Description

Process for the production of vulcanized fiber Ice has been tried repeatedly, but without success, to produce white vulcanized fibers, especially those of; a thickness of r mm and above, to produce in technical operation. For example, an attempt was made to achieve a non-white vulcanized fiber by intensive treatment with bleaching liquids, but such treatment considerably reduces the strength of the vulcanized fiber, and in some cases even completely destroys it.

It has now been found that it is möglvch to produce white vulcanized fiber of high strength and significant strength when subjecting a virtually iron-free bleaching treatment of the vulcanized fiber. For this purpose, one can either work in the course of the production process of the vulcanized fiber with the greatest possible exclusion of iron and iron compounds, for example with iron-free parchment fluids and wash water, or with the use of the usual parchment fluids and wash water before the bleaching process remove the iron from the raw vulcanized fiber with suitable washing liquids. It has proven to be particularly advantageous to treat the vulcanized fiber plate emerging from the water with a solution of chemicals that is capable of binding the ones present in the plant in a complex manner. A solution of oxalic acid is advantageously used for this purpose. This treatment is followed by the treatment with a bleaching liquid wedge, for example sodium hypochlorite, ni @ ty, whereupon the vulcanized fiber is washed, dried and finished in the usual way.

- In any case, it is important that the iron content of the vulcanized fiber is correct before bleaching. is depressed far enough so that in the finished vulcanized fiber it is no more than about 0.01 to 0.02%. It is possible to produce a pure white, non-brittle vulcanized fiber in an extraordinarily simple manner. At s.piie1 a vulcanized fiber made from white vulcanized fiber raw material with as few contaminated pergamene chemicals as possible is placed in an ioMous oxalic acid solution and left in it for 2'4 hours. Then the volcanic tuber is washed out and in a known manner, for example with a Sodium hypochlorite solution, bleached, washed and dried. -
