Abstract
A video receiver with a switched-mode power supply (6) for generating operating voltages which are DC-isolated from the power mains contains on the mains-connected primary side of the switched-mode power supply a receiving decoder (28) for receiving and decoding remote control signals for switching the video receiver between operating mode and standby mode. In standby mode, the switched-mode power supply is completely de-energised which has the effect that a demagnetising device (18) for the picture tube of the receiver is also de-energised via a triac (19) which is controlled by the input current (Iw) in the mains feedline (20) to the power supply (3) to the switched-mode power supply. The receiving decoder (28) is fed from a transformerless standby power supply having a low active power dissipation, which is independent of the switched-mode power supply. <IMAGE>
