Abstract

A height-adjustable office chair having an incline-adjustable seat and back includes a bearing device to which is connected a length-adjustable seat pneumatic spring connected by an articulated joint to the seat structure, a length-adjustable back-rest pneumatic spring connected to the back by an articulated joint, and a height-adjustable pneumatic spring. The actuating rods of all three of these pneumatic springs are in the bearing device and are controlled by an actuating lever movable both horizontally and vertically. Vertical movement of the actuating lever controls the height-adjustable pneumatic spring. Horizontal movement of the actuating lever serves to control one of two intermediate levers which are respectively arrestable and lockable by a detent lever located above the height-adjustable pneumatic spring.

Description

The invention relates to a carrying device according to the preamble of claim 1.

In such a support device known from DE-OS 29 29 428 (corresponding to EP-PS 0022933), a guide with various guideways is provided as the guideway, in which a positive guidance and a fixing of the actuating lever in a deflected position is possible. Thus, the actuating lever can be pivoted horizontally in one guideway in one direction or the other, whereby an actuating pin of a gas spring is inserted into each of these. In this way, a change in the inclination of the seat or the backrest can be carried out separately. In order to make the seat and the backrest freely rockable, that is to say to release the locking by means of the corresponding gas spring, the actuating lever can be pivoted upwards in a vertical guideway of the link and can be elastically engaged. In this position, the corresponding sections of a ring formed on the actuating lever and abutting the intermediate levers push the two intermediate levers apart like a scissors, as a result of which both actuating pins are pushed into the respective gas spring. Since the operating lever is locked in this position, the operating pins remain open so that the seat and backrest can rock freely against the gas pressure in the gas spring. Since the ring formed on the actuating lever surrounds the chair column, the chair column cannot be adjusted by means of this actuating lever. In a practical version, a separate operating lever is provided for this. Furthermore, it is not possible to lock the actuating pin in the inserted position only with the backrest gas spring or with the seat gas spring.

From US-PS 3 837 704 it is known in a chair with a chair column formed by a length-adjustable gas spring and a backrest also inclinable by means of a backrest gas spring, by means of only one vertically and horizontally pivotable operating lever either the length adjustment of the chair column or the length adjustment of the backrest gas spring and thus triggering the inclination adjustment of the backrest. The inclination of the seat is not adjustable. A locking of the actuating pin in its inserted position is not provided.

A similar solution is known from CH-PS 563 753. The invention has for its object to provide a support device of the generic type, in which the actuating pins of the backrest gas spring and seat gas spring can each be separately locked with a simplified structure.

According to the invention, this object is achieved by the characterizing features of claim 1.

The essence of the invention is that the actuating lever itself is not locked in the position in which one or the other actuating pin is locked. The actuating lever is rather used only for pivoting the intermediate lever, which in its fully deflected position then latches itself in this deflected position by means of the respective latching lever, in which case the associated actuating pin of a gas spring is then engaged. This configuration also makes it possible to use the actuating lever for adjusting the length of the chair column, since it is always available; Even if the backrest gas spring and / or seat gas spring are set to rocking operation, the actuating lever is available for further functions, for example the height adjustment of the chair column.

Particular embodiments of the invention are specified in dependent claims 2-5.

The measures according to claim 2 result in that for the length adjustment of the backrest gas spring or seat gas spring, the actuating lever is only deflected in the corresponding horizontal direction, the length adjustment not causing the deflection to take place as far as to lock the intermediate lever. The latching is then released by a simple upward movement of the corresponding actuating section of the actuating lever against the latching lever or latches.

The measures according to the invention make it possible to design the actuating lever itself in a manner known per se in accordance with claim 3.

Further advantages of the invention result from the following description of an exemplary embodiment with reference to the drawing. It shows
  • 1 is a support device according to the invention with an inclinable support plate for a seat and an inclinable backrest,
  • 2 is a partial section of the support device on an enlarged scale,
  • Fig. 3 shows a section through the support device according to section line 111-111 in Fig. 2 and
  • Fig. 4 is a partial section of the support device according to the illustration in Fig. 2 in the adjusted state.

A support plate 2 for a seat 3 of an office chair is mounted on a housing-like support device 1 so that it can be tilted about a pivot axis 4. On the support device 1, a backrest support 5 is furthermore adjustable in its inclination about a pivot axis 6. The pivot axes 4, 6 are arranged parallel to one another and run perpendicular to the main central plane of the office chair. The support device 1 is supported on a height-adjustable chair column 7, which is essentially formed by a length-adjustable gas spring, which in turn is supported in a guide tube connected or connectable to a foot frame.

