Abstract

The invention relates to a stay (1) for a corset having a flat cross-section consisting of a plastic-sheathed, resilient reinforcing support consisting of a plurality of resilient rods (4) arranged with lateral spacing in one plane, parallel to each other, the sheathing material (5) connecting the rods (4), in a manner such as to fill the interstices and form an integral corset stay (1). The corset stay is to be particularly simple to produce and process and to be capable of being stitched through, being intended to be attached to the item of clothing in question along its entire length after stitching. In addition, the corset stay is to have a suitable dimensional elasticity, transverse rigidity and flexural strength. According to the invention, the sheathing material (5) of the corset stay is an imbedding composition which adheres on all sides to the peripheral surfaces of the rods and consists of a more yielding plastic than the rods (4). <IMAGE>
