B. eine Ioo mm starke Preßholzplatte hergestellt werden soll, preßt man zunächst eine 5o mm starke Platte, deren Außenflächen klebfähig bleiben. Eine derartige Platte erhält man vorteilhaft in der Weise, indem man auf mit Kunstharz versehene, lufttrockene Holzfurniere beiderseitig als äußere Lage gut ausgetrocknete Holzfurniere aufbringt. Diese fertiggepreßte Platte mit den klebfähig gepreßten Außenflächen wird dann als Kern zwischen zwei Furnierpakete gelegt, die so stark gewählt sind, daß sie im verpreßten Zustand 25 mm Auflage auf beiden Seiten bedeuten, und das Ganze gemeinsam verpreßt. Durch dieses Verfahren wird der weitere Vorteil erreicht, daß das Innere einer so dicken Platte besser ausgepreßt ist, als wenn man sie in einem Arbeitsgang hergestellt hätte. Wegen der erheblichen Wärmeisolation derartiger Furnierschichten dringt nämlich die Hitze sehr schlecht bis in das Innere der dicken Platten, so daß eine ungenügende Verdichtung erzielt wird. Derartige Platten sind inhomogen und besitzen eine geringere Gebrauchsfähigkeit. Es hat sich ferner gezeigt, daß das vorliegende Verfahren wirtschaftlicher ist und daß besser verpreßte Platten erzielt werden, als wenn man mit Kaltleim bzw. Heißleim vorher fertiggestellte dünne Platten miteinander verleimt.
