A roller inking mechanism for a printing machine, more particularly for a rotogravure press, in which axially divided slotted nozzles (5, 6) for the ink supply are provided one on each side and over the entire length of the inking roller (3), each slotted nozzle (5, 6) having a beak shape, each beak (7, 8) being directed towards the inking roller (3), characterised in that on its side remote from the inking roller (3) each beak (7, 8) widens out into a tubular chamber (9) axially parallel to the inking roller (3), each chamber (9, 10) communicates with a supply tube (11, 12) for the printing ink, the slot aperture (27) of each slotted nozzle (5, 6) is divided by thin vertical partitions (28) into separate outflow apertures (27) which are partially or completely closable by closure means (30) movable in the flow direction and each supply tube (11, 12) has its own associated shut-off valve for optional opening or closing of the ink supply in dependence on the direction of rotation (f, g) of the inking roller (3).
2. A roller inking mechanism according to claim 1, characterized in that the width (a) of the aperture (27) of the slot (5, 6) is between 1 and 10 mm.
3. A roller inking mechanism according to claims 1 and 2, characterised in that each shut-off means (30) consists of a cube-like wedge-shaped member operatively connected to a drive rod (31) mounted inside the slotted nozzle (5, 6) and adapted to be actuated from the outside of the nozzle.
4. A roller inking mechanism according to claim 1, characterized in that the slotted nozzles (5, 6) are disposed adjustably (h) on a pivotable lever (21) which rotatably mounts the inking roller (3) between the slotted nozzles (5, 6).
5. A roller inking mechanism according to claim 4, characterized in that the pivotable lever (21) is operatively connected to an actuating mechanism (22).
6. A roller inking mechanism according to claim 5, characterised in thats the actuating mechanism (22) consists of a screw spindle (25) with a handwheel (26) and said screw spindle (25) is operatively connected to a tapped bore provided at the free end of the pivoting lever (23).
7. A roller inking mechanism according to claim 5, characterised in that the screw spindle (25) is received in a mounting (25') movable against the action of a spring in the axial direction of the screw spindle.
8. A roller inking mechanism according to claim 5, characterised in that the actuating mechanism (22) of the pivoting lever (21) is in the form of rack or a piston rod of a working cylinder.
