with the rechargeable battery pack and the electronic circuit are installed in the lower housing part in a liquid-tight manner, the piezoelectric vibrating system looking out of the lower housing part with an atomizing plate ensures that no medication is present in the lower housing part the lower part containing the electronics long and that conversely from here no contamination of the surfaces of the upper housing part coming into contact with the medicament is possible. Because the upper part of the housing contains a cartridge that is filled with the liquid to be atomized and is movably mounted, as well as a magnet that can be moved by the cartridge and actuates a switch in the lower part of the housing, it is possible to switch the electronics in the lower part of the housing on and off without creating a bridge the germs or medication can get from the upper part of the housing into the lower part of the housing and vice versa. As a result of the design of the electronic circuit for an operating frequency of 1 to 5 MHz, it is ensured that the maximum droplet size that is generated is in the range of less than 20 μm. This idea is based on the knowledge that aerosol droplets that are larger than 20 µm are predominantly caught by the walls of the throat and mouth and only such small droplets with a good efficiency reach the bronchial space and the lungs through the respiratory tract . The invention is based on the further finding that the operating frequency is to a very large extent responsible for the average droplet size, because when liquid is ejected, the subsequent retraction phase leads to a constriction and droplet formation at the rear and the higher the rate begins after the start of the spinning process Frequency is.
This ultrasonic pocket atomizer enables a low-noise application of substances without the use of a propellant gas and therefore also without cold stimulus. The dosage of the substance to be atomized can be done with an accuracy of over 95%, which is very important especially with medicines. 50% of the droplets of the aerosol generated have a diameter of less than 20 wm, which is ideal for transporting the active ingredients into the bronchial space and into the lungs. The device according to the invention can be operated regardless of location, is very handy, can easily be accommodated in a pocket or in clothing. All surfaces that come into contact with the medication can be disinfected and hermetically separated from the lower part of the housing that contains the electronics. Filling with the agent to be atomized is done by simply changing cartridges. The battery pack integrated in the lower part of the device is removable and rechargeable. Battery operation is possible and easy.
The invention is described in more detail below with reference to FIGS. 1 and 2, FIG. 2 being a longitudinal section of FIG. 1.
An ultrasonic pocket atomizer according to the invention consists of a
The vibrating
The dosing cartridge 4 filled with pharmaceutical liquid is movably mounted in the
When the switch is closed, the electronics are activated and the ultrasound atomizer is supplied with energy after an electronically specified period of time.
The time span is dimensioned such that there is sufficient time between actuation of the magnetic switch and the start of atomization. After closing the magnetic switch, the cartridge is moved forward, i.e. in the direction of the oscillation system, finally moves and strikes the thickened part of the body against a
The aerosol can be stored in the intake manifold 17 and is inhaled by the user.
The
With the special contour of the
For hygienic reasons, the intake port should be closed again after the inhalation process. For closing the intake manifold, a
Since the
It is important for the user to know the amount of medication that is still in the cartridge. For this purpose, a
Since the energy supply in the rechargeable batteries required for atomization does not match the number of drug doses in the cartridge, an
If this diode no longer lights up when the device is operated, the user is informed that the battery pack must be recharged soon. In any case, the energy content of the battery is still so high that a few more inhalation processes are possible. This is necessary because the battery may not be able to be recharged immediately and there is still a need for inhalation.
The outer contours of the
Since the integrated contacts are arranged asymmetrically with respect to the underside of the device, a specific position can even be specified in the storage container.
The
