The invention relates to a cuboid-shaped packaging for individual items combined to form a shipping and sales unit, consisting of a base part that is open at the top and holds the individual items in the form of a tray made from a base cut with four vertical side walls and a hood-shaped upper part that extends over the side walls of the base part and consists of a folding cut made of cardboard, carton or the like.

DE-U-89 09 035 discloses a cuboid-shaped packaging made of a foldable material such as corrugated cardboard, paperboard or the like for packaging individual items combined into a shipping unit, whereby the packaging is assembled from a base part and a lid part which is tightly closed by the base part on one opening side, whereby the base part consists of an upright base blank with sides hinged to a base section via fold lines.

The packaging is opened using four tear tabs, two of which are arranged on opposite side walls of the packaging and in these, running parallel to the tray edges. The four tear tabs are not opened by jerking them up from the bottom, but by pulling them away from the side, whereby the two tabs on each side wall are pulled apart in horizontal and opposite directions. This is done by grasping the free ends of the two tabs with the fingers of both hands, first the two tabs on one side of the packaging and then the two tabs on the other side of the packaging, for which the packaging must be turned 180°. It is not possible to open the tear tabs at the same time. Before opening the packaging, the four tabs must be torn off and on from the tray one after the other by hand or using an object. Only then can the outer packaging be removed from the tray and the contents in a further step. In addition, a further step must be carried out to dispose of the outer packaging lying flat. To do this, the long sides of the overlapping side flaps must be separated from the cross flaps, which are glued together. The outer packaging is lifted off the tray at the edges. When the flaps are torn off the tray, cardboard remnants can

stick. The outer packaging is not sufficiently supportive to fully protect sensitive contents. The contents are tightly fitted on all sides within the outer packaging. It is not possible to open and dispose of the outer packaging quickly and easily. Difficult handling causes time-consuming work when opening larger units. Since the two tabs on each side of the packaging are not connected to each other at the opposite ends, there is a risk that the tab ends will be lifted off their contact surface and bent if transported improperly, which could lead to difficulties later on when grasping them for the purpose of opening the packaging. In addition, the packaging is folded from a blank in such a way that the overlapping flaps of the upper lid parts only partially close with the side wings. This means that the outer packaging cannot provide double support for the contents. Furthermore, there is no protection against dust as there is no overlap of the side flaps in the lower part of the packaging.

Also known are folding boxes, which usually consist of one piece, with the base and lid each formed by four closure flaps. Such folding boxes are delivered flat and ready for use. Base flaps and lid flaps are closed, for example, by gluing or adhesive strips. Such folding boxes are provided with a wide variety of closures, such as a slot closure, grip closure, plug-in closure with hooked side pockets or wing closure, whereby combinations of the various closures are also possible.

The invention is based on the task of creating a shipping packaging suitable for shops and logistics according to the type mentioned at the beginning in order to place the contents of the packaging in certain quantities as a whole unit on the shelves in shops and retail outlets with minimal handling effort, whereby in addition to easy opening of the outer packaging, the package should have a high level of stability when closed and at the same time protect the contents against dust. Furthermore, the packaging should be able to be filled by hand without technical effort, such as machines, and should be easy to open so that it can be placed on a shelf as a sales unit after opening.

In a packaging designed in accordance with the invention, the upper part, which forms the outer packaging, is formed over the tray and is specifically point-glued to it. The point-gluing of the two long side walls of the upper part to its side flaps and to the long side walls of the base part ensures quick, problem-free opening. There is no need to glue parts of the upper part to the base. The targeted point-gluing ensures, on the one hand, that the overall packaging is highly stable and, on the other hand, that it is easy to open by pulling off the long side walls of the upper part using the grip tabs formed in the long side walls, which are simply folded out of the long side walls and can therefore be easily grasped in order to release the point-gluing, thereby opening the upper part and removing it from the base part. The upper part and lower part form a unit. After setting up, filling and closing the outer packaging, it can be easily opened using the tear tabs provided on the long sides and used as a sales display.

