Abstract

A covering for a staircase step (1) in need of renovation comprises a tread board (2) and a front board (3) of wood, an angle section strip (5) of metal, which has two legs, can be firmly connected to the staircase step (1) to be covered and of which the horizontally directed leg (6) is arranged on the underside of the tread board (2) and the vertically directed leg (9) can be connected to the front board (3), as well as an anti-slipping strip (15), which is arranged in a gap between the end face of the tread board (2) and the rear panel of the front board (3), a web (10) protruding towards the front board (3) from the vertically directed leg (9) of the angle section strip (5), and the front board (3) being adapted to fit onto the web (10) by means of a groove provided on its rear side. This web (10) extends obliquely upwards at a certain acute angle from the vertically directed leg (9) of the angle section strip (5). The groove on the rear side of the front board (3) runs at the same acute angle as the web (10) obliquely downwards, so that the front board (3) can be fitted obliquely from above downwards onto the web (10) and thereby fixed securely. <IMAGE>
