  • This stop 25 extends, parallel to the strand 13, on the one hand, at a distance from the inlet 20 of the hopper which is slightly greater than the maximum diameter of the cartridges 3 which can be packed by the device and, on the other hand share, on a significant part of the hopper from movable guide 102.
  • Means 26 are provided for moving, in a direction perpendicular to the bottom 19 , this stop 25 between its two extreme positions. These means 26 are, as shown in FIG. 5, constituted by an electromagnet 27 fixed below the hopper and whose core 28 is fixed to the stop 25 and by a switch 29, the control 30 of which projects from the bottom 19.
  • This control 30 is arranged between the inlet 20 of the hopper and the stop 25, near the fixed guide 101 and at a distance from the stop such as a cartridge, the diameter of which is between the minimum diameters and maximum cartridges can be crated by the appliance, pressing the stopper 25 based on the control 3 0.
  • the circuit of the switch 29 and of the electromagnet 27 is arranged so that the latter is energized to eclipse the stop 25 under the bottom 19 each time a cartridge, introduced into the hopper, is in contact by one of its generators with the stop 25 and, in this position, rests on the control 30 of the switch 29.
  • the cartridge bearing on the latter descends into the hopper, by gravity , and releases the control 30 of the switch 29 which cuts the power supply to the electromagnet 27, the stop 25 then being returned to its first extreme position, by the spring 31, to correctly intercept and position the next cartridge.
  • the end 104 of the guide 102 is located at a distance from the stop 25 lower than the smallest radius of the cartridges that can be boxed by the device so that the base of the cartridge can bear on the end 104 of the guide and pivot around the latter to come to bear on the stop 25.
  • a second movable stop 105 similar to the stop 25 is arranged in the hopper parallel to this stop 25 and at a level lower than that of the latter.
  • the distance between the stop 25 and the stop 105 corresponds to a multiple of the maximum diameter of the cartridges that can be boxed by the device, this multiple being less than or equal to the number of cartridges to be crated per box.
  • This stop 105 is, like the stop 25, controlled by an electromagnet 106 whose circuit is arranged so that the electromagnet is energized, to eclipse the stop 105 under the bottom of the hopper, via a counting device, not shown, for a predetermined number of objects, receiving its pulses from the aforementioned switch 29.
  • the stop 105 extends from the guide 102 over a large part of the hopper, openings 107 and 108 being provided in said guide 102 to allow passage to the stops 25 and 105 so that they can extend on either side of the movable guide 102 so that, when the latter is separated as far as possible from the fixed guide 101, the stops 25 and 105 close the openings 107 and 108.
  • the purpose of the stop 105 is twofold.
  • the means 6 for placing, one by one, the prefabricated empty boxes on the path of the cartridges 3 escaping from the opening 22 of the hopper 18 comprise an enclosure 32, the dimensions of which correspond to those of the open box intended to receive at least a row of cartridges arranged parallel to the longitudinal axis of the above-mentioned strand 13, delimited by an inclined plane 33 parallel to the bottom 19 of the hopper 18 and situated at a level lower than that of this bottom 19 and at a distance from the latter at less slightly higher than the height of the box, by a fixed guide 34 perpendicular to the inclined plane 33 and parallel to the direction of movement of the objects in the hopper, by a movable guide 109, of position adjustable as a function of the dimension d of the cartridges and of the corresponding dimension of the boxes, parallel to the fixed guide 34 and by a retractable stop 35 arranged between the guides 34 and 109 and projecting with respect to the inclined plane 33, perpendicular to this s latest and guides.
  • the position of the stop 35 is adjustable, said stop being arranged so that it can be moved parallel to itself as a function of the size of the boxes taken parallel to the direction of movement of the cartridges 3 in the hopper 18 and so that this stop comes into contact with the movable guide 109, whatever the position of the latter, to cooperate with the means ensuring the automatic opening of the boxes 7.
  • Means 126 are provided for moving the stop 35 so to adjust its position so that it is located at a distance such from the opening 22 of the hopper that a formed box, disposed in the enclosure 32, the bottom of which rests on the inclined plane 33 and three side walls of which take support on the guides 34 and 109 and on the stop 35, at its opening, in the zone of the box located at the highest level, disposed opposite the opening 22 of the hopper so that the cartridges passing through the latter fall into the box and fall into it by gravity.
  • the means 6 also include a store 36 of prefabricated boxes 7 arranged outside the enclosure 32 and communicating with the latter.
  • This magazine 36 is arranged near the fixed guide 34 and made so that the boxes 7 are stored in the folded position and so that the parts constituting the side walls of the boxes are arranged perpendicular to the inclined plane 33, means 110 being provided for passing the boxes one by one from the magazine 36 into the enclosure 32 while ensuring their opening during their transfer as well as means 111 for actuating the retractable stop 35 in order to eclipse it under the inclined plane 33 to authorize a filled box to leave enclosure 32 by gravity.
  • the magazine 36 is constituted by a support 37 for the boxes extending in the extension of the inclined plane 33, by a fixed stop 38 extending perpendicular to this plane and against which the boxes 7 are supported, by a fixed guide 112 extending perpendicular to the stop 38 and against which the boxes 7 are aligned and by a movable guide 39 extending parallel to the stop 38, the latter and the guides 39 and 112 being located above the support 37.
  • the mobile guide 39 is guided in parallel grooves 40 formed in the support 37 and returned to the stop 38 by a counterweight so that the boxes 7 are compressed in the magazine between this stop 38 and the guide 39.
  • the means 110 provided for passing the boxes 7 one by one from the magazine 36 into the enclosure 32 comprises a space 42 defined, in the vicinity of the angle 43 of the enclosure, by the end 113 of the fixed guide 112 of the magazine and by the lateral surface of a straight cylindrical body 45, partially housed under the bottom 19 of the hopper, arranged to rotate around a shaft 46 of axis perpendicular to the inclined plane 33, the distance separating the ends 44 and 113 of the guides 34 and 112 of said lateral surface being slightly greater than the thickness of a box 7 in the folded position.
  • the face 46 of the fixed stop 38 extends substantially tangentially to the lateral surface of the body 45 and the plane passing through this face 46 intersects the movable guide 109 of the enclosure 32 at a level slightly higher than the intersection of this guide movable 109 and the retractable stop 35 when the latter occupies its position closest to the opening 22 of the hopper.
  • the cylindrical body 45 is rotated by a motor 47, fixed to the inclined plane 33, the circuit of which is arranged so that its energization and de-energization is controlled by a switch 114 whose control 114 'is located inside of the enclosure 32 and fixed on the movable guide 109 below the opening 22 of the hopper so that it is actuated by the corresponding side wall of the box introduced into the enclosure when this box is formed, the presence of a box cutting the power supply to the motor while the absence of box authorized the power up of the latter.
  • the fixed guide 112 of the magazine is advantageously made in two pieces, a fixed piece 112 'and a piece 112 "whose position is' adjustable relative to the piece 112', so as to be able to precisely adjust the distance between the end of the part 112 "closest to the cylindrical body 45 of the lateral surface of the latter as a function of the thickness of the boxes 7 in the folded position, so that a single box can engage in the space between said end of the part 112 "and the lateral surface of the cylindrical body.
  • the means 111 for eclipsing the stop 35 under the inclined plane 33, for authorizing the evacuation of a box filled with the enclosure consist of an electromagnet 48, fixed to a device 115 which will be described below, whose core is associated with the stop.
