Abstract

The folding furniture, having a guide groove in each rear leg for the purpose of collapsing the furniture, is provided in the region of the guide groove with catch elements which allow the seat to be set at different inclinations relative to the horizontal. According to a first embodiment, several catch indentations are provided in each case at one end of the guide groove. In a second embodiment, catch grooves are formed at one end of the guide groove which extend at an obtuse angle from said guide groove largely parallel to one another. An adjusting device for folding furniture has a catch device which is formed projecting downwards in the region of one armrest and interacts with an element which projects laterally in the region of a connection portion between a front and a rear leg of the folding furniture. According to a preferred embodiment, the catch device is provided in the form of a plate which contains catch indentations extending from a guide slot so that the element provided in the form of a pin can be engaged in different catch indentations. <IMAGE>

In der DE-A-3 401 552 ist ein Klappmöbel beschrieben, bei dem im Bereich von Verbindungsstücken zwischen Rückenlehne und Sitz seitlich nach außen stehende Führungselemente ausgebildet sind, die jeweils in eine Führung eingreifen.DE-A-3 401 552 describes a folding piece of furniture in which guiding elements are formed on the side in the region of connecting pieces between the backrest and the seat, each of which engages in a guide.

In der US-A-3 709 554 ist ein Klappsessel mit einer in den Hinterbeinen angeordneten Führung zur Einstellung der Sitzneigung beschrieben.US-A-3 709 554 describes a folding armchair with a guide arranged in the rear legs for adjusting the seat angle.

Die US-A-2 072 075 zeigt ein Klappmöbel mit einer an den Armlehnen angeordneten Verstellvorrichtung.US-A-2 072 075 shows a folding piece of furniture with an adjusting device arranged on the armrests.

The invention has for its object to improve a folding furniture of the type mentioned so that an independent or at least largely independent adjustment of the seat inclination is possible.

This object is achieved by the features specified in the characterizing part of patent claim 1.

Further designs of the folding furniture result from the subclaims.

With the folding furniture, the seat inclination can be changed without adjusting the backrest. As a result, the folding furniture can be used not only as a deck chair or recliner, but also as a normal chair with a horizontal seat, that is to say also as a dining chair or the like.

A folding piece of furniture according to the invention preferably consists of wood, but can also be formed from other materials, such as plastic or metal.

According to a preferred embodiment, an adjustment device is provided which is integrated into the armrests and which enables an inclination adjustment of the backrest and is designed in such a way that the folding furniture can be folded into a compact arrangement requiring little space for the purpose of transport or storage.

The adjustment device provided in a preferred embodiment of the folding furniture is extremely easy to assemble, is practically wear-free and does not impair the range of the inclination adjustment of the backrest.

Bolzen 12 oder im Bereich der Verbindungsstücke 9.1 shows the side view of a folding piece of furniture, consisting of a backrest 1, a seat 2, armrests 3, rear legs 4 and front legs 5. To fold the folding piece of furniture, there are guides 6 on the rear legs 4 along the respective rear leg and on its inwardly facing surface Provided, which are indicated by dashed lines in Fig. 1 and are milled into the inner surface of the rear legs 4 in a folding piece of furniture made of wood in the form of a groove. In the case of folding furniture made of wood, the seat has 2 side rails 7 and the backrest 1 side rails 8. In the embodiment shown, the side rails 8 are connected to the side rails 7 via connecting pieces 9. The connectors 9 are rotatably mounted on the side rails 8 by pins, bolts or the like. These pins or bolts are designated 11. Accordingly, the connecting pieces 9 are rotatably supported with respect to the side rails 7 with pins and bolts. In addition, the armrest is usually pivoted on the side rail 8 and rotatably supports the upper ends of the front and rear legs 4, 5. Each front leg 5 is rotatably attached to the associated side rail 7. As can be seen from FIG. 1, the, for example, pin-shaped guide elements 11 engage in the guide 6 formed by a guide groove on the rear leg 4, the guide elements 11 also being able to be provided elsewhere on the folding furniture, for example the location of the pins or bolts 12 or in the area of the connecting pieces 9.

