Description

The invention relates to a carburetor for internal combustion engines according to the preamble of claim 1.

Such a carburetor is described in DE-A-25 34 685 and there has a device for switching the float chamber, which is dependent on the fuel supply pressure, for switching the float chamber from outside to inside ventilation, the inside ventilation being achieved through a channel connected to the intake duct of the carburetor.

In connection with the recent increase in the low-boiling fuel component, driving errors in hot idling and hot start operation that are caused by boiling fuel are frequently reported. As a remedy for this, it is known to provide two ducts which start from the float chamber and are connected to intake duct sections to achieve an air flow, between which there is a pressure difference during engine operation.

The device known from the cited publication is therefore not readily transferable to the carburetor equipped with a float chamber ventilated via two channels, since no means for controlling a plurality of channels are shown.

The object of the invention is therefore to equip a generic carburetor with a device which enables the combination of both measures.

This object is achieved with the features mentioned in the characterizing part of patent claim 1. advantageous developments are mentioned in the subclaims.

A faultless hot run and hot start operation with effective limitation of the evaporation emission has become possible by the invention, so that the environmental impact can be reduced.

An embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawing and is described below.

Es zeigt :

  • Fig. 1 einen Vergaser im Schnitt
  • Fig. 2 den Vergaser in einer Draufsicht
  • Fig. 3 einen Ausschnitt der Fig. 2
It shows :
  • Fig. 1 a carburetor in section
  • Fig. 2 shows the carburetor in a plan view
  • 3 shows a section of FIG. 2

Stromauf des Venturiabschnittes 4 mündet ein Kanal 8 in den dortigen Ansaugkanal-Abschnitt 9 ein und ein weiterer Kanal 10 in den Ansaugkanal-Abschnitt 7 der Filterkammer.1 shows a carburetor 1, the intake duct 2 for air of which has a throttle valve 3, a Venturi section 4 with a pre-atomizer 5 for the introduction of the fuel and an air valve 6. The intake duct 2 continues in a section 7 of a filter chamber of an air filter, not shown. The carburetor 1 has further systems which are not shown. Upstream of the venturi section 4, a channel 8 opens into the suction channel section 9 there and a further channel 10 into the suction channel section 7 of the filter chamber.

Fig. 2 shows an outbreak of the carburetor 1, from which the arrangement of a slide rod 11 in a housing bore 12 can be seen. The slide rod 11 is connected to a membrane 13 which separates a ventilated chamber 15 in a gas space 14 above the fuel level of a float chamber opposite a cover chamber 16, the cover chamber 16 being connected via a connecting line 17 to the fuel supply line 18 leading into the float chamber and with the pressure prevailing in this supply line 18 is applied.

When the internal combustion engine is started up, a delivery pressure is created in the fuel supply line 18, which moves the diaphragm 13 with the slide rod 11 from the first end position (engine switched off) shown in FIG. 3 against the force of a spring 19 into a second end position. In this second end position, two reductions in diameter 20, 21 of the slide rod 11 in the housing bore 12 form chambers 22, 23, into which the channels 8, 10 connected to the intake channel sections 7, 9 and two further channels 24 leading out of the gas space 14 of the float chamber , 25 open, so that on the one hand the duct 8 leaving the intake duct section 9 is connected to the duct 24 leaving the float chamber and on the other hand the duct 10 connected to section 7 of the intake duct 2 and the second duct 25 leaving the float chamber are connected, a channel 27 leading into the atmosphere or to an activated carbon trap 26 is then closed by the slide rod 11.

When the engine is switched off, the pressure drops in the fuel supply line 18, which generally has a return connection 28 to the fuel tank, so that the spring 19 moves the slide rod 11 into the first end position (FIG. 3). In this end position, the slide rod 11 closes the channels 8, 10 connected to the sections 7, 9 of the intake channel 2 and opens the channel 27 leading into the atmosphere or to the activated carbon trap 26, so that the gas space 14 of the float chamber via the channels 24 and the chamber 22 formed by reducing the diameter of the slide rod is connected to the channel 27 connected to the atmosphere and through this to the activated carbon trap 26.

As a result, the fuel vapors generated after the engine is switched off no longer get into the filter chamber and from there into the atmosphere, but into the activated carbon trap 26, where they are absorbed.

The activated carbon trap 26 has further connections for the regeneration of the activated carbon, which are not described, however, since there is no direct connection with the invention.

Alternatively, in the exemplary embodiment, the membrane 13 is to be replaced by an electromagnet excited during motor operation.