The shipping packaging created is suitable for shops and logistics. With minimal handling effort, it is possible to

This point bonding ensures that the outer packaging can be removed from the tray quickly and easily. By designing the outer packaging with an authenticity seal, a hand packaging is created that is theft-proof and dust-proof. The resulting shipping unit, which is suitable for shops and logistics and can also be changed with simple manual actions, can also be used as a display or tray. In addition to the possibility of bringing two different materials together and gluing them together mechanically in the cardboard factory, it is now also possible to create a hand-assembled packaging. The outer packaging, i.e. the upper part, can be manufactured according to ECMA Code A 910, e.g. also according to FEFCO/assco 2000, whereby an authenticity seal can also be used. The outer packaging side walls are on the side of the tray; they overlap the side walls of the tray and are glued to the tray at points to protect it from dust and dirt. This makes it easy to open the side tear tabs. These are removed from the tray from bottom to top, opening slightly outwards. This outer packaging does not require an additional shipping box, so that the pallet is used optimally; material and space are saved. There is less material to dispose of. The delivery is flat; the usable outer packaging is obtained by unfolding it.

Advantageous embodiments of the invention are characterized in the subclaims.

The cuboid-shaped packaging 100 shown in Fig. 1 and 2 for individual items 90 combined into a shipping and sales unit (Fig. 6) consists of a base part 10 in the form of a tray that holds the individual items and an upper part 30 in the form of an outer packaging that overlaps the base part 10.

The base part 10 is formed by a rectangular base 11, two long side walls 12, 13 and two narrow side walls 14, 15. This base part 10 can be manufactured as a one-piece molded body made of plastic or other suitable materials; it is also possible to manufacture the base part using a deep-drawing process. The material used to manufacture the base part 10 should be selected so that the base part 10 has sufficient inherent rigidity and stability.

In the embodiment shown in Fig. 1, 2, 5 and 6, the base part 10 consists of a folding blank made of cardboard, paperboard or other suitable materials, with the long side walls 12, 13 of the base part 10 being attached to the base blank 11 via folding lines 12a, 13a and the narrow side walls 14, 15 being attached to the base blank 11 via folding lines 14a, 15a. The long side walls 12, 13 and the narrow side walls 14, 15 have the same heights. The long side walls 12, 13 have tabs 16, 17 and 18, 19 at the ends, which are folded onto the long side walls 12, 13 via folding lines 16a, 17a and 18a, 19a (Fig. 3). The fastening of the tabs 16 to 19 to the narrow side walls 14, 15 is carried out by means of surface adhesives indicated at 20 in Fig. 6. Self-adhesives or other suitable adhesives can be used as adhesives.

At the front, the base part 10 can carry a holder 80 on one of its two folded-up side walls 14,15,

which serves to hold a price label, advertising information or the like 81 (Fig. 2). This holder 80 can be obtained by appropriately folding a suitable folding cut-out made of cardboard, carton or another suitable material and attached to the outer wall surface of the side wall 14 of the base part 10 by means of an adhesive. However, a different design of the holder 80 for holding a price label 81 can also be provided. In addition, there is also the possibility of forming a viewing window, for example in the side wall or 15, in the area of which a price label or the like 81 is then arranged, which can then also be arranged and attached in the area of the viewing window by means of an adhesive connection.

The upper part 30 is formed by a rectangular upper cut 31, which corresponds approximately to the dimensions of the base cut 11 of the base part 10, by two long side walls 32, 33 and two narrow side walls 34, 35, to which side flaps 36, 37 and 38, 39 are folded (Fig. 5, 7, 8 and 9).

The upper part 30 also consists of a folding blank made of cardboard, paperboard or another suitable material. The longitudinal side walls 32, 33 are folded onto the longitudinal edges 31a, 31b of the upper part 30 and the side walls 34, 35 are folded onto the edges 31c, 31d of the narrow sides of the upper blank 31. In the folding blank shown in Fig. 4, the folding lines over which the longitudinal side walls 32, 33 are folded onto the upper blank 31 are designated 31a ¹ and 31b ¹ and the folding lines over which the side walls 34, 35 are folded onto the upper blank 31 are designated 34a, 35a. The edges 32b, 32c and 33b, 33c running transversely to the longitudinal edges 32a, 33a of the two longitudinal side walls 32,33 of the upper part 30 are

32a, 33a are designed to be slanted. These bevelled edges 32b, 32c, 33b, 33c of the long side walls 32, 33 are intended to protect against snagging and tilting when packing and stacking the sales units.