The structure and mode of operation of these commercially available gas springs is, for example, in DE-PS 1812282 (corresponding to US-PS 3656593) shown and described. The design of such a commercially available chair column with guide tube is known for example from DE-PS 1931 012 (corresponding to US-PS 3711 054). The gas spring serving as a chair column 7 is provided at its upper end with a conical holding section 8 which is held in a corresponding conical receptacle 9 of the carrying device 1. The chair column 7 protrudes vertically downward from the support device 1. An actuating pin 11, which is displaceable in the axial direction and protrudes from the holding section 8, coaxially to the central longitudinal axis 10 of the chair column 7, for the length adjustment of the chair column 7.

The support plate 2 for the seat 3 can be pivoted about the pivot axis 4 by means of a seat gas spring 12. For this purpose, the free end of the piston rod 13 of the seat gas spring 12 is connected by means of a swivel joint 14 to the support plate 2 in its front region, that is to say the region facing away from the backrest support 5. The other end of the seat gas spring 12 is pivotally connected to the support device 1 by means of a ball joint 15, so that the essentially cylindrical housing 16 of the seat gas spring 12 can only be pivoted relative to the support device 1, but cannot be displaced in its own longitudinal direction. The seat gas spring 12 is adjustable in length and of the same basic structure as the chair column 7, i.e. their structure also corresponds to DE-PS 1812282 (corresponding to US-PS 3,656,593). An actuating pin 18 which can be displaced in the direction of the central longitudinal axis 17 of the seat gas spring 12 for triggering or ending a length adjustment of the seat gas spring 12 projects through the ball joint 15 into the carrying device 1.

For the inclination adjustment of the backrest support 5, a backrest gas spring 19 is provided, which corresponds in structure and function to the seat gas spring 12. The backrest gas spring 19 is connected to the backrest support at a sufficient distance from the pivot axis 6 by means of a swivel joint 21 attached to the free end of its piston rod 20. Its cylindrical housing 22 is pivotally connected to the support device 1 at the opposite end by means of a ball joint 23, but is non-displaceably connected in the direction of its central longitudinal axis 24. An actuating pin 25 for the length adjustment of the backrest gas spring 19 projects into the carrying device. The three central-longitudinal axes 10, 17, 24 rise in a common plane that coincides with the main central plane of the office chair, as already mentioned.

For the indirect or direct actuation of the actuating pins 11, 18, 25, an actuating lever 26 is provided, the central longitudinal axis 27 of which is approximately perpendicular to the three axes 10, 17, 24, ie approximately perpendicular to the main symmetry plane of the Chair runs. A handle 28 attached to the free outer end of the actuating lever 26 is thus arranged approximately laterally below the support plate 2 or the seat 3, so that the actuating lever 26 can be comfortably reached and operated by a person sitting on a chair. The actuating lever 26 is pivotally supported in the carrying device 1 by means of a ball joint 29. For the indirect or direct actuation of the actuating pins 11, 18, 25, an actuating section 30 of the actuating lever 26 projects beyond the ball joint 29 into the carrying device 1. The actuating lever 26 is thus mounted in the area between the actuating pins 11, 18, 25 and the outer end formed by the handle 28.

The actuating section 30 has at its free end a tapered guide section 31 which is guided on a guide track 32. This guideway is essentially horizontal, as indicated in FIG. 2, and has a central track section 33, which is assigned to the actuating pin 11 of the chair column 7 and extends downward. If the actuating lever 26 is pivoted from its central position shown in the drawing in a vertical plane in such a way that the handle 28 is pulled up and thus the guide section 31 is inserted into the track section 33, then the actuating section 30 of the actuating lever 26 is pivoted downward, whereby the actuating pin 11 of the chair column 7 is pushed into the latter, whereby the internal actuating valve is opened. The chair column 7 can now be lengthened or shortened in the usual known manner, as a result of which the support plate 2 with the seat 3 is adjusted in its height.

