Abstract

In the method for testing the strength of a balcony 13, a securing plate 1 is used, mounted on a mobile crane 2 or a corresponding crane. The securing plate 1 consists of an engaging plate 3 which is displaced under the balcony 13 and a working platform 4 carrying loading equipment, such as weights 10 or a hydraulic or pneumatic working cylinder, the piston of which carries a pressure plate by means of which loading tests of the floor of the balcony can be made. The loading equipment may advantageously be displaced in the lengthwise and the crosswise directions of the balcony, such that the load can be applied at any desired point. The test may be carried out by loading the floor of the balcony with a load corresponding to that prescribed multiplied by a safety factor, or the deflection of the loaded part such as e.g. a girder iron may be measured simultaneously with the weight loading. By means of the method and apparatus, fall accidents during testing of existing balconies are prevented. <IMAGE>
