Endschalter 55, 56 erkennen und signalisieren die jeweilige Stellung des Gleitstückes und damit des Ausstoßlöffels zur elektrischen/elektronischen Steuerung 9 und bewirken das ablaufgerechte Ein- und Ausschalten des Antriebsmotors 8. In der linken Seitenwand 4 ist in Verlängerung des Preßraumes 47 (des Ausstoßlöffels) eine Öffnung 57 vorgesehen, vor der sich der Zigarettenhülsen-Aufnahmestutzen 58 (Füllrohr) befindet (sh. Appliance according to Claim 1, characterized in that the pick-off device (67) exhibits a segment that can be rotated through approximately 90°, sweeping past an exit opening (70) in the magazine (11) in a manner such that it blocks this opening, this segment being provided with a recess (68) which extends transversely, and into which an empty casing (66) can be transferred every time that the exit opening is passed, and in that wipe-off fingers (75) are attached to the segment, these fingers (75) being capable of reaching through the sliding carriage (64, 71) as the segment is rotated into the position for receiving an empty casing (66), and of lifting out a cigarette (76) that is present on the carriage.
3. Appliance according to Claim 1 or 2, characterized in that a slidable centering device (62) is provided, this device being equipped with thin, resilient centering tongues (61) that point towards the central axis, fitting around the tubular receiving nozzle (58) and serving to center the cigarette casings (66) that are to be slipped onto the said nozzle.
4. Appliance according to any one of the preceding Claims, characterized in that the magazine (11) for the empty cigarette casings is inclined with respect to the cigarette-transport carriage (64).
5. Appliance according to Claim 4, characterized in that a rocker-arm arrangement (79) is provided in order to guarantee that the empty paper casings (66) slide in a trouble-free manner, one after another, into the front position from which they are removed, this rocker-arm arrangement (79) enabling the magazine (11) to be raised and lowered, with a jolt, at least once during each operating cycle, and in that an angle piece (41), fastened to the pressing beam (28), is provided for triggering the movement.
6. Appliance according to any one of the preceding Claims, characterized in that the magazine (11) can be closed by means of a snap- on lid (12).
7. Appliance according to any one of the preceding Claims, characterized in that the magazine (11) can be lowered into the outer enclosure when the appliance is not in use.
8. Appliance according to any one of the preceding Claims, characterized in that the element for ejecting the rod of tobacco formed by the pressing beam and the shaped piece is designed as a longitudinally slidable, approximately semicircular, hollow ejecting spoon (45) which is installed inside the concave, channel-like recess within the shaped piece, and which, on its inner surface, facing the rod of tobacco, is given a finish that resembles a series of scales.

Appliance according to any one of the preceding Claims, characterized in that the ejecting spoon (45) is driven by means of a spindle drive, a spindle nut being provided on a threaded spindle (51) that is coupled to a rearward prolongation (54) of the ejecting spoon, this spindle nut being termed a slider (52).

Appliance according to any one of the preceding Claims, characterized in that an over dead-centre position is prescribed for the pressing beam (28) during the ejection of the rod of tobacco that has been formed, into which position the pressing beam moves, slightly rearwards, from its travel limit position - i.e. from the pressing position - and in which slightly rearward position the pressing pressure on the rod of tobacco is relieved.
11. Appliance according to any one of the preceding Claims, characterized in that a tobacco quantity metering device is provided in the funnel throat between the funnel-shaped charging receptacle (10) and the tobacco supply chamber (25).
12. Appliance according to any one of the preceding Claims, characterized in that the metering device is designed as a metering shaft which is provided with knife-like cutting edges (18), and with tobacco-receiving recesses (17) that are moulded into the shaft in advance of these cutting edges.
13. Appliance according to any one of the preceding Claims, characterized in that the funnel throat can be adjusted by means of repositionable sidewalls.
14. Appliance according to any one of the preceding Claims, characterized in that the metering device is provided with two oppositely rotatable metering shafts (13, 14).
15. Appliance according to Claim 14, characterized in that the metering shafts (13, 14) are spaced one from the other, and in that a comb-like rake (16) is installed within the throat gap (15).
16. Appliance according to any one of the preceding Claims, characterized in that a U-shaped component (19) is installed above the metering device, in a manner such that it can move backwards and forwards.
17. Appliance according to any one of the preceding Claims, characterized in that an axle (19') is installed above the metering device, this axle (19') carrying leaf-shaped plates (82) which are attached at angularly staggered positions, which act as cutting blades, which extend to just above the metering device, and which can be swung backwards and forwards above the metering device when it is operating.
18. Appliance according to any one of the preceding Claims, characterized in that an upwardly and downwardly movable, bow-shaped component (39) is provided in the tobacco supply chamber (25), this bow-shaped component (39) pressing against the tobacco during the pressing operation.
19. Appliance according to any one of the preceding Claims, characterized in that the pressing beam drive is implemented by means of an eccentric-type mechanism, comprising a drive wheel (30) that possesses an eccentric driving pin (31) which engages into a transverse slot (32) in the pressing beam (28).
20. Appliance according to Claim 19, characterized in that the slot (32) is provided in a slide pad (34) in the pressing beam (28), this slide pad being resiliently retained.
21. Appliance according to any one of the preceding Claims, characterized in that a cutting edge (34) (sic) is provided on the shaped piece (37) which faces the concave-radiused face (35) of the pressing beam (28).
22. Appliance according to any one of the preceding Claims, characterized in that a transversely repositionable sidewall (26) is provided in the tobacco supply chamber (25), this sidewall (26) being adjustable by means of adjusting screws and its position at any given time defining the bottom width of the tobacco supply chamber.
