- Such a device is known from DE-A-1 627 756, which has a stamp for pushing material of the first sheet through the perforation and for extrusion of pressed material behind the perforation, and a die with supporting parts for placing the second sheet and supporting it of the second sheet near the perforation and an anvil arranged between the support parts and having a head, the head spring-loaded protruding beyond the free ends of the support parts and being displaceable up to a stop when the anvil is pressed and extruded, the punch cross-section corresponding to the anvil cross-section geometrically similar, but smaller.
- the anvil is surrounded by a spherical shell-shaped recess in the supporting parts, so that the second sheet is supported only at a distance from the perforation; this recess serves to make room for a rivet head that arises during extrusion.
- Such a device is limited to use with certain sheet thicknesses and materials in which the second sheet does not tend to be deformed when pressed into the recess.

- the support parts can be deflected resiliently by the material of the first sheet metal which acts on them during extrusion. This allows the second sheet to be supported directly on the edge of the perforation.
