Abstract

1276628 Installation apparatus for suspended ceilings CONCH INTERNATIONAL METHANE Ltd 19 April 1971 [20 Feb 1970] 8191/70 Heading E1W [Also in Division F4] A suspended ceiling is assembled from above by means of an apparatus which aligns a panel 4 above its seatings on end plates 5 of hangers 3 and lowers it onto those seatings. The apparatus comprises a tube 11 with brackets 14 which accommodate a bar 12 on which one edge of the panel 4 rests. The opposite edge is supported on a similar bar of an adjacent opposite handed apparatus. The apparatus is supported in its working position by engagement of the tube 11 end with a spigot 21 on the associated hanger and by engagement of a slot 18 in the bracket 17 of the handle 19 with a similar spigot. With the panel positioned on the rods 12 with holes 8 over pegs 6 rotation of the apparatus by movement of the handle 19 through 90‹ results in the panel being lowered into position and released. In the rotated position the hook 15 and the prongs 16 come out of engagement with the respective hangers and the apparatus may be removed. The invention may be used in conjunction with ceiling structures described in Specification No. 1236863. Apertures 8 in the panels may be elongated to allow for thermal expansion. The panels may be heat insulating or acoustic, corrugated or tray like and may have transversely extending box section members 7 to span between hangers.
