In order to further develop a brake pad (10) for spot-type disc brakes with a brake disc, especially for railway vehicles, which is of single- or multi-part (11,12) design and is approximately kidney-shaped or ring segment-shaped and is provided, if required, with a dovetail guide (13) for a pad carrier on a rear side (22), water drainage devices being provided on the front side (21), situated on the side opposite to the rear side (22), intended to enter into contact with the brake disc of the disc brake, in such a way that, on the one hand, the achievable thermoelasticity, i.e. the predetermined deformation achievable under the influence of heat, can be retained and used and that, on the other hand, contaminants such as water, ice and the like which have entered and would hinder the braking action can be reliably removed, it is proposed that the brake pad (10) be provided with at least one perforation (19;20;30;31) extending through from the front side (21) of the brake pad (10) to its rear side (22), suitable for taking up and carrying away friction-impairing contaminants such as water, ice, abraded particles or the like. <IMAGE>