The side flaps 36, 37 and 38,39 are also folded onto the side walls 34, 35 via fold lines 36a, 37a and 38a,39a. The longitudinal edges 36b, 37b, 38b, 39b of the four side flaps 36 to 39 that run to the fold lines 36a,37a,38a,39a are designed to run in the shape of a circular arc. However, it is also possible to let these longitudinal edges 36b, 37b, 38b, 39b run parallel to the fold lines 36a,37a,38a,39a and to only round off the respective corner areas 36', 36", 37', 37", 38', 38" and 39', 39". These rounded corners of the side pockets 36 to 39 serve to improve alignment and bonding of the upper part 30 during machine assembly (Fig. 4).

The free longitudinal edges of the two longitudinal side walls 32, 33 of the upper part 30 are designated 32a, 33a.

In the area of these free longitudinal edges 32a, 33a, the longitudinal side walls 32, 33 have grip tabs 40, 140 running in the longitudinal direction of the side walls, which are held in or on the longitudinal side walls 32, 33 via fold lines 41, 141. The length of the grip tabs 41, 140 is smaller than the length of the longitudinal side walls 32, 33. In order to move the grip tabs 40, 140 laterally into a position that is convenient for gripping (Fig. 8), the length of each grip tab 40, 140 is limited at the end by notches 42, 42a and 142, 142a running transversely to the longitudinal direction of the side wall, the ends of these notches 42, 42a, 142, 142a being connected to one another via the fold lines 41, 141 (Fig. 4 and 5).

The long side walls 32, 33 of the upper part 30 are firmly connected to the side flaps 36, 37 and 38, 39 by means of point-bonding 50, 51, which consist of self-adhesives applied in points. The upper part 30 is obtained by appropriately folding the individual sections of the folded blank forming the upper part 30 around the corresponding fold lines, and by placing the long side walls 32, 33 on the folded-in sides 36 to 39, the long side walls 32, 33 are then attached to these side flaps 36 to 39 by means of the point-bonding 50, 51, so that a hood-shaped upper part 30 is obtained with dimensions that allow the individual pieces 90 arranged in the base part 10 to be covered. If the upper part 30 is placed on the base part 10, the long side walls 32, 33 and the narrow side walls 34, 35 of the upper part 30 overlap the outer wall surfaces of the long side walls 12, 13 and the narrow side walls 14, 15 of the base part 10 (Fig. 1 and 7).

The fastening of the upper part 30 to the base part 10 is also carried out by means of a double-sided point bond, which is indicated in Fig. 6 at 52. This point bond is also a point-shaped coating made of a self-adhesive material. The point bond 52 is provided on the outer wall surfaces of the long side walls 12, 13 of the base part 10, approximately in the middle of the long side walls, and is attached in such a way that in the bonded state the point bond comes to lie above the grip tabs 40, 140, so that the grip tabs rest on the outer wall surfaces of the long side walls 12, 13 of the base part 10 in a bond-free section. The width of each grip tab 40,140 is dimensioned such that the grip tab is located below the point bonding 52 on the base part I side wall 12 or 13. In addition to a three-point bonding, as shown in Fig.

5 and 6, four or five-point bonding can also be provided. It is important that the long side walls 32, 33 of the upper part 30 are held firmly to the side flaps up to 39 and to the long side walls 12, 13 of the base part, so that dust-proof packaging of the individual items 90 in the base part 10 is also achieved. The connected packaging parts are released after the grip flaps 40, 140 have been moved into a slightly outwardly spread position by bending the grip flaps from the long side walls 32, 33 of the upper part 30 in the direction of the arrow X (Fig. 8). Due to this lateral projection of the grip flaps 40, 140, they can be safely grasped for opening the packaging. By pulling the long side walls 32, 33 apart in the direction of arrow X1, the point bonds 50 to 52 are released; the top part 30 can then be removed from the base part 10 and all parts of the top part 30 are then bent back into the folding plane so that a flat top part 30 is obtained, which simplifies disposal. The top parts 30 unfolded in this way can be stacked on top of each other to save space, transported and destroyed or recycled. Since the side parts of the base part 10 and top part 30 are released by pulling the long side walls 32, 33 apart, point bonds are a good option so that no great force is needed to release the connected wall parts.

