- the invention relates to an arrangement of disc brakes on a rail vehicle driven via a multi-stage reduction gear outside the wheel set.
- Disc brakes of rail vehicles generally act directly on the impeller, i.e. the impellers are designed as brake discs and are overlapped by the brake teeth. Such an arrangement not inconsiderably increases the weight of the impeller and thus the unsprung mass. If the brake device with the brake caliper, the brake cylinders and the like is suspended from the sprung part of the vehicle for the purpose of reducing the mass of the wheel set, then disadvantageous relative movements between the parts of the brake system occur during operation.
- the invention has for its object to reduce the unsprung masses of the entire drive with the aid of a brake arrangement of the aforementioned Ar t and thereby design the disc brake so that it consists of only a few parts and these parts do not perform any relative movements to one another.
- the invention consists in that an intermediate shaft of the gearbox passes through its housing and carries a brake disc on the outside, on which a braking device suspended directly on the housing acts.

- the brake disc is advantageously made in one piece. This makes it easy to replace a worn disc, as it can be removed from the shaft end without having to carry out auxiliary disassembly from the drive unit or on the frame. Compared to the state of the art, all pressing and pressing work is eliminated. In addition to the saving in services, this means a significant reduction in risk on the parts that previously had to be pressed or dismantled, such as the axle, impeller and bearing.

It carries at its ends a brake disc 14 on which brake devices 15 act, e.g. a brake caliper 16 with a brake cylinder 17. The two latter are connected to the housing 13, so that there is no relative movement between the brake disc 14 and the braking devices 15.
