Claims (6)

1. A drive device for a sliding panel (PC) of a motor vehicle comprising two guiding slideways which are connected to the part of the body (P) of the vehicle receiving the sliding panel (PC) and in which are engaged respective lateral edges of the sliding panel (PC), a drive device (20, 21, 22, 23) for the automatic control of the movements of the panel (PC) comprising a plate (20) on which is mounted a drive motor (21) whose output shaft supports a movable rotary gearing element (23) and which is itself pivotally mounted on said part of the body (P) to pivot about a pin (25) which is roughly perpendicular to the sliding plane of said panel (PC), and a coupling device comprising a slideway (28) in which is engaged a slide (27) connected to the pivotally mounted plate (20), said slideway (28) acting on a third edge of the panel (PC) and being engaged with the output of the drive device (20, 21, 22, 23), this drive device being characterised in that it further comprises a second gearing element (30) which is connected to said part of the body (P) and along which said movable gearing element (23) is adapted to roll, the plate (20) is slidably mounted in its own plane on its pivot pin (25) and the gearing element connected to the part of the body (P) is a straight rack (30) parallel to the sliding plane of the panel (PC) and connected to an arcuate guide (32) which extends in the same plane and cooperates with a follower element (29) of this guide (32) connected to said plate (20).
2. A device according to claim 1, characterised in that the pivot pin (25) of the plate (20) is engaged in a rectilinear opening (24) formed in the plate.
3. A device according to claim 1 or 2, characterised in that it comprises a plate (31) mounted on the concerned part of the body (P) of the vehicle in a plane parallel to the sliding plane of the panel (PC), said plate (31) having an arcuate slot (32) in which is slidable a pin (29) connected to the plate (20), said rack (30) being formed on an edge of this plate (31).
4. A drive device for a sliding panel (PC) of a motor vehicle comprising two guiding slideways which are connected to the part of the body (P) of the vehicle receiving the sliding panel (PC) in which are engaged respective lateral edges of the sliding panel (PC), a drive device (33-36) and (49-52) for the automatic control of the movements of the panel (PC) comprising a plate (33, 49) on which are mounted a drive motor (34, 50) whose output shaft supports a movable rotary gearing element (36) which is itself pivotally mounted on said part of the body (P) to pivot about a pin (38, 51) which is roughly perpendicular to the sliding plane of said panel (PC), and a coupling device comprising guiding means (41, 46) and (55, 59) in which are engaged a first slide (40, 54) connected to the pivotally mounted plate (33, 49) and a second slide (45, 57) coupled to said plate (33, 49), the movements of the first and second plates (40, 54) and (45, 57) being symmetrical relative to the vertical plane perpendicular to the plate (33, 49) and comprising the coupling point between the plate and the support (44, 56) of the second slide (45, 57), said guiding means (41, 46) and (54, 59) acting on a third edge of the panel (PC) and being engaged with an output of the drive device (33, 36) and (49, 52), this drive device being characterised in that it further comprises a second gearing element (37, 52) which is connected to said part of the body (P) and on which said movable gearing element (36) is adapted to roll, and the guiding means fixed to the panel (PC) are constituted by two slideways (41, 46) and (55, 59) in which respectively move the first and second slides (40, 54) and (45, 57).
5. A device according to claim 4, characterised in that said second slide (45) is mounted at the end of an arm (44) pivotally mounted on a part of the body (P) and has a toothed sector (47) which engages with a complementary toothed sector (48) formed on said plate (33).
6. A device according to claim 4, characterised in that the second slide (57) is connected to the end of an arm (56) pivotally mounted on an extension (54) of the plate (49) carrying the first slide (54), this second arm being in the known manner connected also at its other end to a third slide (58) which moves in the guide (60) connected to the part of the body (P) of the vehicle on a path corresponding to a displacement of the third edge of the sliding panel (PC) in a direction parallel to itself.