The guide 6 described in connection with FIG. 1 has the shape of a groove in the embodiment shown in FIG. 2, which is milled or worked out on the rear leg 4 into the inner surface of the rear leg and extends over a predetermined length of the rear leg. At the upper En de this guide groove 4, two locking grooves 15, 16 are provided, which have substantially the same shape and depth as the guide groove 6 and go directly into the guide groove 6. The locking grooves 15, 16 run essentially parallel to one another and are spaced from one another such that a noticeable adjustment of the inclination of the seat 2 can be achieved. Instead of two locking grooves 15, 16, a larger number of such locking grooves can also be provided, each opening into the guide groove 6, so that the guide elements 11 during the adjustment of the folding furniture from the guide groove 6 into the respectively desired pair of locking grooves, e.g. 15 or 16, can be snapped into place. In the embodiment shown in FIG. 2, the locking grooves 15 and 16 are each provided at an obtuse angle to the guide groove 6. This alignment of the locking grooves with respect to the guide groove 6 has the advantage that the guide elements 11 do not run back out of the respective locking groove even when slight forces are applied to the front edge of the seat 2 into the guide groove 6 and can thus result in unintentional adjustment of the folding furniture. However, it may also be sufficient if the locking grooves 15, 16 etc. run out of the guide groove 6 in the horizontal direction. It can be further advantageous if the guide groove 6 is slightly inclined with respect to the axis of the rear legs, as shown in FIG. 2.

The guide with locking grooves explained in connection with FIG. 2 can be used both in a folding piece of furniture, the Backrest 1 is adjustable, the adjustment mechanism being integrated in the armrest 3 shown in FIG. 2 or also in the case of a folding piece of furniture, the backrest 1 of which is not adjustable in accordance with FIG. 1.

Fig. 3 shows a further modified embodiment with respect to the adjustment mechanism for the seat inclination. Here too, the guide 6 is preferably formed by a guide groove running along the inner surface of the rear legs 4 and, in contrast to the embodiment according to FIG. 2, contains depressions or depressions or bores provided along the guide groove, which are denoted by 18, 19, 20. In order to achieve a height adjustment, laterally adjustable pins 21 must be provided in this embodiment, preferably in the form of threaded screws, which are adjustable laterally with respect to a threaded sleeve 22. The sleeve 22, which has an internal thread corresponding to the setscrew 21, is inserted into the side member 6, further passes through the respective connecting pieces 9 and preferably also passes through a spacer element or a spacer ring 24, which is usually found between the backrest or seat and the folding furniture Legs is arranged. To actuate the threaded pin 21, this is provided at its end facing the inside of the chair with a ball 25 or another actuating element and can thus be rotated relative to the threaded sleeve 22 firmly inserted into the side rail 6 into the guide groove 6 or out of the guide groove 6.

Fig. 4 shows three depressions or recesses 18 to 20 arranged one above the other along the guide groove 6, which means that in this embodiment the seat can assume three different inclinations. The depressions or recesses 18 to 20 preferably have a circular profile which is adapted to the outer diameter of the pin 21. To adjust the In this embodiment, the inclination of the seat 1, the pin 21 is to be rotated to the left by an amount in FIG. 4, so that it has just been moved out of the relevant recess, for example 18, but still remains within the guide groove 6 and after adjusting the inclination of the Seat can be screwed back into the corresponding other recess.

Wie aus Fig. 3 hervorgeht, ist die Führungsnut im wesentlichen mittig an der Innenfläche des hinteren Beines 4 entlang verlaufend vorgesehen, d.h. in Höhe der Achse des Hinterbeins 4.As is apparent from Fig. 3, the guide groove is provided substantially centrally along the inner surface of the rear leg 4, i.e. at the level of the axis of the hind leg 4.