23.In the lower area of the carrying device, on both sides of the receptacle 9, that is also on both sides of the chair column 7, mirror levers 34, 35 are pivotably mounted about their lower semicircular ends 36, 37, namely to the actuating pins 18 and 25 of the seat gas spring 12 and the other Backrest gas spring 19 out. Their actuating pins 18 and 25 rest on middle, relative to the actuating pins 18, 25 outwardly bent contact surfaces 38, 39 of the intermediate levers 34, 35. Due to the deflection of the contact surfaces 38, 39, the actuating pins 18 and 25 are also in different pivoting positions of the seat gas spring 12 or backrest gas spring 19 on the contact surfaces 38 and 39, without any displacement due to the different pivoting positions, ie actuation of the actuating pins 18 or 25 is effected. The curvature of the contact surfaces 38, 39 thus runs approximately approximately concentrically with the respective ball joints 17 and 23, respectively.

The upper free ends of the intermediate lever 34, 35 are formed by the contact surfaces 38, 39 each cranked inward and upward latching sections 40, 41, which are arranged on both sides of the actuating section 30 of the actuating lever 26 in the rest position and opposite the latter in the rest position have little play. If the operating lever 26 about in the horizontal - relative to the support plate 2 of the seat 3 to the front or back - then either the intermediate lever 34 with appropriate actuation of the actuating pin 18 of the seat gas spring 12 or the intermediate lever 35 with the corresponding actuation of the actuating pin 25 of the backrest gas spring 19 from it Rest position swung outwards. With such a corresponding actuation, either the inclination of the support plate 2 with the seat 3 or the inclination of the backrest support 5 can be changed in each case about the pivot axes 4 or 6. When the handle 28 of the actuating lever 26 is released by the operator, it is shifted into its central position by the actuating pin 18 or 25 via the corresponding intermediate lever 34 or 35. The valve of the corresponding gas spring actuated by the respective actuating pin 18 or 25 is then closed. The support plate 2 or the backrest support 5 are again fixed in a new inclination position. In the case of the horizontal pivoting movements of the actuating section 30 of the actuating lever 26, the latter is guided on track sections 42 and 43 of the guide track 32 formed on both sides of the track section 33 which is directed approximately vertically downward.

41 anliegen. Die Kreuzungsstelle der beiden Rasthebel 44, 45 befindet sich unmittelbar oberhalb des Betätigungsabschnittes 30 des Betätigungshebels 26.Above the actuating lever, two crossed locking levers 44, 45 are arranged in the carrying device 1, which are pivotably supported in the carrying device 1 by means of their upper outer, curved ends 46, 47. They are pressed down by means of a compression spring 48 arranged concentrically to the central longitudinal axis 10, so that their lower, approximately horizontally arranged and slightly upwardly bent ends 49, 50 bear against the latching sections 40 and 41, respectively. The crossing point of the two locking levers 44, 45 is located directly above the actuating section 30 of the actuating lever 26.

If the actuating lever 26 is pivoted horizontally such that the intermediate lever 34 associated with the seat gas spring 12 is pivoted by actuating the corresponding actuating pin 18, then during this pivoting movement the free end 49 of the latching lever 44 is raised on the latching section 40 of the intermediate lever and presses against this, because the locking lever 44 is slightly deflected upwards by the pivoting of the intermediate lever 34 against the pressure of the compression spring 48. If only a length adjustment of the seat gas spring 12, that is to say an inclination adjustment of the support plate 2 of the seat 3, is to be made, it remains so. If, on the other hand, the actuating pin 18 is to be locked in its position pushed into the seat gas spring 12, that is to say if the inner valve of the seat gas spring 12 is to be constantly open, then the actuating lever 26 is pivoted horizontally so far that the latching section 40 of the intermediate lever engages with the cranked end 49 of the locking lever 44 is brought. The locking lever 44 is pressed down by the compression spring 48 and sits with its cranked end 49 on and behind the locking section 40 of the intermediate lever 34. In the same way, the actuating pin 25 of the backrest gas spring 19 can only be inserted for an inclination adjustment of the backrest support 5 or alternatively be locked in the inserted position, in which the lower cranked end 50 of the locking lever 45 then sits on and behind the locking section 41 of the intermediate lever 35. As shown in Fig. 4. To release the locking of one or both intermediate levers 34 and 35 and thus one or both actuating pins 18 and 25, the handle 28 of the actuating lever 26 is pressed down in the central position, as a result of which its actuating section 30 is pushed upward against the crossing region of the latching levers 44, 45 is pressed. As a result, these and thus their cranked ends 49, 50 are lifted upward, so that one or both actuating pins 18 and 29 can push the intermediate lever or levers 34 and 35 back into their rest position. The actuating lever 26 is brought back into its central rest position or held there by an elastic cushion 51, for example made of foamed polyurethane foam.
