Abstract
A color-changing coating is transferred by pressure in a
coating station from a transfer ribbon onto a selected region
of an indicator. The continuous coated ribbon and a con
tinuous length of indicators are each conveyed through the
coating station, generally in a parallel direction. Pressure
may be applied by rollers forming transferred shapes of
coating such as bars extending in the direction of con
veyance. The color changing coating may contain a compo
nent such as a compound with conjugated acetylenic bonds
which changes color as a cumulative measurement of
temperature exposure.