Each point bond 50, 51, 52 is formed according to a further embodiment according to the invention by a surface section 60 made of a suitable self-adhesive agent, which is attached to the inner wall surface 132 of the longitudinal side wall 32 of the upper part 30 and to the outer wall surface of the side flaps 36 to 39 and also to the outer wall surface 112 of the bottom part side

wall of the base part 10. Fig. 13 shows as an example the point bonding 5 2 in the area of the long side wall 12 of the base part 10 and the long side wall 32 of the upper part 30.

This surface section 60, which forms the point bond 52 (Fig. 10), is surrounded by a separating perforation or separating punch 61 formed in the material of the wall surface of the longitudinal side wall 12 of the base part 10, which is formed in the adhesive area of the surface section 60, namely in each case on the wall surface to which the surface section 60 adheres from the self-adhesive agent, whereby this design can be provided both on the longitudinal side wall 12 of the base part 10 and on the longitudinal side wall 32 of the upper part 30 (Fig. 12). The separating perforation or separating punch 61, which surrounds the surface section 60 made of the self-adhesive, is embedded in the material of the longitudinal side wall 12 of the base part 10 on the surface and to such a depth that, when the point bonding is released, the surface section 60 adhering to the wall surface 112 of the longitudinal side wall 32 is separated from the wall material together with the material section 62 separated from the rest of the side wall material by the separating perforation or separating punch 61, so that in the area of the recess 64, which is obtained by the separated material section 62, a thinner wall section 63 is obtained (Fig. 13 and 14). After the longitudinal side wall 32 has been detached from the longitudinal side wall 12 of the base part 10, only the recess 64 remains in the outer wall surface 112 of the longitudinal side wall 12, whereas the entire surface section 60 made of the self-adhesive layer remains on the inner wall surface 132 of the longitudinal side wall 32 (Fig. 11) This has the advantage that an outer wall surface on the base part 10 is retained as a perfect visible surface,

which is in no way tainted by adhesive residues remaining on the outer wall surface 112 of the longitudinal side wall 12 of the base part 10.

All point bonds 50 to 52 used can be designed in the same way as described above. If the point bonds 50, 51 are designed accordingly, the advantage is achieved here that self-adhesives with high adhesive strength can be used, whereby only small forces are then required to detach the long side walls 32, 33 from the side flaps 36 to 39 of the upper part 30, since the point bonds 50, 51 are released only by removing material from the side flaps 36 to 39 and not by releasing the adhesive connection.

The design of an upper part 30 with grip tabs 40, 140 formed in the long side walls 32, 33 provides the advantage that, despite the fact that the upper part 30 is firmly glued to the base part 10, the packaging can be opened easily. To open and lift the upper part 30 from the base part 10, it is therefore no longer necessary to lift the entire packaging in order to remove any wall elements from the base of the packaging. For transport, the grip tabs 40, 140 lie in the plane formed by the long side walls 32, 33 of the upper part 30. By folding out the handle tabs to the side, they are brought into a position that is easy to grip in order to release the long side walls 32, 33 not only from the side tabs 36 to 39, but also from the long side walls 12, 13 of the base part 10. This makes it possible to unfold the hood-shaped upper part 30.

According to the embodiment shown in Fig. 1 and described above, the packaging 100 consists of a hood-shaped upper part 30 (outer packaging) and a base part 10 (tray), whereby both the upper part 30 and the base part 10 are hood-shaped and are not provided with a folding closure. Furthermore, the upper part 30 does not have an authenticity closure.

Fig. 15 shows a folding blank 200 for the upper part 30, which is designed according to ECMA Code A 90, whereby a design with a FEFCO/assco 0 200 BO VKTN closure can also be made. The folding blank 200 is formed by the four side walls 201, 202, 203, 204, which are connected to one another via fold lines 205, 206, 207, and if the upper part 30 has an approximately rectangular cross-section, then the side walls 201, 202 and the side walls 203, 204 are each designed the same. The grip tabs 40, 140 are formed in the side walls 201, 202. A fastening tab 208 is folded onto the side wall 201. When folded to form the upper part 30, this fastening tab 208 is glued to the side wall 204. On the side opposite the handle tab 40, a cover part 210 is folded over a fold line 211, the dimensions of which correspond to the cross-sectional area of the upper part 30. Edge tabs 212, 214, 216 are also folded over fold lines 213, 215, 217 onto the side walls 203, 202, 204 in their upper areas. A slot-shaped opening 218 is formed in the fold line 215 for a tamper-evident closure 220, which is described in more detail below.
