Abstract

This 2 component injected molded Pacifier made of TPE (Thermoplastic elastomers based on Styrenic-block-copolymers) is the alternative to nature rubber and silicone pacifiers used in generations. This 2 component injected molded pacifier have an airtight nibble, which is new and this feature makes the pacifier far more hygienic since there are no gabs, no holes from the back of the nipple and no liquid can enter the nipple, when boiling the nipple, or the pacifier. The 2 component injecting mold also opens up for a range of varieties of colors molded together with this technique, now you can mold the pacifier in two or more molds with different flexibilities and colors with and/or rigid material TPE. Thermoplastic elastomers offer better resistance towards biting, oils, food, heat, coldness, but most importantly it is 100% recyclable. The TPE can be made of green bio-materials (renewable) but also be 100% upcycled to new pacifiers after use and that´s not possible with natural rubber or silicone. According to the invention this object is realized in that a pacifier comprises a nipple and a shield made of TPE Thermoplastic elastomer or in more rigid material molded together like a nipple part and a shield part, both closed and air tight, wherein the one-piece looking pacifier is so big that the child using the pacifier cannot swallow the pacifier even if folded or twisted since the material is flexible. The shield also has areas left open in the design also to allow air to get in between the baby and the pacifier. The shield on the pacifier will prevent that the nipple is being swallowed by a child in its mouth. Furthermore, the shield has to be shaped such that it allows a child to breathe through its nose while having a pacifier the mouth.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Pacifiers are used to satisfy an infant's non-nutritional suckling instinct in order to comfort them. This 2 component injected pacifier is made in flexible and/or rigid TPE or PP plastic (Polypropylene) due it is safe, material and without any harmful components and it is available in renewable materials or in several parts flexible and/or in rigid parts being, injected molded like green materials said leftovers from the sugar plant, corn production and this material is 100% recyclable and then the used pacifiers can be shredded into granulates and again be reused into new pacifiers.
TPE is strong and durable material and compared to the known pacifiers made of rubber or silicone, the thermoplastic elastomers based on Styrenic-block-copolymers is resistant to oils, food and many different chemicals and the material withstands frost and boiling, as well as sun rays (UV) Compared to silicone made pacifiers the thermoplastic elastomers based on Styrenic-block-copolymers is 100% Recyclable and can be made of renewable materials.
The flexible and/or rigid 2 component thermoplastic elastomers Pacifier is injected molded in a twostep process, where the nipple (2,3) is molded onto the shield (1) and this feature brings more options to the products final looks, when injecting molding the 2 component TPE pacifier in two steps it also allows you to make the pacifiers in 2 colors. The nipple (2,3) can be in one color, the shield (1)in another color, in the same material or in two different materials, since you now can have two color pacifier, the nipple (2,3) can be transparent and the shield (1) in another color also the TPE itself can have an antiracial recipe additive function too, so if dropping the pacifier on the floor bacterial will not grow on the 2 component injected molded pacifier surfaces if adding this antibacterial recipe in the TPE (Thermoplastic elastomers based on
Styrenic-bløck-copolymers.) Also the bacteria cannot get into the airtight nipple (2,3).
The 2 component injected molded is easy to clean and keep clean, since it has no parts being connected together, it is molded together, no gabs or clicks witch always is a weakness and places where food or dirt can get stocked and the 2 component pacifier is also air tight.
Every day hundreds of thousands of pacifiers are thrown out, burned of the simple reason that they cannot be recycled, therefore this new material for pacifiers is extremely suitable, as it solves the task of comforting the child, but at the same time the TPE material can withstand the situations the pacifier is normally exposed to, in fact better or alike than both rubber and silicone, in most situations, but the most important thing is the material. TPE is harmless and safe without phthalates and it can

1. The 2 component injected molded TPE (Thermoplastic elastomers based on Styrenic-block-copolymers ) pacifier (10) comprising a nipple (2,3), a shield (1) and a grip (4,5,6), where the TPE pacifier (10) is made in a 2 step injected molded two- piece or in several parts flexible and/or in rigid parts being, with a grip area (4,5,6) on the back of the TPE shield (1) or othe rigid material, the TPE pacifier (10) will variate in material thickness, the nipple part (2,3) as the thinnest part and the shield (1) thicker than the nipple and the grip (4,5,6) the thickest part of the pacifier (10) with a closed back of the shield (12) and with a nipple (2,3) molded onto the shields front (15), the nipple (2,3) will be airtight (14) and closed in the end (12) of the grip (4,5,6) against the shields (1) inside wall. The shield (1) will be injected molded in one solid material like the nipple (2,3) will be molded in one solid flexible material with air inside the nipple (2,3).

The 2 component injected molded pacifier, could also be made of TPE with an open construction (8), allowing air to enter the center of the nipple (1) coming from the back of the shield (1) side, this to give the pacifier a softer nipple sensation allowing air to enter inside the nipple construction.

The 2 component injected molded pacifier according to claim 1 where the pacifier (10) is injected molded in a 2 component way the shield (1) can be made of flexible or rigid materiel, in one color and the nipple (2,3) in another color and the pacifier will be assembled by the injecting mold process.
4. The 2 component injected molded pacifier according claim 1 and 2 where the shield (1) has air holes (7)

The 2 component injected molded pacifier (10) can also be injected molded in more than two pieces up to 3 or 6 parts could be made into one mold, so the pacifier could have more than 6 different materials molded together and made into one pacifier in the same injection tool and at the same time, but made with different materials if needed.

The 2 component injected molded pacifier according to claim 1, 2 made of color changing thermoplastic Polymer elastomer material in the nipple part, this material {2,3} can change color when the temperature in the mouth is higher than 37 degrees or lower if preferred, this will indicate whether the baby have a fever, high temperature in the mouth,

The 2 component injected molded pacifier according to claim 1,2 can be made of an odeur giving Thermoplastic elastomers based on Styrenic-block-copolymers in the nipple (2,3) or and in the shield {1} in and flexible or rigid material. The odeur can be lemon, strawberry smelling or milk smelling odeur, which could be comforting the baby when using and smelling the pacifier.
9. The 2 component injected molded pacifier according to claim 1,2 made of night glowing material, into the nipple (2,3) and or the flexible and or rigid shield (1) this fluorescent material will make a glow-in-the-dark pacifier, visible even when the light is off.

The 2 component injected molded pacifier according to claim 1,2 where the pacifier is injected molded in a 2 component way the shield (1) can be made of flexible or rigid materiel, and behind the grip (4,5,6) of the pacifier there will be enough room to put a loop of string or other flexible material around the grip area (4,5,6) to ensure a pacifier string/strap, so the pacifier don't fall onto the floor when the child loses the pacifier out of the hands.
