Abstract

A transport and lifting device for containers 82 comprises a base frame 10, main cylinders 12 and a suspension frame 14, which are all articulated to one another. The suspension frame 14, which can be fixed to the corner fittings 86 of the container, is divided into a top and bottom part, which are telescopically assembled. By means of displacement elements incorporated into the bottom part of the frame 14, the top part can be displaced to a height level with the top part of a container 82 placed on a truck 80. By means of a transverse connection 49, 50 the frames 14 can be connected over the container 82, and the bottom part of the frame 14 can then be raised to the bottom edge of the container and connected thereto. The truck 80 can then be driven away and the container lowered to the ground. There is also the facility with the two-part frame 14 in the extended state, by telescoping the cylinders 12, for swinging the frame backwards to a transport position for the device, in which the centre of gravity of each device lies close to the main wheels 18, and in which the device takes up the minimum amount of space. <IMAGE>