It should be mentioned that, with a corresponding modification of the connecting pieces 9, the pin 21 can also be provided in the area of the connecting piece 9, with an appropriately strong connecting piece 9 providing an internal thread corresponding to the pin 21 in the connecting piece 9, which is preferably made of metal, and then the use of a threaded sleeve 22, as described in connection with FIG. 4, is unnecessary. Furthermore, the pin 21 with the associated threaded sleeve can also be in the area of the spar 7, i.e. Instead of the pins 12 and thus be provided in the area of the seat 2 with a corresponding adjustment of the pivot points of the front and rear legs relative to the seat and armrests.

According to a further modification of the invention, a pin or bolt is provided instead of the threaded pin 21, which is preferably pressed by spring preload in the direction of the guide groove 6 and thus pulled out to adjust the inclination of the seat against the spring preload towards the center of the chair and for the purpose of re-adjusting the seat inclination Locking in an associated locking recess must be released.

From the above description it can be seen that the folding furniture with respect to the right front and rear legs on the one hand and the left front and rear legs on the other hand and thus also symmetrical with respect to the adjustment device described.

The described device for adjusting the seat inclination can preferably be used in the same way with folding furniture made of wood, but in the same way also with folding furniture made of plastic and / or metal.

An adjusting device for folding furniture is described below, which makes it possible to fold the folding furniture into a very compact form, e.g. for the purpose of storage, collapse.

Dadurch wird die Relativbewegung des Verbindungsstücks 105 bzw. des unteren Endes der Holme 103 gegenüber dem Hinterbein 113 beim Auf- und Zusammenklappen des Klappmöbels gegenüber den festen Drehpunkten bei 108, 112 erreicht.5 shows a side view of a folding piece of furniture which has a backrest 101 and a seat 102. The backrest 101 has side rails 103 and the seat has a side rail 104. The backrest 101 and the seat 102 are connected to one another at their side rails 103, 104 via a connecting piece 105, preferably made of metal, which in a manner known per se by means of pins or bolts 106, 107 and at the ends of the side rails 103, 104 facing each other is attached. For this purpose, a slot is preferably milled into the ends of the two side rails 103, 104 facing each other, in which the plate-shaped connecting piece 105 engages and is rotatably mounted with respect to the side rails 103, 104 by means of the pins or bolts 106, 107. Each side rail is rotatably connected to a front leg 110 via a screw 108. In the same way, an armrest 111 is rotatably connected at one end to the associated side rail 103 via a screw 112 or the like. Each front leg 110 is preferably connected to the associated rear leg 113 in the same manner as described in relation to the side rails 103, 104, namely by means of a preferably plate-shaped one Connector 114. According to the illustrated embodiment, the upper ends of front leg 110 and rear leg 113 are slotted to receive connector 114, connector 114 being rotatably inserted relative to the upper ends of front leg 110 and rear leg 113 by bolts or the like in the manner to be described is. The bolts 107 protrude laterally outwards from the side rail 103 and engage in the guide groove 115, which is formed along the inner surface of the rear leg 113 over a certain length which enables the folding furniture to be folded up. This means that the guide groove 115 is provided in the inward facing surface of each rear leg 113. As a result, the relative movement of the connecting piece 105 or the lower end of the spars 103 with respect to the rear leg 113 is achieved when the folding furniture is opened and closed with respect to the fixed pivot points at 108, 112.

