Abstract

A tumbler lock with reduced code reading possibility comprises a number of tumblers 4 arranged next to one another in a lock case, each with a cutout 15, into which a cam 16 on a key 17 belonging to the lock 1 can be inserted. The cutout 15 has two cam regions 23, with which one of the side surfaces 25 of the cam 16 is brought into engagement on rotation of the key 17 during locking or opening. The cutout 15 also has cutouts 32 which are designed in such a manner that the outer part of the cam 16 is permanently out of engagement with the cutout 32 during initiation of key rotation. At the beginning of key rotation, the cam part 23 will thus slide on and possibly leave slide marks on the side surfaces 25 of the cam 16, while no slide marks which can be read in the lock 1 by means of a fibre-optic instrument or the like will be produced on what are known as the key curves of the tumblers 4, that is to say the internal delimiting surfaces 21 of the cutouts 15. The tumbler lock 1 according to the invention is thus considerably better protected against reading of the key code than previously known tumbler locks. <IMAGE>
