Recovery of the osmotic solute can be accomplished using a variety of means, including the use of a membrane device. The recovery of the permeate involved in osmosis can also comprise steps in which multi-stage recovery of the solute is carried out using distillation columns and / or membranes, said recovery being assisted by a heat pump.
