Abstract

Friction pads for disc brakes having a rear body of metal in plate form, onto which the pad of friction material is pressed, require for certain applications a heat-insulating intermediate layer between metal and friction lining material, in particular in the case of friction material without asbestos. By the use of a shaped part (5) of aluminium as rear carrier, which is provided on its side facing the friction material pad (14) with a thin coating (13) of ceramic material, applied by the plasma spraying method, a friction pad of great wearing volume is provided, which has a longer service life. <IMAGE>
