Collet fittings (201) include a collet (202) that matches the collet body (204) to hold the split cores. Aluminum wire is removed from the split cores to provide a connection between the collet (202) and the split core. After inserting the composite core into the collet (202), the compression member (206) compresses the collet (202). Frictional forces hold the split core in the collet (202) and the collet (202) further compresses and holds the split core with greater force if the split core pulls the collet (202) deeper into the collet body (204).
