Abstract

The building panel is an oblong segmental panel 1 made of mineral wool bound by binder, which is suitable as a core in a sandwich element with surface layers made of, for example, thin metal sheet. The segmental panel consists of segments 2 which are positioned next to one another and extend in the longitudinal direction and the fibre planes of which are at right angles to the main surfaces of the segmental panel. The segments are shorter than the segmental panel and are joined to one another. The joints are distributed over the segmental panel in such a manner that their weakening effect on the strength of the panel is eliminated. The sum of the joint surfaces in the segmental panel within a section of the panel of the length a, where a depends on the length of the panel and on the number of segments over the width, is at most a third of the cross section of the panel.
