Abstract

The grill pan comprises a rectangular dish (1) with a raised peripheral edge (2) supporting a carrier rack (3, 4) for the food to be grilled, which is perforated so that the fat drops down into the dish, where it is protected from direct radiant heat by the rack. The carrier rack has at least 2 parts which can slide relative to one another and/or can be individually removed from the dish. Pref. both the rack parts are supported by the raised edge of the dish to allow their relative displacement.

Food carrier for an oven

The invention relates to a food carrier for an oven, consisting of a pan and a carrier loosely placed on the pan and having drip openings.

Such food carriers, especially for grilling in the oven, are known (US 1 961 391). The perforated or grid-like carrier has a size or length that is at least approximately the same as the pan underneath. When grilling, the heated fat or the gravy drips down through the drip openings into the pan, which has a closed base, and is at least partially shielded by the carrier from the heat radiation coming from an upper grill heating element, so that no annoying smoke is produced. Handling the large, one-piece carrier, especially for skimming fat from the pan and pouring it over the food being cooked, e.g. a piece of meat, is relatively complex and difficult.

The invention is based on the object of avoiding the disadvantages inherent in the known food carriers with regard to handling.

This object is achieved according to the invention in that the carrier consists of at least two carrier parts that can be lifted off individually and/or displaced relative to one another.

The inventive design of the carrier with drip openings preferably results in two relatively small parts that can be easily placed in a household dishwasher for cleaning. The two halves of the carrier can be pushed together to skim off fat, or one part can be lifted off for a short time. For small items to be cooked, only a single part can be used, which makes cleaning easier.

The invention is explained below using an embodiment shown in the drawing.

The figure shows a large pan 1 with a raised, all-round edge 2 and a rectangular outline. Two support parts 3 and 4 of a support 3/4 for the food to be fried or grilled are loosely placed on two opposite edge sections of the edge 2, whereby each support part 3, 4 has support flanges or 41 on opposite sides, which rest on the edge 2 of the pan 1 and can be moved in the direction of the arrow. For example, the support part 3 on the left in the figure can be pushed onto or under the support part 4 on the right in the figure, which is indicated by dot-dash lines, so that liquid fat can be scooped out of the pan 1. The base of the support parts 3, 4, which is located at a distance above the pan base 5, has a large number of rectangular, small drip openings 32 and 42 in the embodiment, so that the fat or the gravy can drain into the pan 1 during cooking.