In the embodiment according to FIGS. 5 and 6, the armrest 111 belonging to the adjusting device consists of a support surface 111a, on which the arm can be placed in a known manner. An approximately vertically downwardly projecting part 116 is attached to the support surface 111a, which is preferably completely firmly connected to the support surface 111a at its upper edge and, according to FIG. 5, for fastening the armrest 111 to the associated side rail 103 by means of the screw 112 or the like serves. 5, it is preferred that the part 116 serves as a fastening element for a plate 117 with locking recesses. This plate 117, which can also be referred to as a locking plate, has a slightly curved guide slot 118, which runs essentially in the direction of the armrest 111 or the support surface 111a, and residual recesses 119 going upward from the guide slot 118. The plate 117 is substantially angular from the outside Armrest 111 attached by means of fastening elements 121, 122. In the embodiment shown, as will be described in connection with FIG. 9, these fastening elements are fixedly attached to the plate 117 as pins on the side of the guide slot 118 and are used to fasten the plate 117 in a corresponding manner Openings or bores pressed in, which are provided in part 116 at a corresponding distance from one another. Fig. 5a shows a sectional front view of the right armrest of the folding furniture shown in Fig. 5.

To engage the plate 117, a pin 123 is provided which carries at its end facing the part 116 a head 123a (FIG. 7) which, in the assembled state of the adjusting device according to FIGS. 5 and 6, between the plate 117 and the part 116 is movably guided. For this purpose, the plate 117 is fixed to the part 116 while maintaining a distance corresponding to the thickness of the head 123a, for example by means of spacer elements (not shown), which can be provided in the area of the fastening elements 121, 122 on the surface of the plate 117 facing the part 116 . The end of the pin 123 facing away from the head 123a is located in the upper end of the rear leg 113. According to a preferred embodiment, it is provided that the upper end of the rear leg 113 carries a bearing sleeve 125 which, on the one hand, fixes the connecting piece 114 in a rotationally fixed manner relative to the rear leg 113 serves and on the other hand is intended to support the headless end of the pin 123. The other end of the connector 114 is rotatable at the upper end of the front leg 110 by means of a bolt or the like stored. To adjust the inclination of the backrest 101, the pin 123 must be adjusted along the guide slot 118 by lifting the armrest 111 and engaged in the latching recess which corresponds to the desired inclination of the backrest 101.

If the folding furniture is folded from the use position shown in FIG. 5 into the storage configuration shown in FIG. 6, it may be expedient in one embodiment of the folding furniture to obtain an extremely compact storage form, the pin 123 in the foremost and in FIG. 5 with 119a to shift designated locking recess or in another predetermined locking recess. To ensure this displacement of the pin 123, a stop element 127 is provided on the rear leg 113, which can have the shape of a pin and is provided on the rear-facing edge of the rear leg 113 at a distance from the pivot point defined by the pin 123, which is approximately the Length of the guide slot 118 corresponds. During the folding of the folding piece of furniture, the stop element 127 comes into contact with the lower surface of the support surface 111a and thereby causes the pin 123 to pivot out of one of the latching recesses 119, as a result of which the pin 123 enters the guide slot 118 during the further folding and, at the same time, the stop 127 is shifted into a recess 128 assigned to it, which is provided in the lower surface of the armrest 111. As a result, the stop element 127, which is displaced into the recess 128 in the folded state, prevents the armrest 111 and / or the legs 104, 105 from remaining in a position which is not completely parallel. Fig. 6 shows that the stop element 127 in the form of a pin comes to rest in the recess 128 in the fully collapsed state of the folding furniture, the pin 123 being able to engage in the design-determined predetermined recess 119a. The predetermined latching recess 119a corresponds to the embodiment shown in Fig. 6 of a different recess than that described in connection with Fig. 5.

Gleiche Teile gegenüber Fig. 5 und 6 sind in Fig. 7 folgende mit gleichen Bezugszeichen versehen.FIG. 7 shows a folding piece of furniture modified compared to FIGS. 5 and 6, in which the armrest carries two parts 116, 130 which run vertically downwards. The two parts 116, 130 are attached to the support surface 111a. Different from the embodiment according to FIGS. 5 and 6 is that part 130 is additionally provided for part 116. As can be seen, the parts 116, 130 can also form an integral element with respect to the support surface 111a, even if the part 116 on the one hand and the parts 116, 130 on the other hand in connection with FIGS. 5, 6 and 7 are shown as parts to be additionally fastened with respect to the support surface 11a are. The distance that the part 130 maintains from the part 116 is slightly greater than the depth of the legs, in particular the front and rear legs, as can be seen in FIG. 7. The arrangement of the plate 117, the pin 123 with its head 123a is the same as that described in connection with FIGS. 5 and 6. The same parts as in FIGS. 5 and 6 are provided with the same reference numerals in FIG. 7.

