Definitions

  • the invention relates generally to pliers with two arms crossing in a joint, and in particular to those pliers in which the front working legs of the arms are designed in the manner of mutually abutting cutting edges, such as e.g. is the case with a side cutter.
  • the term pliers generally used here also includes other cutting, crimping or clamping tools, such as Scissors.
  • Pliers of this type have in common that they have two arms which intersect in a joint and whose front sections form the working legs and whose rear sections form the handle legs.
  • the joint is a critical area because the two arms move relative to each other in the joint.
  • a certain pressing force is required in the joint in order to ensure that the working legs of the pliers are guided exactly, but on the other hand the joint tension must not be too great, because otherwise the friction between the arms would be too high.
  • the invention has for its object to provide pliers of the type specified in the preamble of claim 1, which is able to hold the severed end of an object and in which the clamping plate used for this purpose also acts as a rotation lock for the mother.
  • the plate carrying the clamping plate is held by the hinge pin and clamped by the nut seated on the hinge pin.
  • the plate therefore does not need to be guided up to a rear handle leg. It is simply constructed and assembled without additional holding parts required.
  • the plate with the protruding clamping plate represents an easily manufactured and easy to assemble additional part of small dimensions.
  • the plate carrying the clamping plate also has the cam which serves as a locking element for the nut.
  • This plate is non-rotatably against the second leg of the pliers. For this purpose, it can have a recess into which a cam of the second arm engages.
  • the pliers consist of the arms 10 and 11, which lie flat on one another in the joint 12 and intersect.
  • the arm 10 consists of the front working leg 10a and the rear handle leg 10b and the arm 11 consists of the front working leg 11a and the rear handle leg 11b.
  • the arms 10, 11 are made of sheet metal material of constant thickness and are covered in the region of the handle parts 10b, 11b with a plastic jacket, which gives the handle parts their shape that is within easy reach.
  • a coil spring is arranged between the two handle parts 10b and 11b, which presses the handle parts apart.
  • the arms 10, 11 have the shape of flat disks lying one on top of the other, which have passage openings 17, 18 for the shaft of the hinge pin 19.
  • the passage opening 18 of the second arm 11 has the same diameter as the passage opening 17 of the first arm 10, but has two flats 18a into which corresponding flats 19a of the hinge pin 19 fit.
  • the second arm 11 is non-rotatably connected to the hinge pin 19 via the flats 18a, 19a, while the first arm 10 can rotate on the shaft of the hinge pin 19.
  • the hinge pin 19 is supported with a head 19b on the outside of the first arm 10.
  • the tapered threaded shaft 19c of the joint pin 19 protruding from the arm 11 carries a nut 20 which in the present case consists entirely of plastic and which has a threaded bore which is screwed onto the threaded shaft 19c.
  • the nut 20 is a round disk, which consists of a radial flange 21 and there is a transversely extending, outwardly facing strip-shaped extension 22 through which the threaded bore passes.
  • the approach 22 forms a handle part for turning the nut.
  • a circumferential ring gear 23 made of numerous radially extending grooves which form the tooth gaps and the teeth located between the grooves. The radially inward part of the flange 21 presses against the outside of the arm 11.
  • the clamping part 25 consists of a disc 26 lying between the nut 20 and the second arm 11, through which the hinge pin 19 passes, and a clamping plate 27 extending from the disc 26 (FIG. 3). Through an opening 28 with flats 29, the shaft 19 passes through with the flats 19a, so that the plate 26 is secured against rotation by the shaft 19.
  • the clamping plate 27 projects into the area of the cutting edges 30, 31 (FIGS. 4, 4a) of the working legs 10a, 11 and lies flat against the inclined surface 32 of the working leg 11a leading to the cutting edge 31.
  • the front end of the clamping plate 27 presses in the closed state of the pliers against the inclined surface 33 of the working leg 10a. If a wire 34 (FIG. 4a) is pinched off between the cutting edges 30, 31 of the working legs 10a, 11a, the clamping plate 27 presses the cut wire 34 against the inclined surface 33, so that the wire 34 cannot fly away.
  • the wire 34 is only released when the pliers designed as side cutters are opened.
  • a bead of the plate 26 made of sheet metal forms a cam 24 '.
  • the plate 26 represents a washer to the nut 20 to a certain extent.
  • a recess 35 is provided on the circumference of the plate 26, offset by 180 ° with respect to the cam 24 ′, into which a cam 36 of the arm 11 projects around the clamping part 25 to hold in a defined position against rotation relative to the arm 11.
  • FIGs. 5 to 7 another embodiment of the nut 20 'is shown.
  • the nut 20 ' contains a threaded bush 36 made of metal which extends over the entire height of the nut.
  • the threaded bushing 36 has a flange 36a at the outer end to which a tubular profiled part 36b, e.g. with external hexagon, connects.
  • the threaded bushing 36 is enclosed by the plastic body 37, which also forms the transverse shoulder 22.
  • the ring gear 23 therefore consists of mutually spaced, radially extending to the nut 20 'depressions in the lower end of the nut.
  • the clamping part 25 is made in one piece from a stamped and correspondingly bent sheet metal.
