Cardboard pallet

A cardboard pallet is known from WO 93/16927. It consists of a plate with a corrugated cardboard core, several feet glued to the underside of the plate and several strips that connect the underside of several feet together.

The present invention is based on the object of designing a pallet of the type mentioned at the beginning in such a way that it is even more robust and cheaper to manufacture. This object is achieved by the combination of features according to claim 1.

The pallet shown in Figure 1 consists of a flat, rectangular plate 1, nine feet 2 glued to the underside 5 of the plate 1 and three strips 3 glued to the underside of three feet 2 each. The top side 4 of the plate 1 faces downwards.

The inner part of the board 1 consists, according to Figure 2, of a core 10 made of glued-together, single-wave, one-sided corrugated cardboard 11, the waves of which run perpendicular to the board plane, i.e. to the top 4 and bottom 5, as well as a gray cardboard cut-out 12 glued to the top and bottom of the core 10. The corrugated cardboard 11 of the core 10 can consist of 100% recycled paper. It can also be impregnated with a flame-retardant and/or a water-repellent agent. It is expedient to initially produce it as a large block and

then sawn into slices according to the required core thickness, e.g. using a band saw. It has been shown that with the panel structure according to Figures 2 and 3, in which the core 10 acts like a honeycomb structure, a very high bending strength can be achieved with low weight.

As can be seen from Figure 3, strips 13, 14 made of gray cardboard are then glued onto all the front surfaces of the core 10 and the blanks 12. The entire core 10 is thus enclosed in gray cardboard. The cover is completed by four glued-on, rectangular kraft paper blanks 15, 16, which envelop the long edges 17 and the wide edges 18 and cover half of the top and bottom sides. The grain directions 19 of the blanks 15, 16 cross each other. The kraft paper of the blanks 15, 16 has a relatively high cellulose content of 70-90% and a basis weight of around 0.3 kg per m . This means that it has a high tensile strength. This gives the panel 1 a high bending strength with a low weight.

The feet 2 are also constructed from core parts 10, 12 according to Figure 2, whereby several of these parts are glued flat together and the longitudinal direction of the corrugated cardboard layers 11 runs parallel to the underside 5 of the plate 1. A gray cardboard cut-out 25 is glued onto each of the open, lateral end faces. It has been shown that with this construction of the feet 2, a very high load-bearing capacity is achieved. The cores 10 and the cut-outs 25 give the gray cardboard layers 12 a very high buckling resistance. The feet 2 are also framed by glued-on kraft paper.

pier cuts 26, 27, which are shown slightly raised in Figure 5 for better clarity. The kraft paper cuts 26, 27 reinforce the core additionally and facilitate the waterproof impregnation. It is advisable to produce a long square rod with the structure shown in Figure 5, which is then sawn to the appropriate foot height.

According to Figure 4, the strips 3 consist of a core 29 made of several gray cardboard cut-outs 30 glued together and one or two wrappings 31, 32 made of kraft paper, the fibers of which run in the longitudinal direction of the strip 3. The upper longitudinal edges 33 of the gray cardboard core 29 can be milled round to make it easier to roll over them with the rollers of a fork lift. Here too, the kraft paper wrappings in combination with the gray cardboard core result in high bending strength with a comparatively low overall height.

The described palette is impregnated with a water-based varnish or with a waterproof glue.

The pallet described is robust, waterproof and can be built with existing standard dimensions, e.g. as a Euro pallet with dimensions of 120 cm x 80 cm or 60 cm x 80 cm. The pallet is single-varnish and consists exclusively of paper and glue, and possibly varnish. This means that it can be easily reused and recycled. The pallet weighs around 14 kg (at 120 x 80 cm) and is much lighter than corresponding wooden pallets, which weigh around 25 kg. This makes handling empty pallets considerably easier.

Due to its robustness, the pallet can be used as a reusable pallet.

Claims (7)

Expectations 1. Cardboard pallet comprising: - A plate (1) with a core (10) made of corrugated cardboard (11) glued together, grey cardboard cut-outs (12) glued to both sides of the core (10) and a cover (15, 16) made of kraft paper; at least four cuboid-shaped feet (2) glued to the underside of the plate (1); - at least two strips (3), each of which is glued to the underside of at least two feet (2) and has a core (29) made of glued-together grey cardboard cut-outs (30) and a cover made of kraft paper (31, 32). 2. Pallet according to claim 1, wherein the grain direction of the kraft paper (31, 32) of the strips (3) runs in the longitudinal direction of the strips. 3. Pallet according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the upper longitudinal edges (33) of the strips (3) are rounded or bevelled. 4. Pallet according to one of claims 1-3, wherein the feet (2) comprise several layers (10, 12) glued together, each with a core (10) made of glued-together, single-row, single-wave corrugated cardboard (11), the longitudinal direction of the waves of which is parallel to the plane of the board, and gray cardboard blanks (12) glued to both sides of the core, wherein a further gray cardboard blank (25) is glued to the open, lateral end faces of the layers (10, 12). 5. Pallet according to claim 4, wherein the feet (2) additionally have an externally glued cover (26, 27) made of kraft paper. 6. Pallet according to one of claims 1-5, wherein the core (10) of the plate (1) consists of one-sided, single-wave corrugated cardboard layers (11) glued to one another, the longitudinal direction of the waves of which runs perpendicular to the plane of the plate, wherein all end faces of the core (10) and of the gray cardboard blanks (12) are covered by glued-on gray cardboard strips (13, 14). 7. Pallet according to one of claims 1-6, wherein the cover (15, 16) of the plate (1) consists of at least two successive glued kraft paper cuts whose grain direction crosses.