The recess or guide defined by the two parts 116, 130 is designated by 131 in FIG. 7 and is preferably closed at the front end of the armrest in FIG. 8, as illustrated by reference number 132. On the other hand, on the side facing the backrest 101, the cutout 131 is not closed in order to enable the legs 110 and 113 to be inserted into this cutout 131 for the purpose of collapsing into the folded position shown in FIG. 6. 8, during the Collapsing the rear leg 113 moves in the direction of an arrow A, whereby the stop element 127 in its dash-dotted position comes into contact with the lower surface of the armrest 111 and thereby displaces the pin 123 out of its position engaging in a locking recess 119 into the guide slot 118 and thereby one Displacement of the pin 123 in the direction of an arrow B along the guide slot 118 in the predetermined locking recess 119 causes, so that the folding furniture can take the compact form shown in FIG. 6.

The plate 117 is preferably attached to the part 116 by means of pins or pins 121, 122 protruding from it at both ends thereof. In the embodiment according to FIG. 5, the plate 117 can be fastened by means of pins or pins 121, 122 by means of screws; however, pins or pins 121, 122 are preferably used, which are inserted into recesses or bores of part 116, the holes or recesses 133 having the same or only slightly larger diameters than the associated pins 121, 122, so that a safe one , but still releasable attachment of the plate 117 to the part 116 is made possible. The holes or depressions in the part 116 assigned to the pins 121, 122 are drilled into the part 116 from the outer surface or from the recess 131. 7 and 9 show in particular, the pin 123 with its head 123a is displaceable within the recess 131, being mounted in the bearing sleeve 125 such that its head 123a can come into contact with part 116, while the free end of the Pin 123 maintains a slight distance from part 130. The pin 123 with its head 123a has a length which is slightly less than the width of the recess defined between the parts 116, 130. This allows the parts 116, 130 to perform a guiding function with respect to the pin 123 when it is displaced together with the upper end of the rear leg 113 along the guide slot 118 of the plate 117.

In the embodiments shown in connection with FIGS. 5 to 8, it is preferred that the backrest 101 is guided along a guide or guide groove 115 by the pins or bolts 107 provided at its lower end and the pin 107 serves as a connecting part with the connecting piece 105 to connect the backrest 101 to the seat 102, which similarly carries a pin 106 on the rear part of the seat or the side rails 104. Furthermore, in both embodiments, the bearing sleeve 125 is preferably provided in the upper end of the rear leg 113, which not only serves to receive the pin 123, but at the same time interacts as a connecting part with the connecting piece 114, which has the upper end of a rear leg 113 with the upper end of the associated front leg 110 connects. The connecting piece 114 is rotatably mounted on the front leg 110 by means of a corresponding pin 120 relative to the relevant front leg 110.

The space or distance defined by the two parts 116, 130 is thus slightly larger than the clear width of the sections of the front and rear legs 110 and 113 accommodated at this distance. Since the pin 123 is approximately the distance between the two parts 116, 130 has a corresponding length, in the event of the occurrence of transverse forces, the free end of the pin 123 can come into contact with the part 130, thereby preventing the head 123a of the pin 123 from being removed from the plate 123 with the corresponding transverse forces transverse to the plate 117 Pulls out anchor.

For the purpose of assembling the adjusting device, the plate 117 is inserted into the associated bore or recess in the part 116 by means of the pin 121, after which the pin 123 is inserted into the guide slot 118 in such a way that its head 123a is between the plate 117 and the part 116 comes to lie.

At the same time, the pin 123 is inserted into the bearing sleeve 125, which is preferably provided in the upper end of the rear leg 101 or in the region of the connecting piece 114. During the described assembly of the pin 123, the part of the plate 117 carrying the pin 122 is pivoted downward out of the recess 131 and, after the pin 123 has been inserted, is moved upward into the position 131 shown in FIG. 9 until the pin 122 can be inserted into the recess or bore provided for it in the part 116, this bore being indicated by 133 in FIG. 9. Conversely, the connection between the upper end of the rear leg or the pin and the plate 117 can be released.

According to a further modification of the invention, the pin 123 can be provided with an internal thread. This is particularly expedient in the embodiment according to FIG. 5, in which the outer part 130 of the armrest is missing. A screw shown in dashed lines is screwed into the pin 123 from the outside of the upper end of the rear leg 113 and thus prevents the pin 123 from being displaced out of the bearing sleeve 125 as a result of the head of the fastening screw, the head of which must be selected to be larger than the inside diameter of the bearing sleeve ( Fig. 5a).

A detailed description of the connection between the upper ends of the rear leg 113 and the front leg 110, on the one hand, and the side rails 103, 104, on the other hand, is not necessary, since such connections are known. It should only be noted that for the connection of the parts mentioned, customary connecting pieces or connecting plates 105, 114 corresponding to the width of these parts are used, which are inserted laterally or in central slots at the ends of the legs and anchored by corresponding pins or bearing sleeves.

According to the invention is an adjustment of the backrest inclination and / or an adjustment of the inclination of the seat 104 is possible.

From the above description it can be seen that the embodiments according to FIGS. 7 and 8 have essentially the same structure as the embodiment according to FIGS. 5 and 6, but with the difference that the latching device is arranged within the recess 131, while in the embodiment according to 5 and 6 the locking device is provided exposed to the outside. In both embodiments, a solid part 132 can be provided on the front of the armrest 111, while the armrest has no closure on the side facing the backrest, as can be clearly seen from FIG. 6.

The above-described embodiments of a folding piece of furniture, with the exception of the plate 117, the pin 123 and the connecting pieces, are preferably made of wood. If the folding piece of furniture or parts of the folding piece of furniture are made of plastic, the armrest shown in FIGS. 7 and 8 can be designed such that cheeks striving downwards laterally on the support surface 111 form parts 116, 130 and between them the plate for receiving the plate 117 and the legs 108, 110 according to FIG. 7 define the necessary recess 131.

When using the adjustment of the inclination of the seat surface described in connection with FIGS. 1 to 4 in connection with the described adjustment device according to FIGS. 5 to 9, a piece of reclining furniture can be converted in such a way that the seat surface is practically horizontal and thus the chair with a raised backrest is suitable is to be used as seating furniture at dining tables.

In the above description, the adjustment mechanism provided on the right-hand side of a folding piece of furniture was explained in particular. Obviously there is an identical and symmetrical adjustment mechanism on the left side of the Provide folding furniture to enable the described adjustment of the backrest 101 and / or the seat 102.

In a preferred embodiment of the adjusting device, the stop element 127 is provided at a distance from the pin 123 which corresponds approximately to the length of the guide slot 118 of the plate 117. According to a further embodiment, a guide device 115 is provided on each rear leg 113 for mounting a guide member 107, which is arranged between the backrest 101 and the seat 102. The guide device can advantageously be provided as a guide groove 6 formed on the inside of each rear leg 113. In a further embodiment, the guide groove 6 is provided with at least two locking grooves 15, 16 at its upper end. The locking grooves 15, 16 can be provided at an obtuse angle with respect to the guide groove 6, and the guide groove 6 can also be inclined with respect to the axis of the rear leg 4 in question.
